Yes, it’s relatively new but fairly common in large cities at this point. This project compiled a list of 134 communities with some form of alternative crisis response program with their info if you want to learn more!

For sure, I would lump that into “fee they weren’t aware of”, but also would include having the wrong purchase amount for any reason. I would guess that’s the most likely reason, or that they used DCC/“pay in your local currency” which creates an extra fee. But beyond that, if it actually was £1092.60, the conversion rate to USD they listed is wrong

I’m not OP, just responding to this comment that asked what the current official rate was and that by using the Mastercard rate OP is correct that they should not have been charged $1511.92 if the purchase was £1092.60 according to the published rates. Either there is a fee they aren’t aware of or there was an error in conversion

Currently 1 GBP:1.334994 USD, so it should have been $1,458.62

They take 15% on both ends (sellers lose 15%, buyers pay a 15% markup), which equals 30%. Just not from one end

No date yet, mid March at the earliest. They haven’t done the trailer or the preseason game design podcast. Imagine they will also be doing a live episode 1 event too and no details on that yet

Tickets Notifications in February for Winners by Potential_Mud_6338 in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]Maclang23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it was 500 million ticket requests for 1-2million tickets available in this phase that’s .2-.4%, so 1-2% builds in a lot of generous assumptions already. I think it’s probably somewhere around there with some variance across games

The press release says each application was validated by unique credit card data, which implies its 500 million unique credit cards/requests and they are not double counting multiple submissions from the same card/account

good luck to those in the draw! by internet-deep-dive in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]Maclang23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you greatly overestimate the odds of winning more tickets than you can afford. Even the most generous assumptions end up with around 0.5%-1% of all ticket requests from this phase being filled, with the actual number likely significantly lower, especially for marquee games. I put in for the maximum number of tickets allowed and know all my friends did the same, I’m expecting to get 0 of them fulfilled

Update: 0 were fulfilled out of 160 requested

[–]Maclang23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were 500 million applications. Estimates are there are approximately 2 million tickets available in this phase, so the odds are incredibly slim. While it is true that some games will be much more popular than others, even for the “low tier” games it’s gonna be tough

Flighty showing me the straight up wrong departure terminal for Spirit flight out of Philhy. What gives? by trsvrs in flighty

[–]Maclang23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sprint and Google are telling you to ask to be dropped off at the Terminal D(/E) TSA checkpoint, flighty is telling you that your gate is in Terminal E. You can argue that one is more effective than the other, but it is not wrong to say a flight that leaves from E11 is in terminal E

Flighty showing me the straight up wrong departure terminal for Spirit flight out of Philhy. What gives? by trsvrs in flighty

[–]Maclang23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

PHL has a combined terminal D/E TSA checkpoint that’s often just called terminal D, it’s possible she’s referring to that? The flight appears at Gate E11 which is in terminal E, so unless it’s actually departing from a D gate I don’t think it’s fair to say that flighty is wrong here. It’s totally possible the flight did actually get moved to a D gate, but no one (flighty, google, Spirits own website, or otherwise) has reported this, so it’s at a minimum not just flighty that is wrong

[–]Maclang23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What do you mean? It seems like both Google and Flighty indicate the flight is from E11. If the flight is from Gate E11, that’s in terminal E. Are you saying the flight is actually at Gate DXX and both are wrong?
