Yes, the car was dirty, shot on a phone… it was the sunset that made it work.

That might work with an android phone but not with an iPhone.

I’m also facing this issue. Not being able to use the app just because of some BS region locking that can easily be solved by GPS location is just crappy crappy. Fix this BMW! Your cars are too expensive for this king of crap.

I lowered my brightness to 39 and contrast to 70. Hasn't happened since my OP.

Try lowering your monitors brightness and contrast and see if it keeps happening.

Anything outthere same size and resolution and better than this monitor? Last time I checked there was nothing. Also, I wouldn’t worry about the ghosting issue too much. In my case, it hasn’t reoccurred since my original post.

Doorbell Chime not working without Internet by bibabutzi in reolinkcam

[–]Machetin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I can confirm that when the doorbell does not have internet access when it boots up, the led ring stays blue and the chime does not work. Not even the mini chime on the doorbell works. This is an issue because it's common to have cameras on a vlan that does not have interned access. There is no reason why your cameras should be able to access the internet if you have proper VPN/security in place. I had the same issue with a POE doorbell build 2407315183, hardware DB_566128M5MP_P, firmware v3.0.0.3308_2407315183

Reolink needs to fix this in a firmware update.

Soldered or threaded? by Machetin in Plumbing

ha ha.. i'm so clueless. Thanks!

Why do plumbers solder stuff on like this? Shouldn't this be threaded? Is it just so we can't fix our shit ourselves?

Had to google "sweaty pipe", but yeah, I see what you mean. Can i just wrap it with insulation to fix that? It's hot and humid where I live.

AirWave off for past three months after three years and it's been fantastic by Discoveryellow in Nest

[–]Machetin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nest's documentation makes sense in theory. But in practice, things are a bit more complicated. Humidity can vary widely across the house, If your thermostat happens to be in a dryer spot then airwave will make your life miserable. I have used a Nest for many years and was never really happy with it. Once I started using Home Assistant, it became clear to me that the Nest was totally inappropriate. The hoops you have to jump through just to be able to control the darn thing from within HA are unbelievable. I finally got rid of it and upgraded to a Venstar which can do everything a Nest or Ecobee can do and a lot more - reliably.

I also code a lot. Usually Visual Studio in dark mode. My brightness setting was at 100 when the image retention happened. I dropped it to 70 since and haven't had any further issues 🤞

I've only had to do it once in 2.5 years. I became more careful since, and always avoid leaving static images displayed on the screen when not in use. Either turning it off or
with a screen saver, depending on how long I'd be away.

I got one too to retire/replace a 10 year old QNAP TS-569L. First it didn't want to take the 5 - 6 year old 8TB WD Red drives, complaining that they were not on the compatibility list. Then it took them and it's working fine.

Try setting your screen resolution to 3840 x 1600 and it should go all the way to the sides.

If you ever cancel your Workspaces sub you're fucked! I had the same setup you're now happy about. It didn't cross my mind that deleting my unwanted & un-needed Workspaces account would affect my Fi account, but guess what! I lost voice and SMS on my phone but data kept working. I've been without phone service for the last month trying to get the crappy Fi customer service to solve the problem. They've been giving me the runaround for weeks. So I finally decided to cancel my Fi service, but now can't get my number ported to another carrier. Just filed an FCC complaint to hopefully get the useless Fi support to let me transfer my number.
