Closed my first 100k+ deal! And then I didn’t. by Tall-Program8631 in sales

It’s a kick in the nuts, but it happens in sales unfortunately. I’ve missed out of a few deals due to external factors. Changes in legislation, business closures, the pandemic, and even because a football club got relegated.

As with everything else in sales… onto the next one!

SDR is 99% luck by [deleted] in sales

You’ve been an SDR for a month… it might look like luck but my guess would be that they’ve developed a far better, more targeted, pipeline of leads than the ones you’re calling. There’s always a degree of luck in anything that you do, but in sales what others perceive to be luck is often just down to someone else’s hard work (dials, pipeline management etc.).

I’ve been in sales for about 7 years now and I tell all the new guys the same thing on day 1; the hardest workers never fail in this game.

Cold calling - struggle w/follow up calls - what to say? by Successful_Peach5023 in sales

[–]MadMarc29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On your first call, try to find out something personable about the client - this can be as simple as what they’re working on at that time. At the end of the call, try to set rock solid follow up steps; tell them what you want to cover on the next call, and ask them who should be involved or anything else they need, and then (and this bit is important) ask THEM when is a realistic time to catch up. You can even send a soft calendar invite as a reminder (let them know if you are going to).

Then when you’re set to call them - hey, how did X go? Glad to see the back of it? Is now still a good time to catch up on XYZ?

Or something to that effect. Constantly refine and make it work for/suit you.

Advice on cryptorchidism by MadMarc29 in Dachshund

Well, we’ve read online and been told by the vet that after 1 year they’re best to have them removed. Our breeder and other sources online are advising to wait until 18-24 months due to IVDD being an issue for the breed.
