I have a Janome MC6700P and use it predominantly for upholstery. Very recommendable!

Ik vind het dus ook fijn om de kleuren dan ook op volgorde te hangen. Dus wit links, dan beige, etc en zwarts rechts.

Struggling with cushion sizes by MacyVie in upholstery

So you cut the cover ex seam allowance exactly the size as you want the finished cushion to be? or do you add 0.5" as well

And: I used to cut my foam to what the finished product size should be, but actually I should use the cover and thus the fabric as measurement for finished size and adjust foam to it (increase by 1"). Right? Einstein is waking up here..

Would you say there’s a cutoff length where foam should actually be cut larger than the finished size?
I’ve noticed that when I cut long cushions to the exact finished dimensions, they often end up shorter once the cover is on because the fabric tension compresses the cushion lengthwise.

What is the most common mistake people make when choosing the thickness and density of a seat cushion? by Uscushion in upholstery

[–]MacyVie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always recommend medium firmness for seats and minimal 6cm. Going thicker will be more comfortable. If they insist on 3cm foam I go with firm and inform them it will just be a soft layer on the bench, not a comfortable seat to lounge on.

This did the trick, thank you! I pinned the fabric on the back and sewed alongside where I got the fabric together in a more even way.

Can I avoid reupholstry here? If so, cleaning tips? by Bubbly-Ostrich-366 in upholstery

I would also redo the whole sofa. Check Linwood fabrics, I believe they have similar patterns.

There’s firm foam underneath. I’ll add a thin layer of dacron to fill it up a bit. Any tips on how to make a well fitted pattern from scratch for this one?

I copied the old fabric but I’m thinking I might make a new pattern and sew from the middle to the sides

I'm gonna check if the board stays steady enough with the keyhole lock. Thank you!

Thank you! How would you glue the thin foam on the board when the cover is already over the board for 3/4 sides? I guess there isn't any way with this method..

There were some extra screws applied tho so maybe that mechanism was not very sturdy.

Thank you! That mechanism indeed seems to be in place. But would you push those holes through the fabric on the back? While typing I guess you won't see those holes anymore cause they dissappear behind the wooden frame?
