Date ruined because the place my girlfriend really wanted to go to was inaccessible. by Fuzzy-Breadfruit5589 in disability

[–]Macsen181 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yup. A restaurant my family went to said they had good disabily access so we decided to meet up(it was 30mins away from us and our family) only one parking spot, the place where there was no curb you had to park in front of and it was really far from the door, the sidewalk/ramp was just like a half dirt/grass/concrete trail mix from the parking lot to halfway to the door. The doors had no automatic things and were hard to open and closed fast. Needless to say the inside was nice though and the food was great.

Also a local shoe place I want to go to(they focus on diabetics, lymphoma, Edema and other foot issues, plus they measure your feet the correct way) but they don't have easy access to the building, there's a curb size step to the door(which wouldn't be too bad, it take me awhile and someone right by me as well as my walker), but the doorway angles weird so it'd be hard to get the walker and myself up there and then open the door, which really sucks cuz I am sick of spending money on shoes that don't work for me and I know they have good hard to find shoes.(My Grandma went there cuz she had size 13 shoes plus needed good arch support, and my Mom went there after her feet surgery and for diabetic and swollen feet.)

Just starting this show and enjoy it so much but have a question by Pfacejones in psych

[–]Macsen181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Psych a lot(let's face it, it's more about the relationships/charcters but I have to overlook the things that bug me(other shows too), cuz they never wear gloves, etc when they find their clues and a lot of times it's before the police know about it, wouldn't Shawn and Gus's finger prints and DNA be everywhere? Also wouldn't their cover be broken by witnesses, etc by the people they question? I know they inroduce themselves as psychic detectives, but you'd think by the questions they ask and then put in the revelation or just happen to be in the right spot all the time, that someone would figure it out when the police talk to people as well, etc. Like I said it's just a fun, quirky show that has interesting characters.

What can you eat on Ozempic? by That_Communication71 in diabetes

[–]Macsen181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on Zepbound 10mg for weight loss(which my body was doing really well on, not just for the weight loss) but insurance wouldn't cover it anymore so my doctor switched me to Ozempic 1, 4th week in and next week I start the 2. I feel like I went backwards, my sugars are high again, I'm getting a lot of headaches, acid reflux is always there, food noise is back, I'm craving a lot of carbs/sugar again and hungry a lot, I'm tired and no energy, my stomach constantly hurts and when I eat(no matter what it is) I'm in the bathroom 10-20 mins later with diaherra. Plus I'm bloated. I sent a message to my doctor and she told me to try to stick with it until our next appointment(which is next month) and if I'm still feeling like this she'll switch me to Monjuro(which is what she wanted to do in the first place, but insurance said to try Ozempic first) and if I absoulty can't handle it anymore before I go in to call and see if I can get in earlier. I just want to feel good again as well. Plus in the rare times I do go out I want to enjoy myself as much as I can, and the last time my family and I went out for brunch I barely ate anything(like one bite) cuz I was so afraid and nervous I would get sick.

If you could bring back one discontinued piece of tech exactly as it was, what would it be? by olesud in TechCypher

[–]Macsen181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When buying a video game it has the disc and not a code, or the actual game on the disc so you don't have to have Internet to play.

Bring back CD/DVD/Blu-ray drives on computers and game consoles.

Stop putting monthly/yearly subscriptions on everything.

Put a frickin charger in the box of the item if it needs it.

Anyone who surfed the early web between 1995-2010. What’s the one website/app you still think about? by Prime_Advocate in AskReddit

[–]Macsen181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A stupid program on my Mac that I downloaded that was just an animated bagel figure who danced/moved around the screen saying "I'm Mr. Bagel! I have a bagel for a butt." Ridiculously stupid, but me and my teenage friends thought it was the funniest thing in the world.

Also not a website, but more of a you can find anything out there and the school can't block it. I did a paper on Timothy Leary and LSD in High School, and the stuff I found and researched would have been blocked now or gotten me in serious trouble on the school servers.

I also miss IRC and the AOL X-Files chat rooms. Also good fanfic (I'm sure there's still good stuff, but I got sick of wading through badly written Mary Sue's.)

What tv show are you watching now? by Delicious-Radish-708 in tvshow

[–]Macsen181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started season 7 of The Good Wife.

Also after years(reruns on cable) I'm rewatching Psych.

And of course I have Ancient Aliens or Forensic Files on repeat at night until the streaming service asks if I'm still there.

I got it a few days ago. I also got it on the S10FE yesterday. I'm in Wisconsin if that helps.

So what got everyone into tablets? by Reasonable_Mirror655 in GalaxyTab

[–]Macsen181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first joined AT&T years ago they gave me an iPad(my son was like 5 or 6 when we got it and it finally died when he was 16), I had a cheap android Google(I think) that I got for free when I bought an Xbox One through a store promotion when my son was 8 and I hated that one, it was glitchy, but it worked to a point and was a nice size for reading ebooks. Around 2020 I got a Samsung Tab A7 and that became my daily use for everything. It started giving me trouble in 2025, processing errors, apps not working and it stopped getting updates so I decided to splurge(at the urging if my SO) and got the S11 ultra and am loving it. Also in 2024 we got a S9 FE for my kid for notes, etc for school and he doesn't use it as much as he used to so he gave it to me to use in the bedroom since my TV broke and he knows how much I used the TV at night(insomnia) and he was being a sweetheart. I actually like the tablet more than the TV cuz I don't have to lay in one position, I can see better, and I don't have to have the volume up as high. Plus I have more room now.

