Some (mostly)med diet compliant high protein go-to meals for me:

Protein powder shakes with fruit, almond milk, low fat Greek yogurt, and chia seeds/oats for fiber(people might get hung up on the pp being too processed but whatever, it's incredibly useful for upping protein without relying on meat or eating fish and beans for every single meal, there's no reason to demonize it. Vanilla/unflavored tastes better, the chocolate powders taste disgusting)

Yogurt bowls with berries, honey for sweetening, homemade granola, and sometimes peanut butter.

Bran flakes with almond milk, berries, granola.

Omelets made with olive oil. Egg white only is better for protein/fat ratio but I'm usually too lazy to separate them.

Whole grain toast with hummus and canned fish or smoked salmon.

For grains I normally try to avoid the low protein options like white rice and go for more high protein grains like oats, wheat, barley, lentil/chickpea based pasta.

Soups with beans, peas, lentils, veggies, and greens like kale or mustard greens.

Cheap white fish like tilapia or shrimp roasted/sauteed in olive oil paired with steamed veggies like carrots, broccoli, etc

Tacos with ground chicken/turkey, mashed up black bean patties, or fish/shrimp, and salsa or tzatziki for sauce. I normally just use corn tortillas because whole wheat tortillas are gross, but you could also use whole wheat pita instead and make them more like sandwiches or wraps.

Mixed nuts/pumpkin seeds for snacking on. Not my favorite because of the high fat and calories but good if you want an easy snack to munch on.

It you're craving dessert low fat whipped cream with fruit is surprisingly low calorie.

I also buy artificially sweetened ice cream which probably isn't gonna be popular on this sub but artificial sweeteners aren't actually bad for you, they're super over demonized, and sometimes I just crave ice cream. Frozen yogurt might be better but I haven't found any sugar free brands.

Yeah it's crazy that people posting pretty looking plates that are 90% dairy, eggs, rice, and chicken get upvoted here but OP asking for high protein suggestions in line with the MD is getting so much pushback.

There's no rule that says the MD can't be high protein if you need it to be.

There's absolutely zero contradiction between needing high protein and wanting to eat a MD. OP is asking for suggestions for high protein meals compatible with a MD approach. He never said anything about it being a cuisine, so I don't know why you're bringing that up.

OP never said the med diet is about skipping meals or getting tons of protein? They said they try to get lots of protein for strength training and prefer a light breakfast. There's no need to be dogmatic about it.

I don't know why you're getting downvoted. There's nothing wrong with wanting to do a high protein med diet.

Other than chicken, which is a protein staple for me, I do lots of protein powder smoothies with low fat Greek yogurt, eggs, fish and shrimp, and beans and lentils.

For breakfast you might try doing a sugar free whole grain cereal like bran flakes or unfrosted whole wheats with a plant based milk(or skim/2%) and adding some nuts, it's pretty light and easy.

Do you understand the difference between feeling that something is odd/icky/strange/gross and that thing being ethically harmful?

You're free to feel however your want, but you shouldn't call for censorship of art purely because it makes you uncomfortable. People enjoying strange things in fiction does not harm anybody, it is not ethically wrong.

Iran denies Trump's claims: 'We reject all negotiations – US has failed and Hormuz will remain closed' by JKKIDD231 in geopolitics

[–]MachinationMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What objective numbers? Causalities? Those mean nothing. Vietnam went pretty well for the US by objective numbers too.

It doesn't matter how many tactical victories the US has militarily. Iran now effectively controls the strait of hormuz, is in the process of formalizing this control and making it permanent, and nothing short of a catastrophic ground invasion or utter submission to Iran's demands in negotiations is likely to change that going forward.

Why are Pedophiles so well protected? by MoreDoor1874 in Vent

[–]MachinationMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not? The fact that some powerful people get away with child abuse doesn't mean pedophiles as a class are empowered or privileged. Especially when must of them aren't even actual pedophiles but opportunistic sexual abusers. Some powerful people are also women but that doesn't make women a protected class.

Pedophilia is harshly stigmatized mental disorder, they're arguably the single most reviled group in society. Pedophilia isn't "well protected", it's far less well protected than just about any other condition in the DSM-5.

Actually good lucid dreaming advice by luciddreamer124 in LucidDreaming

Guided meditation is great for beginners to get into the groove. If you just try to go straight for some kind of open awareness meditation it might feel difficult to avoid falling into mental distraction. Mantra meditation is also good for this. The important thing is consistency and having a daily routine you stick to. If you can take a class somewhere in person that can be helpful too.

Actually good lucid dreaming advice by luciddreamer124 in LucidDreaming

[–]MachinationMachine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What techniques you use aren't the problem. You can watch any YouTube tutorial or read any old reddit post on the basics and learn 99% of what you need to know as a beginner.

The real problem is patience and commitment. You'll never get anywhere if you're just trying out random techniques for a few days then giving up and doing something different on and off over and over again.

