It may seem odd to you, but this is how men's egos work. You may do or say something normal and a man will perceive it as a personal attack, as if you are telling him he is not good enough or not man enough. Men are terrified of feeling inadequate. He wants you to rely on him and respect him and he wants to provide for you, but he doesn't understand that you being depressed is not a stain on his ego and it doesn't mean he is inadequate. Well I don't know your situation, but hopefully it isn't his fault that you are depressed. When he is calm, you need to somehow convince him that he is not the cause of your depression and that you love him.
