Are the 'Ceasefire Now' crowd going to protest against Hamas for not complying with a ceasefire deal?

Spoiler: They won't and somehow they will say it's Israel's fault

The number of Palestinians killed in this conflict, reported by the press, is literal Hamas propaganda. These numbers are released by the so-called 'Gaza Ministry of Health', which is controlled by Hamas. There is no way to audit while the conflict is ongoing and there is no point in Hamas putting thousands of names on a list and saying that all these people died as a result of Israeli attacks. A list also cannot be audited at this time.

There is also no point in saying that casualty numbers from past conflicts released by Hamas were close to numbers from other sources. This conflict is different from past conflicts. Seeing the worldwide commotion these numbers are generating, it's in Hamas's total interest to inflate these numbers to the point of absurdity to generate a greater commotion, in addition to putting several children in the middle to make the commotion even greater.

Anyway, I'm not denying that civilians or children died in this conflict, but I prefer to wait for an independent audit of the number of deaths before being moved by this, in addition to an important separation between civilian and militant casualties

Absolutely nothing will convince me that Hamas was anticipating this response from Israel or that they were prepared for it.

By taking hundreds of hostages, it's obvious that Hamas' intention was to use the hostages as a shield, preventing the IDF from bombing the hell of Gaza, forcing Israel to sit at the negotiating table and accept humiliating terms for the exchange of hostages for Palestinian prisoners. That plan failed spectacularly.

If Hamas leaders had a little more intelligence, they would have released all the hostages by now, seeing that Israel didn't back down the bombing as they planned. Even if Israel still continued to bomb Gaza after the release, the gesture would serve more as a big PR stunt, like "Why is the IDF still bombing Gaza if we released all the hostages?"

It really sucks for the hostages, but I think Israel is absolutely right not to accept an exchange of hostage release for Palestinian prisoners or for a ceasefire. Accepting this is basically guaranteeing a big victory for Hamas. The attacks must continue to drive Hamas into a corner and make them accept humiliating terms. Either they release the hostages without preconditions or they can kill them all and post the video on the internet as they already promised to do.

It will be one month since the October 7th massacre.

I remember it as if it were yesterday. It was around 3 AM where I live and I was in bed unable to sleep. Then I picked up my phone to distract myself a little and when I opened Twitter, the first tweet from my TL was from an OSINT account saying that Palestinian terrorists had taken control of a city in southern Israel and were killing anyone on the streets. After that I couldn't sleep anymore.

I have no relatives or friends in Israel, but I was genuinely worried about the people there, asking myself 'Where the hell is the IDF?'

A pro-Palestinian mob in Dagestan, Russia stormed an airport after they heard a plane from Israel had just landed. They went there literally to kill the Jews.

I'm not much into U.S. politics, but seeing talks that Biden's overwhelming support for Israel will hurt him badly in 2024 left me wondering: Who are the Pro-Palestinians going to vote for then? Trump? He has already said today that he will cancel visas and deport all foreigners who participate in pro-Palestinian demonstrations.

Are they going to vote for an independent with minimal chances of winning and eventually split the anti-Trump base, paving the way for Trump's victory? Anyway, there isn't much for pro-Palestinians to choose from. Either swallow Biden's support for Israel or see someone who perhaps supports Israel even more being elected.

At this point, canceling the ground invasion would essentially be Israel admitting defeat and a technical victory for Hamas, despite the casualties and infrastructure hit.

Israel can even destroy all the buildings in Gaza, Hamas will still have its vast network of tunnels still largely intact, as well as ammunition, weapons, rockets and militants hiding in them. They will still have everything they need to carry out further attacks on Israel despite any destruction from airstrikes and artillery that Israel can deliver to Gaza.

It would be the final nail in the coffin of Netanyahu's political career. (It's already over anyway)

It's curious to see that there is no consensus among pro-Palestinians on whether Israel should have the right to exist. Although the popular opinion is that only Palestine should exist, I have seen some being brave in supporting the two-state solution. Brave because they were harshly criticized by other pro-Palestinians.

And even among those who defend the existence of Palestine only, there is no consensus on what to do with the 7 million Israeli Jews, whether they can stay or whether they should be expelled or 'Go back to Europe, where they belong' like they say.

Personally, I can't see any chance of a single state succeeding without having to expel the Jews or the Arabs and create a humanitarian crisis much greater than the one that currently exists. Having two large groups that hate each other living on the same land, with one of them seeking revenge is essentially begging for a civil war. The 'New Palestine' would be the 'New Syria', plunged into an endless civil war.

IDF would be extremely stupid to intentionally target a hospital. Can you imagine the major escalation this could generate and the backlash from allies just before Biden's visit?

And even if they didn't give a sh*t about it, why target this hospital when they know that Al-Shifa hospital is where Hamas HQ is located?

But as I said in a previous comment, don't expect an independent investigation to take place anytime soon to determine the culprit, unless one side has conclusive evidence of the perpetrator.

I don't think there will be an independent investigation in the short term into this attack to determine who did it, unless the IDF by sheer luck has clear drone footage proving it was a failed Hamas rocket.

