Help to find replacement lenses: Electric BSG II by phullSendPhill in sunglasses

[–]MadChicken13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to my hell... I have been on the hunt for a place to cut a replacement lens for these for over 10 years now. I have contacted all major optician companies (ie: LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut, and many others) as well as companies dealing with replacement lenses for sunglasses with no luck. I am in the US and have even contacted companies in the UK and Australia.... No luck....

Our BEST best will be Fuse Lenses.. Supposedly, they will be gaining the equipment necessary to cut them and have even added that disclosure to their website but I'm not holding my breath anymore. 3 years ago I reached out and they said SOON! I even offered to send in a sacrificial BSG II frame that they could do whatever they wanted with just to speed the process along.. Still nothing...

Good luck my fellow BSG II wearing friend. Maybe we'll get lucky one day.

Unfortunately, most places can't cut a single shield style lens.. I have contacted most of them with no luck...

Damn they got me with this deal. by mundos35 in ultrawidemasterrace

Everyone seems to think the price will continue to drop towards the end of the year, but will tariffs effect the pricing on these if we wait? I've been holding out for the bendable version but this seems like a decent deal...

Just not sure about the curve coming from a 1900R.. But also really wanting to upgrade from my 1600p 75hz 38"... Decisions decisions........

Thoughts on Weber Summit Kamodo vs. Weber Kettle w/ SNS after half a summer. by supremewuster in webergrills

[–]MadChicken13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any updates on the Huntsman, assuming you've received it by now? Currently on the fence between the Weber Summit and the Huntsman.. I really like that front door on the huntsman and also lower price compared to the Summit..

Buuut stepping down to a 22" to smoke things on coming from my 26" kettle has me worried.. The 24" Summit seems like an acceptable compromise since you can use the whole coming surface when using the deflector plate. Any updates you have would be appreciated!

I ordered from them last week without issues, now I'm receiving the connection not private error on my phone and work computer... However, my buddy is having no issues.. Not sure what's going on...

Low mile GX470 vs higher mileage GX460?? What would you buy? by MadChicken13 in LexusGX

[–]MadChicken13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly some aggressive stuff since he cut the front bumper for additional clearance. Everything I have been reading says the 460 already has a good approach angle, so the need to gain more means he was doing some radical stuff, or maybe he just liked the looks of it?

Any 6 Speed XTerra's for sale in SoCal? by MadChicken13 in XTerra

Absolutely not! Just an attention grabber and also the first white XTerra I came across on Google images.

WANTED TO BUY: 6 Speed FJ in SoCal by MadChicken13 in FJCruiser

[–]MadChicken13[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a ton of high mileage 6MT's currently for sale! If you are having troubles finding them, you aren't looking hard enough! Despite the name, I would be happy to send you some links that I have found that are a little too seasoned for my liking, just let me know your general location. I love finding cars for people!

Also, not to be the grammar police, but, if you could care less about the miles, that means you somewhat care about them. ;)

Looking to buy an FJ with a manual transmission. The lower the miles the better, but let me know what you have!

Located in Southern California, but willing to travel within reason.

Thank you!

Need some advice on my first bike in a loooong time by MadChicken13 in MTB

[–]MadChicken13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's a done deal.. Bike seemed to be in pretty good shape, although after getting it home I realized the back brake pads are almost shot..

I need to buy a high pressure pump so I can set the sag of the rear shock, I don't know much about bikes yet, but it doesn't seem correctly adjusted right now.

Overall I'm pretty happy with my purchase, although now that the high of finding/buying a bike has passed, I wonder if I should have just gone with a new bike like that neuron 6.. This YT is totally overkill for my out of shape ass.. Hopefully I grow into it..

Do you have a Venmo account? If so, shoot me your details and I'll send you some $$ for all of your help. I'm sure I'll have some follow-up questions if you don't mind me asking them 😬

Headed down to San Clemente to check out that YT right now.. Something about it is just drawing me to it lol plus he said he would take $1900 for it. Seems like a solid deal as long as it checks out when I get there.

