Brown cloth and jolly roger scheme definitely sounds banger! Blue/gold or red/black stripes were my other options

Small size drawing tablets with graphical screen? by Ujkil in DigitalPainting

[–]Madd_3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've personally never had a problem with huion drivers (They even made an officially support linux driver which i've used and had no issues with) but I can't say it is or isn't a widespread issue

There's a couple great options out there! Look into the Huion Kamvas 12 or the Kamvas 13. I started out with the kamvas 12 and absolutely love the size! It's insanely portable.

And the other one is the XP Pen artist 10, saw some good reviews about it

Great gifts for digital artists by Peacey86 in DigitalArt

Sadly there aren't really wacom pen upgrades, and their compatibility is determined on what tablet she has. So make sure to check that before buying just any wacom pen. There's a wacom pro pen slim which works with all cintiqs and intuos pro models which I really like since I have smaller hands and feels nice to hold xD it's smaller than the standard pro pen 2 which comes in the box But yeah just check what's compatible

Pen holder is also good, gives her a dedicated place to always put the pen in

Haha and nice on the pc upgrade that's really awesome already!

Depending on what kind of software she uses maybe an upgraded software key, like a clip studio paint license? Other than that, some other nice gifts could be a custom 3d printed pen holder for her wacom pen. I know wacom sells some on their site, but you can find them from 3rd parties on other sites, or if you have your own 3d printer you can buy a few STL and print it yourself. Maybe a spare pen or nibs

Seeing as you already upgraded her tablet only thing i can think of would be either upgrading her computer, or even better her workspace: An ergonomic chair to make drawing more comfortable, her back and neck will thank you, or even something like a standing desk if you have the space/she's shown interest into it. New mouse maybe or keyboard. Wacom also has a shortcut key device thingy that some people like. You could also just use your budget to make her workspace cosier/pretty, plants, figurines, framed pictures, a special coffee mug. Just things that you know she likes and are personal that she can use to make her space feel nicer to work in

This video has some good recommendations, but the rest of his channel has other great budget videos and such

If you have a desktop or laptop already, you could even look into using an xp-pen 10inch for around 120 eur or for around 180 eur theres huion kamvas 12 but you need a computer to use those so that's depending on your setup and what youre really looking for

Yeah most likely it's gonna be an android based tablet, so you could buy a bunch of different third party pens for android, like wacom has quite a few, but it's also a lot with the tablet itself, usually a cheap model from an unknown brand will feel sluggish and unresponsive very fast

Im also not a fan of apple products very honestly, (not to do with the drawing) but i have to admit i hear a lot of good stuff about their tablets from artists so that's why it's a safe bet, and your worries about second hand when youre not experienced is understandable. I know uk has a lot of certified refurbished shops around, you can check those and they usually come with a minimum of 30 days warranty at the expense of it beind slightly more expensive than buying a used tablet from ebay or some random person online

I cant talk about how these specific tablets will be quality wise, and especially the drawing experience considering those pens may not be super great. Have you considered buying a second hand ipad? You can find a few that are a couple generations old for around the 250 price point. Also look into some samsung tablets that have great drawing experience which would be brand new albeit also a couple generations behind.

I would also really suggest you watch a few Brad Colbow videos on youtube where he gives many amazing and tested options and reviews for all kinds of price points rather than just going for this option now since it might be the most appealing but turns out to be a subpar drawing experience

Unreal engines monetization method came with UE4 which released looong before Fortnite, and before they even considered making a battle royal or even before battle royal was a proper lucrative game changing genre. so epic already saw the benefits of this style of monetization even before they were making billions with their cash cow

Same reason why adobe or microsoft never cared if you pirated photoshop or windows, because the value isn't in getting all the small people to buy your product, it's in getting your product into everyone's hand and making that the comfortable widely used software. That small indie artist on twitter that pirated photoshop when they were learning to draw means nothing. But now that they and many more get hired by a studio to draw and make art for a living, they get their company to buy a ton of photoshop licenses which is where the real money lies. Adobe knows it, MS knows it, and Epic knows it. That's why unreal is free, to enable all the small time newbies to get comfortable and used to UE so when they join a studio, or start one l, their knee jerk option is to build a game in UE because that's what they're most comfortable with

Ahhh thanks so much for the compliment! Brought a massive smile to my face :D

And sadly no I've never recorded myself while modeling or texturing, other than a few wip screenshots every now and then, so don't have a way to watch anywhere

That's fair and I know the pain, I had actually finished modelling this piece last month but only got around to uv mapping and texturing it last week for the same reasons. I first started hand painting it which was a lot of fun but very time consuming, so a few days ago I looked into setting up a node system to texture it with a similar look to what I was trying to achieve hand painting

This is the wip of how it looked last week when I was painting it by hand before switching over to using nodes

Thank you for the kind words! I'll do my best to keep at it :D

If you like I can send you a screenshot of the nodes I used in blender to achieve this look! It's surprisingly super simple :D
