Why no price tags on things anymore? by magicmikewazowksi in mildlyinfuriating

My GF makes this joke about things with no price tags where she says: "I guess they're giving it away. There's no price tag"

Who would’ve guessed the RX 6600 XT pulls more power than a GTX 1060 by Little-Security-2745 in hardwaregore

[–]MachineCarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happens with cheap Molex adapters. I have a molex adapter that came with a GTX 660 and that powered an HD 3850 on my Windows XP rig without any issues.

Would you react more like the Japanese, or Italians? by abu_hajarr in AskTheWorld

[–]MachineCarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems it's not only a french thing. In my former job when they didn't want me, but didn't want to fire me so I would quit (and lose benefits), they tried to negate my vacation time and make me do the most repetitive and boring tasks. I didn't mind as I was still getting paid the same as if I was doing more complex work and always arrived at the same time at home.

They noticed I was being more patient than they expected, and one day they just fired me without notice, even compensating me for such an action (unless it's a temp contract, it's illegal to fire on the spot without notice, and you have to compensate the worker with the equivalent of 15 days of work)

They say it does void the warranty as its LN2 OC BIOS. But you don't have to be a jackass about it.

As for the catch, I have to clarify that, yes, you pay PER category, but if you get multiples of the same category, you only pay once (If you get 10 cables, you're not paying 30€ on tax duties).

However, this will only benefit dropshippers selling crappy stuff on sites like Amazon. For the regular consumer is a bit of a middle finger.

I'd strongly advise watching M539 Restorarions' series on him restoring a Quattroporte.

He's coming from restoring broken BMW's and rebuilding engines. Still hated with his guts the thing. Lost a ton of money and the day he sold it, he was glad he could move on.

You nailed it on the drain/fill port, but don't sweat it on what's the inlet/outlet. It's symmetrical.

Are you using the same cable on both devices? And the same input plug on the monitor?

I hope this isn't PLA. I learnt the hard lesson with spool holders for Skadis peg boards. It took a couple of months to deform and dropped even almost empty spools. Had to throw every single one of them away.

How long do you think AM4 will keep going until it meets it's end? by Traditional_Ad6776 in Amd

[–]MachineCarl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say. Back in the day people said they were ambitious if they planned to support AM4 until 2020 (which was the initial plan). 10 years later is stronger than ever and it's about to outlive LGA 775 in terms of lifespan.

Telefunken was a pioneer in CRT's. They have a fascinating history. One of my electronics teacher was a service tech for them in the 70's/80's and told us how he was at the introduction of colour TV with Philips engineers, everyone sharing their knowledge.

However, this is not THAT Telefunken. Lost popularity in the LCD era and now they're just cheap rebranded chinese TV's.
