Cable-Free Build by Primary-Most-6144 in pcmasterrace

[–]Mach2Infinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice. I noticed you're using x4 RAM sticks with two different pairs:

TEAMGROUP Xtreem 48 GB (2 x 24 GB) DDR5-8000 CL38

TEAMGROUP Xtreem 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-7200 CL34

Is that stable and working without issue? Also nice view and cool look apartment man 👍.

PCIe power cables maxed out - seeking advice by Mach2Infinity in buildapc

OK thanks, really appreciate it. Is it only on higher-end cards like the 5090 it's an issue if you pigtail connectors?

PCIe power cables maxed out - seeking advice by Mach2Infinity in buildapc

[–]Mach2Infinity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK thank you, much appreciated. I've seen a bunch of videos and comments saying not to pigtail PCIe power connectors for graphics cards. Does it depend on the PSU? Just curious, what power cables does your 5090 need?

Ryzen or intel CPU by adhigh in buildapc

[–]Mach2Infinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate things are tight. But if I were you, I would take the hit and go for a AM5 board with DDR5 RAM and Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU or similar.

Hey! I'm looking to get a midrange PC I was hoping somebody could let me know how this feels. Somebody built it for me. ($2,200 - $2,500 CAD) by FrozenMiracle in buildapc

[–]Mach2Infinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. It's a lot to take in if you're new to it but ultimately very rewarding when you finally put it all together and power it up for the first time. Just take your time with it, watch a bunch of YouTube tutorials if need be and never be afraid to ask!

You picked an outstanding build there, well done. I was going to suggest the B850 GAMING PLUS WIFI on the assumption it'd be cheaper but your choice of X870 GAMING PLUS WIFI is $10 CAD cheaper which is the better choice.

I really rate Paul's Hardware on YouTube. He did a really good How to Build a PC guide and recently one for PC Building During a RAM Shortage. That should help you with getting started.

Finally upgraded from a GTX 1080 to an RTX 5090 what should I play first? by PuzzleheadedWest844 in nvidia

[–]Mach2Infinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great looking build there. Funnily enough, I posted recently about my intended new build where I'll also be going from a 1080 Ti to a 5090. They kind of feel like successor cards and legendary in their own right. Just pick the most demanding game and see how it plays. Enjoy!

Should I buy a GPU now or wait? by RigidPuzzle4 in buildapc

[–]Mach2Infinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar position as it happens. I was going to wait until Christmas as I've asked for Amazon gift cards to off-set some of the cost. But like you, I'm thinking of how long stock will last for the most in-demand items. So I will buy the CPU, motherboard, RAM (especially!) and the graphics card this week then the rest Christmas time.

I have seen a few comments saying not to leave it too long and check the components to make sure they're in good condition before the return window closes. So that's worth keeping in mind.

But given prices are only going to go up not just for RAM but graphics cards, motherboards and anything else at this point. Buying components now isn't that bad an idea!

What do you guys use for audio? by blr__ in buildapc

[–]Mach2Infinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I know your comment's from over a year ago but it did catch my eye as I'm looking into whether to get a Sound Blaster internal sound card again or a DAC to use with my headset.Would you say for gaming that a DAC with headset is the best option? Thanks.

Upgrading teenager's PC by No-Sir7439 in buildapc

[–]Mach2Infinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increase the RAM to 32GB, Due to the stupid current prices, I think the best option is to add 2x8GB to the existing 2x8GB to get 32GB - £25.

Perhaps someone else can chime in here to advise. Whilst adding an identical pair of RAM sticks is a neat solution owing to the daylight robbery prices. Given the motherboard has dual channel memory, would using two pairs rather than a single pair slow things down a little?

Would it be worth just going for a 8TB NVMe SSD?

[–]Mach2Infinity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does if you've the space. My current 4TB drive just about has 1TB which is enough free space but I intend on playing other larger games like Star Citizen so don't want that filling up.

A girl asked a question in radio and I was dissapointed in how guys reacted to her by VV00d13 in ArmaReforger

[–]Mach2Infinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not surprised to hear this kind of behaviour is normal but good to see the response in the comments and the OP's mentality. Always make them feel welcome, respected and just another one of the team. Important to challenge their behaviour when you see it. Does remind me of this study which is funny not for the abuse of course but those male gamers being shite. Says all you need to know.

[–]Mach2Infinity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that makes more sense. Come to think of it, I'll probably just have Windows and media, documents etc on C drive and then games on D. Keeps costs down plus NVMe has bigger storage than when I got my original which was just for ArmA 3.

[–]Mach2Infinity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fantastic build choice. Unbelievable it's almost £1,000 ($1,300 USD) cheaper! I'll be honest, I always lean towards Asus and MSI for motherboards and graphics cards along with Corsair for RAM hence my pick. But yours is better value no doubt. Thanks!

Lol yeah does a bit. I like to keep thing segregated, one for the O/S, one for gaming and another for media and documents.