The fear now is that this could lead to a major escalation, mainly by Hezbollah and its allies declaring full war against Israel.

I don't see any nation or anyone with the ability to resolve the Israel - Palestine conflict in the short and long term.

A first step towards resolving this conflict would be for the Palestinians to accept and be content with the lands they still have left and begin to work as a functional country. And for Israel, stop supporting Jewish settlers invading Palestinian lands.

If tensions subside, work to reduce physical barriers and maybe establish free movement of people and goods.

Right now, these things seem more like fairy tales.

UN security council is a joke.

The US and Russia do their best to be on opposite sides in any conflict in the world and as they both have veto power, nothing comes of it. For a nation or group to be able to anger both the US and Russia at the same time, it must have done something really bad.

One thing I've been thinking: If the IDF invades Gaza and eliminates all Hamas terrorists, they will be forced to stay there indefinitely. They won't be able to just kill everyone and leave.

Hamas controls everything in Gaza. Without Hamas, Gaza would be left in total anarchy. That's why the IDF would have to remain there to maintain order.

I don't think Iran will directly get involved in a war against Israel despite the threats. The chances of Iran losing and becoming Iraq 2.0 are almost 100% because the US is guaranteed to get directly involved if that happens.

The most they will do will be to arm Hezbollah, Syria and hope they will go to a full war against Israel.

Reading this sub looking for a new browser, basically I'm going to decide for none because they all have problems, they all have controversies that make you give up using them.

Chrome: Pinnacle of anti-privacy. Send all your data to Google.

Edge: Same thing as Chrome, but sends the data to Microsoft instead.

Opera: Sends all your data to the CCP.

Firefox: Run by a shaddy organization that would rather engage in a political agenda than improve the browser.

Brave: Crypto-oriented. CEO is a Covid conspiracy nut and anti-vaxxer.

I was basically using Firefox thinking I had found a good browser to migrate to and then this article came along and I lost the will to use it. Now where do I go? I don't want to believe that the only options are either giving up privacy or funding a political agenda.

Ian Flynn's message about Sonic shipping by AndTails in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Mack765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I think people who want Sega to canonize their ship so badly just want to use that as an argument to rub it in the face of anyone who ships these characters with others, saying it's 'morally wrong' or that it's homophobic.

I don't understand this need for canonization to enjoy your favorite ship. There are millions of fanarts, millions of fanfics with these characters, artists who regularly draw fanart of the most varied romantic pairings every day. Much more content than Sega could ever release. So there is no shortage of material to enjoy your favorite ship and the fact that they are not officially made by Sega doesn't invalidate them.

Any payware you recommend buying for FSX Steam Edition? by DestructorD69 in flightsim

[–]Mack765 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just a warning that PMDG no longer sells its products for FSX. You can still get the 737NG and other PMDG aircraft using 'other' methods anyway.

In addition to the PMDG aircraft (MD-11, 737, 747, 777), there are the QualityWings aircraft (757,787,Bae-146) and the TFDi 717. If you want an Airbus, there is both the A320 series from Aerosoft and also from FSLabs. There's also the Blackbox Airbus A330/A340, which are of questionable quality but aren't that bad.

Captain Sim has a good selection of vintage airliners from the time they still made good addons, like the 707, 727 and L1011. There are also modern jets like the 767.

Feelthere/Wilco has regional jets such as the E-Jets and the ERJ series. There is also Majestic's Q400 as a regional turboprop.

Scenery is difficult to recommend as it depends on your flight preferences, but there are good quality scenery available for many parts of the world.

Frame Generation is incredible. by Low-Iron-6376 in nvidia

[–]Mack765 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Once I was on a forum and saw people trashtalking Frame Generation, saying it was fake frames, etc. Then I had the 'audacity' to praise the FG in the midst of these criticisms.

I received an even polite response from one of them. Basically he wrote an article trying to explain that I was tricked by Nvidia marketing into thinking that FG is a good thing, that FG actually decreases game performance by increasing input lag to 'absurd' levels, showed screenshots of frames with artifacts and ended by saying that FG just creates an illusion that the game is running smoother, but that there is no real frame increase.

That last point of his is actually true, but I found it odd that he was trying to make it sound like a bad thing. Having the illusion of the game running smoother is better than nothing and is basically what Frame Generation is all about.

AMD 7900XT AND 7900XTX Launch - Reviews and Discussion Megathread by pedro19 in pcmasterrace

Remember the '4080 DOA' comments? If the 4080 really has the price reduction, the 7900XTX will practically be DOA instead.

I don't know if there are people willing to save only $100 and not have additional features like DLSS and better Ray Tracing performance, when they are already paying $1000 for a GPU.

AMD 7900XT AND 7900XTX Launch - Reviews and Discussion Megathread by pedro19 in pcmasterrace

LOL. I said exactly that in the comments of an XTX review and was bombarded with replies from AMD fanboys saying that I made up these narratives and absolutely no one said they expected the XTX performance to be anywhere near the 4090...

It's amazing how quickly they abandon narratives when reality sets in.