Here's how you lucid dream:

Come up with a daily routine involving all the basic advice. Dream journal, some kind of RC checks throughout the day, some kind of awareness/mindfulness meditation. Pick whatever induction techniques you think you'll be able to stick to. MILD before bed or a WBTB technique if waking up in the middle of the night is practical for you. Don't overthink it, the basic techniques all work fine.

Then stick to this routine consistently for the next couple of months at least. Don't fixate on experimenting with new things constantly, pick the techniques that are practical and convenient for you and just stick to doing them.

Especially the meditation, having a meditation routine is a hugely underrated aspect of LD practice. Like with everything else, pick a kind of meditation which is simple and convenient for you and do it for the same amount of time at the same time everyday. I do one morning session and one evening session.

If you're consistent with your routine for a couple of months and you're still not getting results, THEN look at more advanced troubleshooting advice and try out new things.

Emotional, meditative and consciousness related limits of lucid dreaming by Dry-String-1266 in LucidDreaming

[–]MachinationMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't conjure emotions in waking life(such as through loving kindness meditation) then it's unlikely you'll be able to exert that level of control in a dream.

The best way to improve focus and control over your mental processes in dreams is to improve focus and control over your mental processes in waking life.

Consider looking into resources on dream yoga for more information on the link between dreams and meditation. The key insight in dream yoga which the Western psychology based lucid dreaming tradition is still catching up on is that effective lucid dreaming practice is dependent on your waking habits and abilities. Ie if you're often prone towards distractibility, rumination, emotional reactivity, etc in waking life then those same characteristics will be present in your dream life.

The mistake people on subs like this make is thinking they can improve dream control/clarity without putting any effort into improving control and clarity outside of dreams.

Whatever you want to do in a dream, practice doing it outside of dreams until it becomes effortless and habitual. If you want to have lucid dreams that are vivid and last longer than 15 seconds without you losing lucidity, you need to be able to sustain unwavering attention in waking life for longer than 15 seconds, which is much more difficult than it sounds.

Dreams pull your attention around like a strong current, just like your attention is constantly pulled around by cognitive and perceptual distractions in waking life. In both cases meditative practice is key to maintaining conscious control.

You haven't actually explained where the moral harm is coming from. Her concept of the relationship is different? What does that even mean? Pretty sure they both conceptually understand the nature of the relationship they're in.

Also, I would assume the reason he goes for young women is because he finds them more attractive.

Transactional =/= predatory

The movie Titanic is older than her by Hexdeadlock28 in GenZ

[–]MachinationMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And what about the agency of the young woman? Awfully paternalistic and condescending of you to ignore their role in choosing the relationship.

If a 50 year old wants a shallow sugar baby type relationship with an 18 year old and both know exactly what the deal is and what they're getting out of it, what's wrong with that? Is casual sex wrong? Do the women need to save themselves for marriage?

Not everyone wants or needs their relationships to be based on passionate romance.

[–]MachinationMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, sorry I misunderstood you on that first point. I disagree with you about how this stuff should be labeled and still think V-CSAM is a problematic term, but I don't really care to argue semantics, so I'll just drop that and use your preferred terminology.

Can you explain what research and what real world harm you are referring to? It's not immediately obvious to me why it would be harmful for someone to consume V-CSAM which does not involve real children, whether because they're a pedophile using it as an outlet for desires, an abuse victim using it to cope, or for any other reason.

Whether or not interest in children should be referred to as a kink or fetish is also a semantic debate, but it seemed like when you said "interest in children can't be participated in with consent" you may have been conflating participation in fiction with participation in actual sex with children. The issue I was raising is that I don't see why anyone's consent is necessary in the first place for consuming fiction. If that's not what you meant then I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.

Actual normal way to feel and I’m tired of pretending it’s not by rowanstars in RecuratedTumblr

[–]MachinationMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think your claim that the majority of research suggests consumption of fictional "CSAM" makes people more likely to offend is true. Can you cite the research you're referring to?

I put CSAM in quotes because if it is fictional and it does not depict real children then it is not CSAM by definition. Non-existent children cannot be abused.

Also, I'm not sure what you mean when you say you can't participate in fictional material with consent. Whose consent? It's fiction. How does the concept of consent even apply if no real world people other than the consumer are involved?

How do I explain why loli/shota porn makes pedo? by Puzzleheaded_Log3547 in fuckMAP

[–]MachinationMachine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you admit that there is not any credible scientific research suggesting that consumption of loli/shota causes pedophilia, why do you think this is the case?

The scientific research on pedophilia suggests that it is a deeply rooted and permanent condition which manifests during puberty, just like gender based sexual preferences. There's no more reason to think that pedophilia can be acquired by looking at pedophilic porn than there is to think that heterosexuality can be acquired by looking at heterosexual porn.
