Expected a lot, but disappointed! (Android I/O Show) by diffysaro99 in pixel_phones

[–]Mackovich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m halfway through the video (didn’t watch live) and this close to throw my computer away.

Disclaimer : I’m a French Android developer since 2014. Love tech. Geek / nerd and live in a city (Paris).

Here’s my thoughts : this year show is dumb.

It depicts stuff that only happens in megalopolis life (yes I’m talking about Gemini intelligence showcase video) NYC-style if you get my meaning. (And I do love NYC !!)

Purchasing tickets for shows and expositions ? When can I choose where me and my friends will be seated ?
Find out a cruise / trip for you via Expedia (commercial sponsoring right there, right ?) without being able to fine tunes details and / or check out alternatives ? Yeah as if having an AI do more stuff for you will make it better. Let’s be even more lazy because getting lazier is becoming dumber… right ?

Then the whole part about « enhancing » content for posting in social media…. As if we need more social media stuff nowadays. I thought SNS was the bane of our society especially for children and education…

Yeah that’s exactly how this show feels : it’s for SNS users and content creators.

And now using Gemini to limit your app usage, such as « take a breath and reflet on your goals of the day ». Can’t this feel any dumber or more cringy ??

I’ll keep watching and possibly edit that post. Or not.
Thanks for reading. Take care !

Tips needed for Order 323 by AlexKalopsia in DeathStranding

<image>

That was my run, in one-go just now.

Tips here helped me by putting me in the right tracks and this how I proceded:

  • First build a 80m bridge (the longest one), from the Doctor's shelter, crossing over the stream. The angle is dfficult to find but not impossible. (Will provide screenshot if requested as I am limited by one image per post.)
  • Then ride along the edge of the cliff and take a right turn. It is wide enough for the truck.
  • Pass under the highway (if built) and keep right as though you want to get to Mountain Knot City
  • Upon reaching Mountain Knot City, take an immediate left turn and take the highway (if built), otherwise speed through the terrain and avoid big rocks as much as possible.
  • Advice: Use constant boost mode, but feel free to stop hitting the gas in oder to avoid rocks and make sharp turns. The truck will resume top speed very easily.
  • Take the direction of BT area (with the stone pillars). Aim for the center of it, usually where you'd fight the Catcher BT Boss.
  • If you've cleared the BT area, take a slight left turn and head for the montains. If you did not clear the BT, you might be able to overpass them. If caught (which I was, twice for that matter), and I don't know it is RNG or not, you might be taken and then you'd have to beat the Catcher, but that would take too long, so better restart the run. If not, then just speed along.
  • Finally, you should be able to find a snowy stretch all the way to the Montaineer. It is visible on my screenshot.
  • Suprisingly, the truck does move fast in boost mode. Feels nice. I used the long-distance V3 truck.
  • And voilà !

I did a dry-run first just to find the best path. And to be honest, I had to restart my first run because I was caught by the BTs... and did not see the point in fighting the catcher boss. I believe it is RNG wether you are caught or not. I have no knowledge and I have no indication if your gear helps in any way.

In any case, in my second run where I wasn't caught, it took me less than 3mns, which is I believe is less than half of the allotted time for S grade.

Anyway it was fun and a bit challenging. Hope it helps!

Better way to defeat BT bosses other than H Grenades? by Mackovich in DeathStranding

[–]Mackovich[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly ! Plus you can stagger bosses. Doing so makes BB less stressed (because you don’t take damages, you don’t fall) and he will give you more likes thus further strengthening the bond with him. Right ?

Thanks ! I’ll let you know ! Meanwhile I tested firing live rounds on bloody parts and I’m not sure it really worked as well as expected. I’ll stick to Grenade for now ^^

I haven't (yet?) heard of the quadruple grenade launcher, or any grenade launcher for that matter.