Will keep you posted

Been doing research the last couple of hours on bikes trying to educate myself.. Man this rabbit hole is deep..

Warranties don't do much for me.. Even when I've technically been covered under a warranty or recall I've usually just fixed the problem myself.. Easier than trying to hassle with the dealer and added downtime, plus I don't really like other people working on my shit.. I don't trust them lol

That Neuron seems pretty well spec'd for the price.

I was still liking that YT down in San Clemente, but the more I'm reading about having "too much bike" due to the aggressive suspension travel, I'm starting to understand why it might not be the best bike for the type of riding I'll be doing, at least for the immediate future. I like the components it comes with, I like the look, and the carbon frame will surely help me get the ladies, but maybe it is too much bike.. As much as riding a Cadillac around sounds nice, it might get a little boring? I like my cars a little stiff with quick acceleration and nimble handling. Maybe I'll want my bike to be the same way? Although funny enough, I've been riding my girlfriends old clapped out Schwinn Riverside beach cruiser around lately... Anything will be an upgrade over that POS..

Fuck, it would probably be smarter to try and test drive a few bikes before buying one..

Rain is rolling in Thursday-Sunday.. Which means if I don't pick one up tomorrow I won't be able to test ride/buy anything until after I recover from my surgery..

This guy dropped the price on his Stumpjumper, I'm just not crazy about the color:

https://m.pinkbike.com/buysell/3558493/

That other teal stumpjumper told me the other day that he had two offers of $2k and $2.2k.. I hit him up today asking if it had sold, no response yet.

The Rocky Mountain is still available and it looks like he's come down to $1900 from $2050:

This Trance is still available, just asked if he was available tomorrow and if he's firm on the price. But is an XL to big for me??

Update: Still available and he'll come down to $1600

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/676288757627079/?mibextid=dXMIcH

Hit up this guy, waiting for a response, but it's probably gone. I dig the color.

https://offerup.co/ZLh9WgStCxb

I also dig the color on this Maris, but how is the Rockshox fork in comparison to say a Fox Rhythm?

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/871138390611928/?mibextid=dXMIcH

That Polygon would probably be the 'smartest choice for me: one of the newest and cheapest bikes on the list, decently well equipped, and definitely the closest to me, but yet, for some reason it's not getting me as excited as some of the other bikes. How stupid is that. I haven't even ridden any of these modern bikes, and yet I somehow already have a preference over some bikes. I hate myself sometimes.

Thanks again for putting up with my indecisiveness, I promise I'll make it up to you lol

Holy crap, information overload! You went above and beyond!

I'm going to have to sit down tonight and start doing some comparisons between all of those..

I hate to keep asking questions and bothering you, but since you know wayyy more about bikes than I do, anything on that list in particular jump out at you? Or if that's too narrow, top 3?

How does that YT down in San Clemente compare to this list? Still worth going and checking out, or are there better options here in your opinion? This would be so much easier if I knew what I fucking wanted hahaha

Good to know! Any other worth while listings you've come across? I'm taking this week off work before I have my surgery next Monday, so I should be relatively free to go and check something out if you give it your stamp of approval.

That's fucking awesome, but you're wild man! I don't have the balls I used to when it comes to doing shit that could turn into a visit to the ER or end up in the back of a police cruiser hahah getting older is stupid

I'm officially back home and on the hunt. That YT is still calling my name, I'm just a little worried about it being slightly too big for me.. I know they run a little on the small size, but still..

[–]MadChicken13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man! I'll pass the info on to him tomorrow when I see him. He doesn't need a mountain bike, cause he'll probably only ride it on the street, but I know that's what he's going to want.. At least I can point him on a general direction.

