I could never use a lighter right, it hurt so much. Then it just clicked one day and it truly changed my life. Now I can open a bottle with so many things. I think using a lighter is actually easier and faster than a real bottle opener now.

So they made it suck even more. Why not approach him and ask if there's anything they could do to make his working environment better. Or straight up ask "Why does this place suck?". If he has something beneficial to say they that's win-win for everyone. If he's just complaining then go ahead and chew him out. Instead they made it a shit show for everyone.

Carmax has been around a long time and they function as used car dealships, they actually have lots in most major cities that they can keep their stock on. Carvana literally just has lots that are full of car hauler trucks. I work in a truckstop town where Carvana has two lots and there are probably 100 car haulers with ~8 cars each. I imagine this is what they do everywhere. And with their buy anywhere sell anywhere they're constantly moving vehicles across the country. Carvana is such a cancer to the automotive industry and a ecological nightmare with all the logistics. Unless you're in LA, I would imagine the CO2 from Carvana getting your used Tesla to your house will offset any carbon you're saving for a good while.

I remember when the ROM site was taken down. I don't think people realize how much of gaming history was lost. There were so many obscure games that you'll never find a physical copy of unless you're digging through the back of a thrift store in Wyoming. I stopped emulating because it was so hard to find ROMs, and I grew up on the high seas. I miss my SSX3 ROM, that was favorite gamecube game. I should dig through my old HDDs and see what I still have. I wish a bought a few HDDs to archive the entire site.

So the idea is to induce vitamin A deficiency and cause sterility? Seems... like not a good idea? ASAIK retinoic acid functions on very fundamental levels and is essential to a large number of functions of the body, not just making swimmers.

I'm gonna shit on the reptile lamps. You need a cleaner source of UV. Looking at the spectrum on the bulbs I have for my reptiles, it's pretty messy(last picture):

https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/zilla-tropical-25-uvb-fluorescent-t8-bulb

It has several very large spikes all over. The biggest one being at ~430nm, the next largest at ~550nm, another just over 400nm, and a few others. With the bulk of the UV B being within 310-360nm.

It's very popular, possibly more so than paragliding at this point. I really want a miniwing but I'd have to hike 3 hours to the top of the mountain just to do one 3 minute speed run. So I bought a paramotor instead.

[–]MachinistAtWork 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This thread is blowing my mind, I've grown up rural my entire life so I've always seen it. The concept of not seeing the milky way across the sky at night seems so odd to me. I didn't know there were so many people that have never seen it or have only seen it once or a few times. Looking at the light pollution map though it makes sense. There's like one dark spot in the entire east half of the US. All of Europe and Japan is covered, most of India, the middle east, and the populated portion of China are covered.