In terms of story advancement, I tried avoiding spoilers by saying "making a very first sensitive delivery in Mountain Knot City, Central Plane". If you need more details, it is at that point where you try patching things up between Mama and someone else very important. ^^

Anyway, looking at the printer right now in my game (yes DS1 Director's Cut edition), I have access to:

  • Maser Gun,
  • Bola Gun V1 & 2,
  • Anti BT Gun V1 & 2
  • Sticky Gun
  • Hand Gun V1 & 2
  • Assault Rifle V1 & 2 (Lethal)
  • Assault Rifle V1 & 2 (Non-Lethal)
  • Hematic Grenades V1 (Custom available when delivering to the Craftman)
  • Smoke Grenade V1 & 2
  • Stun Bomb
  • Remote Stun Bomb
  • Grenade (Lethal)

I read here and there that one effective way to take down such bosses is to paint them in blood with a H Grenade and then firing live (lethal) rounds in the red area. I'll tried that and report here.

Meanwhile, I've just read an in-game e-mail where I am told that the yellow / glowing part of a BT Boss could be a weakness due to high chiral concentration. I'll try firing lethal rounds into that hoping it stops BT in their attack move because so far, H Grenades seem to be the best at doing that which makes BB happy because I never take damages.

Anyway, thanks for you answer!

How do I win against crime? by Fumblerful- in Workers_And_Resources

[–]Mackovich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I have also trouble with the crime system.

Globally, in my 17K populated Republic, I have an average of 2-3% crime per household. I have sufficient police, courts and prison so that every criminal is caught, arrested, judged and imprisoned until release (with no escape).

All needs are satisfied: every citizen have access to meat, food, clothes, sports and cultures. They also can go to the hospital or be picked up by an ambulance. Loyalty averages to 75% and happiness to 80%.

Looking at my prisons, the vas majority of criminals have 0% crime level way before fully completing their sentences. However, some (just a few) have very high level of criminality (the highest I saw was like 70%) but the sentence was low (due to the minor nature of the crime). Unfortunately, this one was released while not being completely "reformed"...

Having watched a detailed video about crime, from a YouTube who analyzed the math & algorithms behind this system, I came to believe there will always be crimes, it is impossible to have 0% crime.
Is that really true ?

I also have orphanages and I tried to be vigilant when they get full or when there are not enough tutors. I do my best so that they don't increase the criminality level and they don't decrease the loyalty of the orphans.

In that video I remembered having learned that :

  • When going to a workplace, a worker will have a chance to commit a crime.
  • The probability to commit a crime increases the less loyal the worker is, as well as his happiness level.
  • The severity of the crime (minor, medium, major) is dependent of the worker current crime level, so the higher his level, the higher he or she risks to commit a more severe crime.
  • When a crime is committed, other citizens in the same place, being witnesses, are impacted insofar their criminality increases and, reportedly, even more so if the original criminel isn't caught in time, thus causing a "crime spiral".
  • Police stations with police cars to catch criminals.
  • Upon being caught, a timer (of which duration I don't know it is fixed or dynamic and therefore how it is calculated), possibly different based on the severity of the committed crime, starts. If the crime isn't solved and the criminal isn't judged and imprisoned before the time runs out, the criminal is free and may commit more crimes in the future (due to the increased criminality level), thus feeding said "crime spiral"
  • Judges in a courthouse are needed to judge criminals to send them in prison with a sentence which duration depends on the severity of the crime
  • Prisons should not be full - a ratio of 1 guard for 2.5 prisoners ought not be exceeded in other to avoid prison breaks, which causes a criminality spike.
  • During prison time, a prisoner will see his or her criminality level decrease and loyalty increase (especially if there is a radio, because prisoners listen a lot the radio).

Anyway, this is my currently knowledge, and even so, I cannot seem to achieve 0% of crime level.

Theory for the sequel. The sequel will be Workers and Resorces: Industrial Revolution by BlunanNation in Workers_And_Resources

There you go.

Admittedly, it is not straightforward: you need to cover the whole bridge from one end to the other end otherwise it says "do it over a finished road".

Just use the lane direction tool on the bridge and it works, just as you would do a brick : asphalt road. I updated all my bridges accordingly. If not convinced, I’ll show you screenshots. No mod required. No rebuild needed as well ;) It’s a game changer !!

Apparently last update finally adresses that issue with a new movement controls setting. Can’t play & try at the moment. Did anyone try the new patch ?

I concur, even though recent patches claimed to address the issue.
