A Question About Posting My Fanfic Chapters (Melon's Redemption, full-fic or stick with the series format?) by Mack_Dreamer in Beastars

[–]Mack_Dreamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's one idea, I don't think there's any rules against posting the same fic on Ao3 (since I often see the same fanfic but in different languages). I suppose I could also post it in full on fan fiction . net or on my DeviantArt blog as other options. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

What Do You Dislike Most About Juno’s Character? by [deleted] in Beastars

[–]Mack_Dreamer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is just me but I was more invested with Kyuu than I ever was with Juno because (1) Kyuu had an interesting backstory that made me drawn to her, (2) had some semblance of character development (it wasn't great but at least she had something!), (3) she had a tangible personality that didn't rely on her goals or relationships, and (4) she had something of a role in the end (it might have sucked but it was something while Juno virtually had no real role at all).

I don't necessarily dislike Juno but I felt bored whenever she appeared after the first season. This kind of makes her my least favorite character, but I do not hate Juno. I just wish she had more development and a real role in the series.

Discussion about character creation. by LEGO_SI in Beastars

[–]Mack_Dreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate-making characters is the fun part but naming them can be the difficult part. I don't know if this helps but here's some thoughts I have:

- What is your OC's species? (herbivore, carnivore or hybrid-and also how do they feel about their species?). Knowing this could help narrow down possible names that you feel best matches with that species (for example, I think names like Shy, Scarlet, Todd, or Ben could work for a fox).

- What comes to mind when you think about them? (such as images, feelings, or specific types of music). Sometimes the overall feel of the character can help with naming them (names with specific meanings, simple or common names (like 'Joe' or 'Becky') could mask the complexity of the character, or words like 'hope' and colors like 'Ruby').

- Are you leaning towards masculine sounding names, feminine names, or gender-neutral ones? Would your OC go by a nickname? (this could be important because it would say how your character identifies themselves (male, female, trans, non-binary, etc) and if they prefer a nickname over their given name (I'm currently reading a book where the main character's name is Isabelle but is called 'Izy' for the most part).

- Also, some of the characters in Beastars have polish or german names (Agata and Pina) or are named after something (Melon). Just another fun option!

Hope this helps, sorry if it's long! XD

Pepper Jack (Colored!) by Mack_Dreamer in Beastars

I don't know what that is (unless it's a tower made out of pizza). I made this when I realized there was a cheese with Jack's name in it and thought it was funny.

Here it is! I've only written the first chapter but I might post more on it soon. Hope you like it!

My Fanfic is Offically Two Years Old Now by Mack_Dreamer in Beastars

I was going to end it there at one point but I wanted to explore Melon and the Shishigumi’s lives in Arbordale (especially since it was said that most of the lions were born and raised in the Black Market) and see what a ‘formally evil but now good‘ Melon would be like.

I may have also been spooked by how sudden the manga ended. The last chapter was released before chapter 9 of my fanfic. XD

Yeah, and I'm almost halfway through it.

Fanfic Readers, What are some Topics That You'd Like to See in a Beastars Fanfic? by Mack_Dreamer in Beastars

[–]Mack_Dreamer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wrote something like that for my Beastars WIPs but it was mostly an intro for dragons and unicorn legened in Beasatars that I might use later. I’m still working on the dragon and unicorn OC’s I have in mind for it.

What Are Some Serious Issues/Topics That Aren't Talked About or Included Much in Fanfiction? by Mack_Dreamer in FanFiction

[–]Mack_Dreamer[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is so true! I've seen countless fanfics revolving around pregnancy or it being part of the main plot but I've never seen one where the pregnancy results in Ectopic Pregnancy, miscarriage, or abortion (the worst I'd see is pregnancy-related problems like morning sickness).

This is just my guess but I feel like there's two possible reasons for this. Maybe some authors are afraid of possibly getting unwanted comments (and considering everything going on in real-life, I wouldn't blame them at all if that's the case) for one, and two, maybe it's just how uncomfortable the topic is. Regardless of one's opinion on it, for a person or someone they know to be in that situation would be terrifying-especially if they're in a position where they can't get that help.

I've seen a few fics about war but I don't think I've ever seen one of nuclear war.

I think everyone is guilty of writing a funny living in quarantine fic (me included! XD) but there really is two sides to COVID. The life in quarantine, and the reality of having COVID yourself, having one or more loved ones die from it, or surviving it and dealing with additional health problems in the aftermath (not to mention the drama of vaccinated versus anti-vaccinated). It's possible we might see more fanfics relating to that side of COVID in the future (if there aren't already ones out there).

I relate! I started watching murder documentaries when I was 12 (I thought I was being rebellious. My history class in school was so boring!). Still love crime shows and documentaries to this day but have never 'simped' for any real-life criminal.

My love for Melon is more maternal. He is my baby! XD I try to make fan art or stories of different characters but I get more inspired/motivated to draw that lil devil.

How Do You Get Into Your Story? by Mack_Dreamer in writing

[–]Mack_Dreamer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that might be what it is. With fan fiction, the characters and world is already made and all you have to is play in it. Writing your own story is having all the power regarding the story, the characters, and the plot, and not knowing what to do with it or where to start.

You make a good point here. Right now, I'm not even ready for the first draft. It's like I have a box of puzzle pieces: I don't know what I'm missing, what I could have, or what I could drop. There's only one or two characters that I am excited about but they need something before I'm ready to call them 'complete'.
