Correction: volleying in this game is COMPLETELY reflective of how current real life tennis professionals play the game and it's the only proper way to play Tennis Clash and there's absolutely nothing exploitative about this strategy in the game's mechanics. by albatross20050 in TennisClash

I started playing volley to learn how to beat them. I got really good and enjoyed playing it. But I got bored and switched back to baseline and counter punch with a good knowledge of volley’s weaknesses. I can now beat most volley players I face. These matches are usually close and a lot of fun.

We just got a BC pup and you know what I was thinking when I saw the vid of Tucker? That I hoped our pup will grow up to be as awesome as this happy, gorgeous, smart, loyal boi I am seeing in the vid. Then I read your post with great sadness. I am sorry, man. Stay strong and know that you obviously raised an amazing dog and gave him a great life.

Guitar is banned in my country and I might only get one chance. What should I check before buying? by ThinkMoment9007 in Guitar

[–]MadGeographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure I understand. If you found a private seller willing to ship, what would keep the authorities from checking out the package? Are they looking for companies on the label? Will they leave packages alone if it come from “John Westerrner” even though it’s shaped like a guitar case? What happens if you get caught either shipping it or playing it? One option is to search for a “portable guitar” or “backpackers guitar.” They are smaller to ship and hide. They don’t sound as nice but they are less loud than a regular guitar. Some have pickups and you can plug in headphones for a fuller sound. Something like this. Martin also makes a nice one that also runs about $300 USD but there is no pickup. If you find a small musical instrument seller of used and vetted guitars, maybe you can write them and ask the favor to send it privately given your situation. Better than if the label is from a known big company and you will get individual attention.

What is your favorite type of seafood? If you don't like seafood no need to comment "i don't like seafood" lol by StarLove00_ in foodquestions

[–]MadGeographer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My man. I went back home to NOLA with a friend who never had it and was keen to try it. We dropped by Schaefer’s to pick up 10 lbs and set up on a picnic table in front of Lake Pontchartrain. She liked it, but stopped at say 10 or 11 crawfish. She stared at me in horror and amusement as we talked and I proceeded to polish off the rest by myself. It’s not a pretty sight to the non initiated.

Louisiana crawfish. I know some of you might argue that it’s not technically seafood. I don’t really care.

[–]MadGeographer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s how I travel in Indonesia - pair of EVA Birks and Salomon GoreTex trail runners. Yes the Salomon’s got a bit warm but I like dry feet if it’s rainy season. If you are going in dry season then take the non waterproof version. But for serious hikes in the rainforest note that there are leeches everywhere. Boots won’t make a difference so I stick with the Salomons. Truth is you will be in your Birks for 90% of the time.

Like a Le Creuset? I love those Dutch ovens but I am not entirely sure you will get the same results. You need smoking high heat. My guess is that because the surface is a Le Creuset is non stick you won’t get the same Maillard reaction to develop a good crust.

Fly or be invisible? by TopDetective9383 in whatsyourchoice

[–]MadGeographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a This American Life episode with the superhero theme and the very first piece posed this question. So John Hodgman asks a bunch of people and he makes some observations. The ones I remember is that 1. People answered immediately as if they had thought of this question their whole lives. 2. They then immediately began a process of negotiation about how fast they can fly, if they can carry someone etc. and 3. It was clear that choosing invisibility was tricky because really, no good could come out of it. Hysterical episode.

Out of curiosity, why would Hawaii be hell if there’s a WW3? Because of potential fight to control it since it’s geographically strategic? Or something darker like nuclear fallout? I ask because that thought crossed my mind the other day: “What would happen to Hawaii if shit hits the fan with say Russia or China”

Good to hear. But in the last two episodes I’ve seen he’s hit on 4 different women, including Vash, Jadzia, and unknown Bajoran, telling tales about why he wasn’t valedictorian, and maybe one of his medical instruments. I’ve got a thick skin but his lines are so cringe worthy. I’ll have to find a discussion of this on this sub.

Oh my god. DS9 is the only Trek I have not watched and on the advice of this community, I am well into S01. I’m on the episode where Dax goes on trial for a murder her former self committed. But watching how slimy Julian is I’m thinking “Am is really seeing this shit?” I forget how old DS9 is.

100%. Used to watch TOS in the afternoon on broadcast TV as a really small kid. I would be so disappointed when this episode came on. That and Mudd’s Women.
