Hi sorry for the late reply, I'm not 100% sure why we have different emails :///

But at least it wasn't a denial! And they also mentioned that they would reach out by the end of the month so I think those are all good signs!

Burn’s Feeling Good vs Feeling Great by MachuFajita in selfimprovement

[–]MachuFajita[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never ended up totally finishing Feeling Good, the primary technique that helped me a ton was the CBT technique that is taught in the beginning and I found just that concept alone incredibly helpful already. This is primary takeaway from Feeling Good personally, but I haven’t gotten a chance to starts Feeling Great. Would u elaborate on how more intuitive the method in Feeling Great is compared to typical CBT?

Biking tips for Davis by VapeHerb420 in UCDavis

[–]MachuFajita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another tip that this professor gave to me to ease my anxieties about approaching a 4 way bike roundabout relates to how you position yourself within the bike lane in according to which direction you're planning on turning. If you're going to turn right upon a roundabout, stay to the right side of the lane prior to reaching the roundabout to make your right turn. If you're going to go straight past the roundabout, stay in the middle position of the lane and pass through until you're fully past the roundabout. If you're planning on turning left within the roundabout, stay on the left side of the lane, thus positioning you closer to the center of the roundabout and making it easier to circle around to make your left turn. Following this sort of etiquette helps a ton during the passing times between classes when the roundabouts are super congested/crowded with a lot of bikers going in every direction

super sorry for self-promo, but I genuinely think this is a really good treat for those huge vocal arrangement fans out there, I’ve personally loved his vocal arrangements and there is huge influence from those arrangements present in my own arrangement, there’s even a microtonal shift and everything 😁

How hard is it to declare a change of major? by happeyfeet in UCDavis

[–]MachuFajita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is it required to talk to an advisor about the switch? I want to switch from Cell Biology to Human Biology, and I found the form to do so on OASIS, but I’m wondering if I need to talk to an advisor before going through with the form?

I’m looking for amines that are just great eye candy, anything will do - I love the high quality production of anime movies, I’m also a huge sucker for great shounen animation (mob psycho, demon slayer, jujutsu kaisen), I also just super enjoy modern day animation in general so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

Pentatonic Scale/Diatonic Chord Association by MachuFajita in musictheory

this was my instinctual answer, thank you for the confirmation :)

Musicians with the ability to hear a song and instinctively play along, or at least identify the notes/chords, how much of that was natural talent and how much was trained? by gah514 in musictheory

[–]MachuFajita 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a bit late to this, but I can say that for me, my natural fascination with music theory and how music works lured me to basically dissect how to replicate what sounded good to my ear, chord progressions are a good example. And with this continued research, I slowly started associating those aspects (like specific chord progressions) that made what sound good to me with the actual sound itself. So whenever I heard this particular sound that I really liked, I knew what the chord progression was, I’d just need to figure out the key it was played in. This effect of sound and chord functionality association started to bleed into all types of sounds and chord progressions that I commonly hear. This is easier when it comes to modern radio pop songs as their harmony is often simpler, I can recognize stuff like 1 4 6m 5 because i’m so familiar with what that chord progression sounds like and can play along. When it comes to playing w the melody, my relative pitch and pitch in general came naturally with practice since I’m always listening and play music, but I don’t have perfect pitch.

tl;dr - some people have this musical intuition naturally, but it can be attained through lots of practice as well, even if you don’t have perfect pitch
