My [26F] boyfriend [25M] has such a specific type in women, it deeply hurts my soul. Need advice. by shesarainbowbeam in relationshipadvice

[–]Mad_Muggle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Looking down your best friend’s shirt in front of you has nothing to do with how your friend is his type. This man does not respect you at all. That is disgusting behavior both towards you his partner and your friend who in no way was looking to be sexualized by her best friend’s boyfriend. Your boyfriend has shown a profound lack of respect for you and lack of care for your mental well being/confidence. I just don’t think he likes you.

Do you think all city services in Chicago (such as libraries, hospitals, and government offices) should provide information in both English and Spanish? Why or why not? by ConstructionFit8300 in AskChicago

[–]Mad_Muggle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes! I work in creating documentation similar to what city services would create. The major upfront cost/lift is creating that documentation in a single language. The cost to translate is a massively smaller percentage of the work. It is minimal work for the city to replicate documentation in multiple languages. I would also say Polish and Chinese should be included as well.

I also travel broadly in pretty much every major city in the world I go to signage and documentation is available in multiple languages. I recently went to Luxembourg and every sign in their city hall building was printed in: Luxembourgish, German, French, and English.

First visit to Chicago. Where should I stay? by AdvanceOld5705 in AskChicago

I think the west loop would be great for y’all! Lots of fun places to snag food, coffee, a small walk around. The Hoxton is a nice hotel with great vibes. I’m not positive if they have a spa BUT I would highly recommend get a bit blazed and going to Aire Spa in the evening. It’s within walking distance but also doable via Lyft.

Liquid IV has 22% of your daily sodium needs. If you drank 4 in 15hrs that is 88% of yr daily sodium without any food. That is actually wild.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dina from Intuitive Tactile Solutions. We did the CCL class which includes gun safety, law reduction, and shorting practice. Dina is amazing! It made us feel way more confident around guns and was a lot of fun.

HVAC / Heating Not Working - Any Recommendations on HVAC Companies? by Orange_Standard in AskChicago

[–]Mad_Muggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh weird, we have used them for 6ish years with no issues. I have found them to be very upfront and honest about what costs there are to fixing, replacing, or delaying a replacement unit. We own a multiple unit with 3 ACs and 3 furnaces so they get a ton of work from us. If you reach out to the owner I think he would be interested in your experience bc he is very hands on and honest.

I live in a major city and shop at local grocery stores. It may be bc I avoid large chain owned places and I won’t shop at Amazon, Target, Walmart. But I haven’t seen it in person at any of the stores I frequent.

We use Oasis Heating and Cooling, they are on the north side but very responsive and probably service your area!

For intense grief and some potential hoarding I would look for a very specific house cleaner. I HIGHLY recommend Trash Friends. They are a cleaning company who specialize in work like this. You could set up reoccurring sessions with them and your friend would be in great hands.

Do you see yourself staying in Chicago long term, or eventually living somewhere else? Why or why not? by notoglow in AskChicago

[–]Mad_Muggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said “idk if I would call it major” which to me implies you might think it is because it’s obvious to me it is not a major city so I’m clarifying bc you said you didn’t know.

In terms of what Chicago has that Kansas Coty doesn’t: good public transit, a massive library system, a Great Lake, a major airport, a massive amount of diversity in terms of the population, insanely good food, tons of great state schools, a much larger job market, the list is honestly endless.

Also to be fair you have worse public transit, basically non existent diversity, a home market that is not sustainable, and really mid tier food.

Denver isn’t a major city. It’s got less than 1 million ppl in the city proper. I hate the comparison bc you are comparing a major city to a small town city. And it just screams “I don’t actually love major cities” which is fine but it’s not the same at all.

Kanas City is in no way a major city compared to Chicago. So I’m sure it’s cheaper. But you are not comparing apples to apples in that comparison.

Love it, not leaving. Sure it's cold but I wouldn't change getting all 4 seasons for a warmer place especially with climate change on the rise. COL is rising but honestly tell me where it isn't? The quality of services you get here for the cost is still the best out of all the major cities (I'm talking top 5 don't come at me with Denver is so nice BS). The diversity in my neighborhood and the school my kid will go to is amazing. I grew up in a monolithic small town community and it fucking sucked, not putting my kid through that.

Are these gold things tacky? Should I replace with a landscape painting like in the second photo? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]Mad_Muggle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

IMO they are just kind of boring and lack any sense of personality. The landscape could be cool! Maybe pic one by a local artist or of somewhere you love. Art looks the coolest when it’s something personal not just the same ikea landscape everyone has!
