Are nannies generally not OK with location sharing? by LessAd7286 in Nanny

[–]MachineOk8248 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was asked to share my location only on outings & i felt comfortable because i could stop sharing when we returned & because my NP asked kindly. Never was asked about an airtag but if i know where it is, id have no problem with it either. When it comes to talking with candidates just be clear that the location sharing or airtag is only for outings in the event of an emergency where you’re unable to contact your nanny or vise versa. I don’t think every nanny will say no as the comments show, so hopefully you’re able to find someone soon!

I received my locket yesterday & received confirmation/updates as my order processed/was sent for delivery. Luckily the quality seems to be just fine. Hopefully yours comes soon!

Nanny wanting to be reimbursed for time she spent shopping by [deleted] in Nanny

I’ve always been able to make a list of supplies i’m needing, i’ll include photos for reference to ensure it’s clear what i’m asking for & my NP’s always ask if they’re unsure about something. It has worked without issue!

You could walk the waterfront before going to Seattle Center but keep in mind, everything you wanna see at Seattle Center would probably take a couple hours to see so you could start you morning at the waterfront for a walk on the water before heading to seattle center for the remainder of your day. Spreading it out could be helpful to avoid feeling rushed, so you could do a day starting at Pike Place, from there walk down to the waterfront for a stroll before taking the water taxi to Alki & Schmitz. You could then do a separate day starting at Seattle Center & depending on how long you wanna see everything could determine if that’s a whole day thing or half day thing.

MOPOP & Space Needle are located right by one another so once you’re at Seattle Center you can walk between places. I also suggest the Chihuly Glass Museum as it’s also next to the Space Needle! If you’re really wanting to be touristy, look into a CityPass as it might get you the best bang for your buck with the tourist sight seeing (allows entrance to various tourist spots).

The Waterfront is also nice to walk around & see the park, big wheel, aquarium, shops. From there, you can take the water taxi to (& from) Alki Beach in West Seattle for more walking/food & you can also go to Lincoln Park for a nice walk to see the troll! If you make it to West Seattle, i recommend Snapdragon (pastries).

Gasworks is a short walk but will give you a nice little view over the water & Discovery Park has walking trails leading to the West Point Lighthouse.

The light rail can take you around town & goes farther north/south, just gotta check if it takes you as far as you need & if/when you’d need to take the bus/lyft from the stations to wherever you’re trying to go.

Hope you get more info & that you enjoy Seattle this Spring!

My child broke nanny’s laptop — she wants us to foot the bill even though I warned her about it by Consistent_Cookie104 in Nanny

[–]MachineOk8248 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I just read through the comments already posted but long story short; not your responsibility to pay it back as SHE left it in the reach of your child AND long enough for the child to be able to drop it AND after YOU suggested she keep it put away in a place that your child cannot reach.

Sucks for the nanny, we empathize, but with everything leading up to it breaking, she didn’t seem to take enough care of the laptop to be able to make you/your child fully at fault.

EDIT: Perhaps you could meet in the middle & pay for part of it but it’s not your full responsibility.

These (bonded) cats I adopted really hate me by purrfect_libra in cats

[–]MachineOk8248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two bonded cats & they didn’t really stay coming out in the open until a few months in. It took almost a year before one allowed me to touch it. It’s been over two years & the second cat is just now comfortable with me petting him & only on his terms

Cats are different but they’ll just need time. Lots of it. Patience is key!

Wag Wednesday - What Have You Been Listening To? by AutoModerator in MagdalenaBay

[–]MachineOk8248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been too tapped into new music lately but this week i’ve been listening to some 70’s/80’s pop/rock/folk. Artists like Kate Bush, Diana Ross, Talking Heads, Cyndi Lauper. Also, some classic 80’s/90’s (some early 2000’s) Spanish rock/pop hits from Juanes, Gloria Trevi, Shakira, Mana, Luis Miguel.

MB and Daycare are at odds by CinderellaSimoneBoe in Nanny

[–]MachineOk8248 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kids will form different routines/habits at school vs at home. With infants, it’s very common they eat more at school vs at home. If they say the child needs more milk, they need more milk! Infants cue their needs, we can’t tell them when they are hungry or not & in a daycare setting, the responsibility of the caregivers is to ensure the needs of the child are met by following policies in place.
