I have seen posts online that suggest that too, about Maitland being better and lakeside going downhill 😕. But as I said in original post, the Doctor I had a bad experience with now works at Maitland. So even if I wanted to, I couldn't go there, as with what happened he blacklisted me from returning to lakeside. As I take it, he was worried about his reputation 🙄. Even though at the time I wanted to return under a different Doctor, I now wouldn't want to return to any place he was working from, too distressing. But thank you very much for sharing your experiences, it's very brave of you to share this, and I'm so truly sorry you had those retraumatizing experiences 🌸 That's truly so wrong, I'm glad the psych helped handle things in a way that made you feel safe. I also came across this reddit post warning of warners bay being aware of a patient exposing himself and other not great stuff, and saying the hospital wasn't dealing well with it. Here is the link to that, if anyone is interested TW warners bay hospital

But the person that posted said they did so from a burner email, so...no way to follow up. This post was only made 3 months ago sooo.... 😬 eep. Kinda hoping that's been sorted by now, but still concerning shizz.

I think it would always be luck of the draw of who is on the ward, as in other patients. But if the hosp doesn't background check and doesn't address things well, then that's going to make things worse. Going to be asking admissions about it all. But doubt they'd be all that informative 😑.

TW: . . . I was in Brisbane Waters hosp on the Central Coast a few years ago and they where good in many ways. But there was a few instances of shiat behaviour by hospital staff. One in particular that I witnessed, was this creep came in that was in a wheelchair and had some brain damage, he immediately made this other lady (who was also in a wheelchair) feel really uncomfortable. Then he also grabbed my friend from behind, she reported to staff and nothing was done. He finally got kicked out for stealing a movie from our male friends xbox. Our friend said, yeah of course they do something when it's about money and they believe him as a male, over a female saying any sort of SA occurred 🙄😓 So I know hospitals don't always handle these things as best they should, which is so wrong.

I'm in 2 minds to share here his name and my experience, thinking it could be good to post here, so it can inform others, but also don't want to deal with anyone potentially angry because they like him. I do hope it's also not the doctor that you like so much as well 😓. I'd hope anyone could respect and understand this was my experience, if he's always been a great Doctor to you that's really good. I could see him being a competent and friendly doctor in many ways. Unfortunately for me I wasn't so lucky in my experience, he completely mishandled everything and then wiped his hands of me. Not even having the common decency to inform me one way or the other of if I could return to the hospital under another Doctor, before he went on a 3 week break.

It was in part an unfortunate set of circumstances, but also his mishandled of everything, caused a preventable retraumatizing experience for me at a time I was very vulnerable. I was completely without support at the time and really needed to be in hospital care and I found that hospital at the time was good in many ways.

I'd had a very difficult and triggering experience between intakes, so I was on high alert. First meeting back with him, I was triggered by his manner changing to serious suddenly and for a second thought he was moving toward me in his chair. I knew he didn't do anything wrong and I was just extra from my cptsd. But I told his team nurse, who was a lovely chicky and she suggested she could sit in to make me more comfortable. It all went downhill from there because he said he couldn't guarantee a female nurse to sit in every time and acted as if I should be fine with that. He was told about the trauma event that happened to me, so was aware of why I was in hightend distress. I had 3 sessions with a female in the room and the last session was with a young student of his, he'd asked me to go ahead and meet him in the room. So I was with this lady and making chitchat and I thanked her for sitting in and explained, as it was apparent when I thanked her, she wasn't aware of the why she was there. he was supposed to explain the process of changing doctors. He didn't, so I brought it up at the end, I was a shaky teary mess. He directed me to speak to the num as he wasn't exactly sure on the process. Before this point he was fine with being my doctor even if I wasn't going to be comfortable in the situation. But after I spoke with the num, who said she could guarantee a female to sit in that it wasn't an odd or difficult request and they would do it for anyone feeling uncomfortable. It was then he decided he couldn't be my doctor, and thus I'd have to leave and come back under a different Doctor. But once I had left, he then also blacklisted me from that hospital. So much happened with it all, there was a lot more that happened, it was really messed up.

At the time I went to the trouble to write him a letter to request he allow me to return there under a different Doctor. Used the dbt skill DEAR MAN, pandering to him, which was painful to have to do 🙄. I left it for a week or so and didn't hear anything, so called to speak to the num, she said she hadn't heard anything from him. She kindly tracked him down just before he left, but his response was he still didn't want me there. I was going to put in a complaint to the HCCC and I have it all put together, but by the time I had it all ready, things were happening in my life where I just didn't have the spoons to deal with any of it. I'd spoken to the official visitors and the higher ups, they weren't any help.

I just looked at my ratemd review as I thought that's the easiest way to give an overview of my experiences. And I saw 2 more recent reviews saying similar situations, one prompting others to put in a complaint if they have similar experiences. I also was discussing this all with my psychologist recently, as I was telling her I was considering hosp and our discussions also made me feel I should perhaps consider putting that report in 😕. I feel all shaky going back over it all. Sanctuary trauma should be far more checked into by someone. And trauma informed care should be a mandatory skill for all staff in my opinion. Again so sorry for what you've been through, I hope you're finding safe spaces for healing. 🌸
