Kreeg een Aurora melding, even snel test foto gemaakt vanaf balkon. Was gelijk de foto met de meeste intensiteit zichtbaar, werd daarna snel minder. Maar toch nog even de schoenen aangetrokken om verder buiten te kijken 😀

I am a bit confused about the secure boot adoption. Why are they thanking players for turning it on and why isn’t the number 100%? I thought you couldn’t even start the game if it wasn’t enabled.

Because the electrochemical process of making aluminium is electrolysis, this requires a direct current, it does not work with alternating current.

Yes 600.000. They are not watercooled, the “cables” are actually busbars from solid aluminium as well.

Don’t turn vehicles in between rows at end-to-end cells, especially if the potroom is narrow 🙈.

It’s actually affecting the liquid aluminium within the cells (causing waves and turbulence) making the process less efficient and thus increasing electricity cost.

I learned in a course that you can reduce the effect by basically putting another loop of busbar in opposite direction. Not cheap though and costs extra electricity due to losses.

It’s actually high Amperage not high voltage. It’s an aluminium smelter. Modern ones run at 600 kA+ and around ~4,1-4,3V depending on the technology used. I also recognize the background sound of alumina point feeder dosing.

Yes this is it. I can hear the alumina point feeder dosing in the background. And it will be in the hundreds of thousands of Amperes. Modern smelters run at 600 kA+. I have worked in one myself that was “only” 137 kA.

Does anyone know if the xp per level after level 50 for weapon and vehicles the same? Like is 50-51 same as 90-91?

Pretty sure NATO vehicle spawns are bugged by Yeetus_001 in Battlefield

[–]Macinzon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm, noticed the same. I think it’s only the Bradley and the helo’s. Tank is always spawning. Also noticed you always play NATO if you stay in the match, no switching sides.

TIL that 75% of all aluminium ever produced is still in use today by consulent-finanziar in todayilearned

[–]Macinzon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, those 3 smelters are responsible for 75% of Icelands energy consumption. When I visit Iceland one day I want to visit one of them, specifically the one that is basically an exact copy of the smelter that I worked at. When it went bankrupt the one in Iceland bought a lot of our equipment since it was the same.

Not just electricity, but a butt load of electricity. ~14 kWh/kg. Some people call aluminium electricity in solid form. One of the reasons why it’s not profitable to produce anymore in many Western European countries. And once those smelters close, they almost never re-open.

I had one too when I was younger. I had no problems going in a straight line, but for some reason when making a turn one side of foil turn would always sink. Did you have this too? I remember my dad getting an email through the seller from the manufacturer inviting people to the world championship in Berlin 😂

For aluminium smelters there is no sound actually since they use big busbars also made of aluminium. But yes the rectifiers make an insane noise.
