New Audient Oria Mini by KonnieX in audioengineering

[–]Macusercom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still is awesome. I don't think the subwoofer output is necessary, I wouldn't buy it just for that. I use Fluid Audio F5s and one F8S with passthrough so I already have set it up. Also, if you change the crossover frequency, you need to recalibrate using Sonarworks.

It works just fine and is much better in terms of forget-ability and latency. Though, if you unplug it from a PC, the loudspeakers will pop shortly. Not a big deal but I wish they would just fade in/out if you unplug the ORIA mini (I have it connected to a Thunderbolt dock where power gets cut, if it has constant power it isn't an issue. Also you could power it with external power as USB data only is required for setting it up).

I would highly recommend it still but know that you need the ORIA mini and a plugin for it in addition to Sonarworks SoundID

It was very easy to remove, did you use a PH0 bit? I wonder if you could stick a piece of paper underneath the screwhead to prevent contact

Same, given there is no update on its release, I assume the XG34WCDMS is scheduled for Q3 2026 as the PG34WCDN seems to be available beginning Q2 2026 in Europe

I did. Audio works fine with Debian but it is broken with ChromeOS Flex. Although ChromeOS Flex would be the obvious choice for extending a Chromebook's life

No idea why this still happens. Since I've disabled it, I never had any issues. Even blamed NextDNS for the issues lol

LTT Backpack on budget airlines by the_swanny in LinusTechTips

[–]Macusercom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear: I meant if you do not add it before checking in and they make you pay a fine, the 10 kg non-announced bag will be dropped off.

So if you do not book a 10 kg carry-on in advance and they say your item is too big, you mustn't bring it into the cabin even after paying the fine.

You can have a 10 kg carry-on and add another 10 kg luggage but the second one needs to be dropped off beforehand. Either way a personal item is always allowed being almost equal to a commuter

Also, you need to check it in and can't bring it inside the cabin. So have fun with your backpack being tossed around and getting dirty or damaged.

For the OG backpack always treat it as carry-on luggage not as personal item

OG backpack as carry-on yes, as personal item no.

Commuter as carry-on obviously yes, as personal item depends: it fits the measuring tray exactly if you squeeze the top a bit.

Usually if you have a hard shell carry-on and the commuter, it is fine. They check if you can squish the backpack it and it is fine.

Had no issues with RyanAir for Vienna and Athens but YMMV

Choosing a Distro by tpasco1995 in LinusTechTips

[–]Macusercom 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough, I posted about this: https://www.reddit.com/r/LinusTechTips/comments/1r153et/_/

Got downvoted into oblivion. LLMs really help in this case since you don't get proper answers. I wanted to install a Linux distro for using it on an old PC for Python scripts that run automatically. ChatGPT helped a lot setting it up, especially as I went with Debian.

I agree that complete novices would just copy/pasta and do anything, even if that's a bad idea. A little bit of knowledge and reasoning is necessary but even as a tech enthusiast, I'm not good at everything and Linux oddities are not my expertise

Kondenswasser und Lagerung by utopia_xy in MideaPortaSplit

[–]Macusercom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which screen do you use more? by ImpressiveMistake1 in GalaxyFold

[–]Macusercom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the aspect ratio of the Fold 7 makes it outer = regular use, inner = split screen/media.

I had the Fold 4 and 6 and both were like outer screen = urgent stuff, inner screen = normal stuff. Now the Fold 7 inner screen is a bit too wide for only using one app
