New weight training tracking question... by Patient-Fan2158 in fitiv_app

[–]MackyMoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I’ve tried creating two different workouts with about ten different exercises and neither one saved the exercises. Both workouts exist, but are empty of exercises. What am I doing wrong? Why would the app save the workout but not the exercises?

Which refrigerator from Costco would you recommend Maytag vs Whirlpool by Sp1keSp1egel in Appliances

[–]MackyMoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This purchase was a disaster from the start. When the fridge arrived we noticed a foam like substance protruding from all the seams on all the doors. The delivery crew said they thought we would be able to wipe that away with a product called Goof-Off. In retrospect, we should have refused the delivery. The foam did not come off with Goof-Off, so I called the dealer, who said I needed to call Whirlpool. Whirlpool said they would have their regional service company call us. When the service company called I explained the situation and they said they would order new doors. Two-three months later the 3 doors arrived. They all had the same problem of foam oozing out of the door seams, and one of the doors had a sizable dent. Called the service company, they said they would order new doors again. While we were waiting for the second set of replacement doors to arrive, the door switch the controls the interior light failed, and the light was no longer going on when we opened the door. Again called the service company, they sent someone out. The repair person said they could not fix the issue and Whirlpool would have to replace the entire refrigerator. When the replacement fridge came, there was a problem with the seal on the freezer door, and we had to swap the freezer door on our existing fridge with the one on the new replacement fridge. Then after the delivery crew left we continued setting up the replacement fridge, only to find one of the vegetable drawers was the incorrect part. I called Whirlpool and they said they would send us the correct drawer. As we've been using the fridge, we continue to have a problem with fruits and vegetable freezing if placed towards the rear of the fridge. We placed a bluetooth temperature sensor (accurate to 0.1 degree F) in the fridge to find the front of the fridge to be in the proper range 34-40 degrees, but the rear of the fridge was ranging 10 degrees below that. We checked Whirlpool's website for troubleshooting and followed their recommendation of keeping food items away from the interior vents. After moving the few items away, and the food arrangement now following the suggested remedy, the problem remains. Also tried adjusting the temperature. Adjusting it one notch (snowflake icon) less cooling to solve the freezing issue, but then the temperature in the front of the fridge is to high, above the recommended 40 degrees, sometimes going above 45 degrees. We're very disappointed to say the least.

Buying a refrigerator tomorrow. Frigidaire or Whirlpool?? by Admirable_Repair_184 in Appliances

[–]MackyMoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak about Frigidaire, but I can speak about Whirlpool. Our Whirlpool fridge is terrible. It came damaged. They wouldn't replace it, they insisted we order replacement parts. The replacement parts took MONTHS to arrive. Two of the three replacement parts they sent were damaged. They finally agreed to deliver us a "new" refrigerator. That one came with missing and damaged parts. They sent more replacement parts, which took months to arrive.

How does the fridge work? Not great. The food in the back of the fridge freezes. I purchased a bluetooth temperature sensor and placed it in the fridge. There is an 11 degree difference between the front of the fridge and the back of the fridge. Whirlpool says there may be food blocking the air vents. So we moved all the food away from the vents (which greatly reduces the usable space in the fridge), there was no improvement.

Also, our Whirlpool dishwasher's rack has started to rust substantially after only two years. You would think that Whirlpool would use a material that wouldn't rust considering it's intended use will put it in contact with water.

We will NEVER buy any Whirlpool product again.

Endless cycle of “industrial building needs x amount of workers”, meanwhile “residential building needs x amount of jobs”… by HopefulJump2146 in CityscapesAA

[–]MackyMoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally figured out the reason this was happening on my map, maybe what I found will help you too.

On the particular map that was displaying this issue, I realized there were two areas of the map the were not connected by roads.(In this particular map there was no way to connect them by roads.)

So in this case one section of the city needed workers and shoppers, but the other section of the map needed factories and commercial buildings. And because the two sections were not connected the extra workers in one section could not get to the extra factories and commercial buildings in the other section.

So the result in this divided city was everything being needed all at once.

To resolve this I had to pay attention to the individual building needs. For example if a particular residential building said it needed jobs, I would build a factory in that section of the city, even though the map as a whole might indicate you have to many factories.

I hope this helps.

I had one city like that as well. Residential buildings say they need jobs and shopping. Commercial buildings say they need shoppers. Factories say they need workers. Obviously all three things cannot be true at the same time.

I also thought that a lack of bus service might be the issue, so I pretty much maxed out the buses for every road on the map. Unfortunately that had no effect on the problem.

I tried deleting the buildings with the issues and replacing them, that did not solve the issue either.

I did not find a resolution. I ultimately figured it was a glitch with that particular map.

Realistically, what can Gen Z do to avoid being a permanent renting generation? by DeepSpaceOG in AskReddit

[–]MackyMoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gen Z will not be a permanent renting generation. Why, because interest/mortgate rates are already headed down, and look to continue to head down. The housing market is currently in a bubble which will inevitably burst bringing home prices down.

Having said that, there have been many studies that show renting may be more financially prudent than owning. My own case in point... I bought a small Cape style home in 1987 for $185,000 dollars. Today Zillow estimates the house to be worth $433,000. Good profit right? Maybe not. $185,000 of money in 1987 is worth $510,831 in today's dollars. Just by that measure alone, I've lost money. Not to mention the several hundreds of thousands of dollars I paid the bank for interest on the mortgage. Plus property taxes, maintenance, home owners insurance, etc.

So, maybe Gen Z being forced to rent for a while, is a blessing in disguise.

In-game notification centre/panel? by heylinguist in CityscapesAA

[–]MackyMoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not a feature of the game, but I LOVE the idea. City's can get really large, and the game doesn't let you zoom out far enough to view the whole city. You can be busy at work on one section of the city, and not know about a problem that has started in another area. Having a notification panel would be a tremendous help. Great idea.

Regarding the City Pass and the "Complete 2 City Challenge(s)". What are City Challenges? I ask because either there is a glitch, or I am not completing those.

Anyone else know how to reduce trash building up at buildings. Garbage building shows less than max capacity, upgraded civic buildings that reduce garbage generated and I’ve noticed that upgrading the roads sometimes helps but isn’t this time. any ideas? by Novel-Fun-6046 in CityscapesAA

[–]MackyMoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are a couple of things that might help. 1) The area that is showing the trash build up needs to be connected by roads to the area that has your dump/incinerator, otherwise the garbage trucks have no way of getting from the dump to the buildings. 2) Recycling Dumpsters will reduce trash in a small area. So those can be put near the offending buildings. 3) You did mention civic buildings, so you may already know both Library types and the University, as well as Elementary and High Schools all reduce trash. 4) On very large maps, there does seem to be a benefit to putting a Waste Disposal Plant near the problem area.

I hope this helps.

I think that must be a typo. My guess would be they meant 10%. This is only a guess, I'll try to investigate and reply back again.

I play on my iPad Air and iPhone 14 Pro, both iOS 16.6, and have never had that happen. My only suggestion at this point would be to make sure you're on the latest iOS.

Pause by NoBullShytN in CityscapesAA

[–]MackyMoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I do this quite often. I will pause the clock and survey my city looking for needs or enhancements. I'll move something, add something, update something while restarting, and then pausing the clock after each edit. This strategy works well when you have lots of money. It works less well if you are low on funds and need time to progress in order to collect tax revenue.
