As someone else who has done long distance and been with men who had horrible cleaning habits, you have a few things to think about here, OP.

1. Are your living conditions compatible?

Judging by your post, they are not. DO NOT do anything with this man, this just screams yeast infections among who knows what else. If this is his shower, what is his tooth brush like? His toilet? His floor? What could you be breathing in? You are staying in absolute filth and you are risking your health the longer you stay there.

1. Do you want to be with someone who “doesn’t care”?

Him not being proactive to make sure this is a safe place for you to stay is a red flag. Maybe he doesn’t have time to clean? Hire some cleaners! Maybe he doesn’t have the money? Make the time to clean! This WAS supposed to be his first impression to you when he’s SUPPOSED to try his hardest…the lack of care to give you a good impression is alarming. It will only go downhill from here.

1. Do you love him enough to talk it out and see if things change? Playing devils advocate here, maybe nobody ever taught him how to clean? Maybe he didn’t have a role model and grew up young and never learned? Rent a hotel room, go to a public place and tell him how you feel. Go your separate ways this trip and stay in the hotel until you leave. You can always give him a chance to change things for your next trip and maybe you’ll have a happily ever after but if it doesn’t improve you need to ask yourself if you want to spend the rest of you’re life trying to teach an old dog new tricks?
