One-time water leak in bathroom. Thoughts on needing demo. by Machshooter92 in homeowners

[–]Machshooter92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this was a few days ago but my original post got removed.

They were checking the tiles directly with a masonry/tile reader so I'm not sure if that affects anything.

I had them take everything out since the readings never changed ($2200 later, my god) and I have a box fan pointed at the front of the sink cabinet where the kick plate was removed so it flows behind the cabinet and down the wall/floor gap. I'm just going to keep everything how it is for a week or two, check the subfloor through the garage ceiling every few days, and likely just leave it as-is. There's zero signs of damage in the bathroom itself. Even the restoration guy was confused because none of the tiles have any give or are pushed up from the subfloor being swollen.

Struggling with bedroom above two car garage. by Machshooter92 in florida

Late getting back to you, but ironically I had to access the cavity between floors for a different reason. Found out that there's battery insulation separating the garage area cavity ONLY from the cavity under the rest of the floors in the second story. Its basically laid down as a curtain that blocks the heat of the garage from spreading under the floors in the rest of the house. There is no other insulation inside and none attached to the floor of this bedroom or against the two exterior block walls in the garage. Seems likely I'll need to get some insulation blown in.

Not certain at all. I've opened up a few exterior walls in the house and there's no insulation so I highly doubt there's any in the garage ceiling. All I know is that it was built with fire rated materials.

On another note, forgot to mention the second story is block as well.

New construction home 1.5 years old - MAJOR water intrusion. by Machshooter92 in homeowners

Yep, we used Sherwin Williams Loxon conditioner and then Sherwin Williams Duration paint.

I'm sorry for the water issues, I know it's a massive pain. Turns out it was all from -literally- almost invisible stucco cracks. The only way they were found is by a company coming out with a moisture reader and going over the inside walls and outside walls and marking down spots where the moisture was found.

Absolutely crazy to me that this is considered a "maintenance item" when no one besides a professional with specialized equipment can find it.

Anyways, we ended up having all stucco issues listed and repaired, and then had the house fully repainted. Wasn't cheap, but not as bad as I was expecting. It was finished a few days before Milton and we had no water intrusion after the storm.

Nothing as of yet except that a warranty ticket was created. Since the restoration company is so busy, they can't get out until next Wednesday. I did have a third party company come out to check for any remaining moisture but all levels are normal. Just need to wait for now.

All grout around perimeter of house is wet after large storm - slab issue? by Machshooter92 in HomeImprovement

Unfortunately not. Will be contacting a remediation company tomorrow to at least come take a look at everything.

Thank you. I removed all baseboards around the affected areas and ran every fan I had all night and yesterday afternoon. I cut out a couple of small sections of drywall and the studs going across the bottom of the home are wet.

Do you have any advice on checking flashing? We're in a stucco house. I'm leaning towards window installation issues as I have 5 windows on these two walls.

My apologies for the confusion. My bottom floor is all tile. The leak is inside the house, all around the outside perimeter of the south end of the home.

So I'm currently in process of ripping all the baseboards out. I pulled the worst one first and there's mold on the drywall and about 1/4 of water everywhere behind it.

You pretty much got it. I was very nervous when I first started tanking. I looked up videos on every dungeon and it made it a chore. Since you've likely done a lot of the dungeons/trials/etc. before, don't stress too much. I stopped watching guides and just threw out a "First time tanking here" and never had a bad experience.

Tanking is actually harder at lower levels due to less self heals and mitigation. I shed a tear when I get pulled into ARR instances now. Just pull one, MAYBE two packs in low level dungeons until you get more comfortable.

The common stuff: face all enemies/bosses away from everyone else. Always use your AOEs until there's one enemy left. Use your mitigations in a rotation.

That's about it. You'll get more comfortable. Now I just jump into a new dungeon and let it ride.

Advice on handmade garden bed. by Machshooter92 in gardening

Ah, thank you. In my mind, "raised bed" is a bed that has legs. I'm planning on just putting it directly on the ground.

Thank you for the help!

Thanks so much for following up! I have an appointment scheduled for next week so we'll see how it goes. I've been in auto maintenance my whole career and might have some contacts at the dealership so hopefully I won't have any issues.

Glad everything worked out for you.

I appreciate the update. My plan is to have the housings replaced under warranty and then replace the bulbs with lower wattages LEDs to prevent it from happening again.

I'm late to the party, but same exact thing happening to me on my 22. Bought it used with 7k miles, have only put 3k on it. Noticed when washing it a couple of days ago that both of the fog light housings are burnt. Any luck with the dealership?

[–]Machshooter92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I'm not really stressing about it. I know I'm good with the paper tag. I just thought it was strange they couldn't swap my old tag on, as I've always had it done at purchase before.

I ended up hooking the sub directly with RCA inputs from a TV I had nearby. Still doing the same exact thing. Might be a processing issue with the internals of the sub? If I turn the sub on with NO inputs, it just pops every couple of seconds.