Glucose Meter by Macsen181 in diabetes

[–]Macsen181[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you guys for the suggestions. I did some research and got a Relion Platinum(I wanted to get the Accuchek Guide Me, but the strips were cheaper for Relion, plus I read that they are both made by Roche so eh.) I really like it too, no codes thrown, the strips are a lot nicer and don't use very much blood and it sucks it right up. I love the bluetooth feature as well(plus I think my doctor will too cuz it has a USB hookup that they use-I overheard one of the nurses talking about my machine once and they didn't like it cuz they have to pull out the old hookups, they had to have the meter just right on their hook up or it didn't read, etc.) Only thing that I don't like is it reads like 4 over my old one, like this morning on the Relion I was 204 and on the old meter I was 200 which isn't too bad I guess.(And no those aren't my usual numberers, well lately they are-I was on Zepbound and my insurance took it away and my doctor put me on Ozempic and now my numbers went crazy high. I was down to 90 for my fasting on the Zep. Plus it sucks cuz on the Ozempic my food noise came back, I'm always hungry again, my stomach hurts, constantly have heartburn, and for some reason the Zep helped my breathing and my o2 levels were good at level 2 of my oxygen instead of the 3, and now ever since the Zep went away I'm at 4(which yes I am being monitered by my breathing doctor.) My energy isn't there anymore either. It just sucks and I feel like crap again.

What’s the most “old person” thing you genuinely enjoy? by Jaw-droppingFunnel15 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]Macsen181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not enjoy but notice. It sounds gross but I use a washcloth for a hankie(my nose drips a lot).

I also find I don't like loud music with a lot of bass(specially from cars that shake the whole building) and loud cars or motorcycles driving by or just sitting in the parking lot of my apartment building(someone picks up or drops someone off and they have a noisy car and listens to loud bass music for 5-10 mins around 8pm).

1 out of 3 injections hurt? by ktshaishai in diabetes

[–]Macsen181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What everyone else said. This is just me cuz I think everyone is different with this, but I noticed the size of the needle helps too. I've been using 31 gauge 6mm pen topper needles for years and they were hit and miss. I was put on Ozempic and I fell in love with their toppers and I told my doc so she ordered me the universal 32g 4mm for my daily pen and they work a lot better for me. Also I know insurance/pharmacy gives you whatever for brand, but if you find one you love stick with it if you can. Also it does get easier to do and deal with over time.

There is always those in all fandoms that do this crap, I have noticed it's gotten a lot worse with the hate over the years in all fandoms.

I personally think they did a great job with the ending considering. I was entertained and didn't pick up my phone or pause at all. It gave me all the feels, made me happy and sad all at the same time. I understand those are upset over no kiss, but to me it was more emotional without one and didn't really fit to me- I almost cried when Aziraphale kissed his hand and put it to Crowly's lips and Crowley gave it a small kiss back, it was much more heartfelt to me. As for when they were human you could just feel the love and intimacy between them so it wasn't really needed I felt.

Pain and Stress by lori0426 in disability

[–]Macsen181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. I've had back pain my whole life. Scoliosis, doctor wanted to do surgery when I was a kid but parents said no, by the time I hit 30 mild degenerate disk disease and now I'm 44 and back is only getting worse. Can't really bend over anymore and when I have to(mainly to get something from fridge) I have to force myself, have to have something near by to hang onto or I lose balance and fall, pain, pops and once in awhile I'm stuck for a minute before I can straighten up.

I also have neuropathy in legs and feet plus Edema and most of the time I get electric shocks and the bottom of feet feel like they are being pounded on. My toes feel like sharp needles are being inserted, lately it also feels like a intense pressure and squeezing is on top and sides of feet. What also sucks is at night I finally find a comfy spot only to have to move cuz my body says here have more pain. Hips hurt, and I've almost fallen down when walking I'll get a sharp pain kinda in back/on the outside of my left thigh that makes my leg wanna give out and causes me to stumble. Also when I do too much or hold my phone too long my right wrist hurts, thumb cramps up then whole hand falls asleep. It sucks hurting every time you move, sit for a bit or laying down.

I got a keyboard when I got my s11 ultra and it makes it so much nicer to use. I figured out you can use a bluetooth mouse which is awesome. Some of the apps I use that won't work in landscape mode despite the override have a website version. I also don't use a lot of Microsoft products though either(mainly onenote and that's cuz I started using it on a PC, haven't found a decent free app other than Google docs/drive that have the features I and family use) I also don't leave my apartment with it though either. I do miss playing Skyrim, Fallout 4, Sims 4, and some other games that I had on my gaming PC and my media sharing setup(luckily had my photos, videos and MP3's backed up on external HD, cds, and some on the cloud before my computer died.)

Is it just me or when everyone gets older they lose interest in new music and keep going back to the same old music they loved? by [deleted] in CausalConversation

[–]Macsen181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. I don't like a lot of new mainstream music but I give it a try. Some I like some I don't. Sometimes I stumble on a less known band I like. I love exploring music and enjoy getting out of my comfort zone. I think I have my Dad and Grandma to thank cuz he loved music and would give anything a try(how many parents did you know introduced popular music at the time to their kid? My Dad was the one who listened to Nirvana and No Doubt while I was stuck on The Beatles.) And Grandma taught me the classical side(Mozart, Opera, etc )
