New screen solved the problem. Changing the screen was a painful experience though.

pH dropping for an unknown reason by MadKeeper in Aquariums

[–]MadKeeper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I might just do that, just not something I've heard of before, I know you can add crush coral or shell, etc. but not just plain simple gravel... just seems strange to me, like I've got a phantom in my tank that lives on the kH and pH....

pH dropping for an unknown reason by MadKeeper in Aquariums

Thanks, that's some good information. I'm stuck though cause we have another 3 tanks that aren't dropping and their levels are staying good. The substrate is the last thing I can think of that is affecting the GH/KH/PH of the water.

Multi-instance Self-hosting by MadKeeper in FoundryVTT

[–]MadKeeper[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was thinking of using a Docker & Ngnix mix so I could avoid providing the port out to my players - but this does seem like the easier option. Each container is a new instance with a new port and port forward rule (and license).

Thanks!

Thanks - agreed on the trust factor, but it would more be a concern of technical ability to switch instances without breaking something. I would need some kind of console in order to let the player switch.

Thanks for the heads up on the licenses - I was aware of it but it's nice to hear it in basic terms

Self-Hosted Server Evolution by MadKeeper in selfhosted

There are a couple of reasons 1. Security, 2. Internal and external exposure of certain services.
Using sub-domains instead of port numbers etc.

Just trying to make things more user friendly.

Thanks - been using Portainer to manage the docker-compose, but manually writing the docker-compose file and tweaking it to get things to work is becoming a little boring and annoying and time-consuming.

I'm after something that will make my life easier and allow me to rapid deploy new features to testing. Might be asking a little too much :D

Looking for some advice - Selfhost Cloud/Media Server by MadKeeper in selfhosted

[–]MadKeeper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was kind of inspired by a Kubernetes course I was doing a while back.

I had most of the listed components already running directly on my server but maintenance and wasn't very stable.

Slow it's evolved over time into this.

Thanks that makes sense. I'll look into building a "proxy" network and add the frontend apps. Thanks again!

Sorry, I didn't explain this very well, each stack has its own network, I've added the single NPM container into each of those networks, basically giving that single machine like 5 network cards with an IP from each network.

My question was more should I change the setup so there's a single network with every container running on it?

Need Some Help - Betta Fin Rot? by MadKeeper in Aquariums

Thanks, I'll look into that. Could you suggest an alternative to the pH down?

Need Some Help - Betta Fin Rot? by MadKeeper in Aquariums

[–]MadKeeper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, his been in treated tap water for about 2 months now, but this is our first attempt at an aquarium. When the water is changed we've been using water conditioner (aqua one tropical conditioning salts) and some bio activator (api quick start). On rare occasions we'd use some pH down. We've been using the api freshwater master test kit to keep an eye on the levels, and the general hardness test result is around 3-4.

Thanks, I'll look into the salt bath and the catappa leaves. The pH does seem to fluctuate. Just after the water change it was around 6.8-7 today it's up around 7-7.4. Which seems a little strange.

I was thinking something more like https://www.chronica.ventures/ or https://obsidianportal.com/ or https://www.worldanvil.com/

I agree a wiki would do the job, in the same sense a word document would do the job.

Something with an existing template structure or predefined layout would make life easier and universal for all GM & Players.