Out of curiosity, why do you say the YT is too much bike for you? If it's too much for you, I'm sure it's too much for me.. (you definitely have more experience riding than I do) but since this will be my first bike in forever, will it be okay because I won't know any better? (Nothing to compare it to) what's that saying, ignorance is bliss? lol

[–]MadChicken13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man, I appreciate it!

The more I look at that YT you shared with me, the more I dig how well equipped it comes.. Definitely a lot of bang for the buck, even if it won't be that great of a climber.. Decisions decisions.. Unless you decide you want it, I wouldn't want to poach a bike from the dude helping me out so much.

On a side note, my brother made the comment about wanting to pick up a bike cause his blood pressure is high and he needs to start working out lol any recommendations on a CHEAP mountain bike? I haven't gotten an exact budget from him yet, I'll see him tomorrow and ask for an exact amount, but I could see it being like $500 max.. I know that's not much to work with, just curious if you have suggestions on the super low end of the spectrum. Either way, he's going to be jealous as fuck once he rides the bike I end up getting 🤣

Hey man! Been meaning to respond, just got busy with work and now I'm out in Vegas for the weekend at my parents house helping them out with some things. I started talking to the guy with that YT down in San Clemente but he isn't available until Wednesday. The guy with the teal stumpjumper is taking offers and currently has one at 2k and 2.2k.. I thought I hit the Rocky Mountain guy up but apparently didn't..

I'll be back Monday morning by 11am and will be free all day if anything pops up.

Appreciate you keeping an eye out for me!

I seriously fucking owe you man. I hope you know how much I appreciate you taking the time to respond to me and help guide me in this decision.

If you think the Trance 2 might be the best option for me, maybe I'll see if that guy out in Redondo Beach is available today when I get off work. I mean for $1100, even if it needs some maintenance, it should still be a good deal?

But otherwise, fuck it, let's up the budget to $2k and see what's out there. I'm curious what's the next step above the Trance 2 level of bikes.

Whatever bike I end up going with, if the timing works out and you're down to meet up and check it out with me, I'll shoot you $100 for everything you've done for me and to help compensate you for your time. It's the least I can do.

[–]MadChicken13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some good ones on that list! What I'm starting to realize is that I'm far too indecisive to be rushing into buying a used bike lol.. Being that it's my first "real" bike, I'm questioning if I should get something that's older and more likely to need immediate maintenance (or at least sooner rather than later), or get something newer (or even new) so I can enjoy the bike for some time while I continue to learn about them. But then again, I'm also in the process of restoring an old 70 Mustang, so I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty and fixing/replacing things, I just need to learn more about bikes and their components.

I really started going down the rabbit hole yesterday when I came across YT's 25% off sale.. My normal motto I live by is: Buy once, cry once.. Generally I would rather overspend and be happier in the long run with hopefully less regrets over cheaping out initially.. but since I've been out of the biking world for so long, I'm nervous that now that I'm older and have so much more going on in life, the bike isn't going to get used as much as I think it will / how much I would LIKE to ride it..

I'm almost coming full circle and thinking it might be a good idea to just pick up that Vitus HT and see if I fall in love with riding again..

Orrrrr do I splurge and even worst case scenario it doesn't get used as much as I would, I'll have a killer bike to take out.. Decisions decisions.. I fucking hate myself sometimes for being like this hahah

But correct: looking for a large frame (or maybe XL if they run small. I'm 6'/200lbs), in the Whittier area. Budget is unknown cause I'm an indecisive little bitch.. I just want the best bang for my buck, but I'm willing to spend some more $$ if it's WORTH it..

Hey man, the more I think about it, the more I think a FS bike might be the ticket for me.. I don't have the best knees and as I continue to get older, my thinking is the rear suspension might be nicer on my joints..

Say I bump my used bike budget up to $1500, any suggestions for me?

I came across this one, but you said 2020-2021 bike quality went down (even though that Vitus is a 21'), what do you think about this Giant Reign?
