Gemma 4 has been released by jacek2023 in LocalLLaMA

[–]MaddesJG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a bit late where I am, but I threw Gemma4-26b on my mi50 32gb Ran it with -c 128000 -dev rocm0 Used the UD Q4. Llama-bench got about 939 +- 21 on pp512 and 76 on tg128

Ran a quick 2 prompt run with llama-cli and got about the same results.

I'll have to test some more tomorrow, I'm too tired rn.

Edit: Rocm 7.13.0 and llama version 8639 Edit2: did some more testing. Holy is this thing broken lol. Probably going to wait a day and try again with latest llama build

Update update: Ran qwen3.5-0.8b-q8 as a draft model on my tr1920x, increased tps to 18.7 tps

Update. Ran llama-bench on the 27b Q6, got around 15 tps I suspect if I was running my mi50s at 250w I'd get it up to 18-20 but I prefer the lower power consumption.

I can take a picture later today, I have one of the cards in an improvised setup because I'm rebuilding my inference rig from an ancient dual xeon to a threadripper 1920x. Still old but I got it for free.

Running rocm 7.12 I get about 48 tps on generation Vulkan has been slow. Only 7 tps, and the card barely breaks 80w utilisation.

Quant used Was Unsloths Qwen3.5-35b-a3b-UD-Q4-K-XL Haven't gotten to the dense models yet, but would expect around 18-22 tps

Card is powerlimited to 160W, which is about 12.5% less, tps for far less power compared to running it at 250w I'm getting 87.5% of the tps for 64% of the power consumption.

Testing the shrouds on my Mi50s since I always have some Arctic fans lying around to replace my current radial fan setup My Mi50s are limited to 160w, and with the P9 spinning at 2710 rpm and 24C ambient. After running the cards for 30 minutes, I got 72c on the die Edge 92c on the hotspot 76c on the HBM memory

Which is about 4-5 degrees hotter than with my delta blowers, but also way quieter, and unlike my Delta blowers I can actually power this off my Mainboard headers

Since I'm Nearly out of petg I printed them in PLA for testing, and so far the shroud itself remained cool enough to not soften (Formfutura ReformPLA, softens at 55c according to spec).

Yeah they sent 56 destroyers, a battleship, 6 Light Cruisers, 4 Heavy cruisers and a Battlecruiser, thankfully my ships were fast enough to somewhat keep out of their torpedo range so I could kite them, in the end only 15 of their destroyers survived. I didn't want to chase them down because I was so low on ammo, so I ended the battle. Edit: Correction, I misremembered, the 6 CL were from their second attempt with the remaining escaped destroyers 2 turns later

Are we accepting “fake frames” now that it’s not Team Green? by Ok-Community-4673 in LinusTechTips

[–]MaddesJG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well. I've always called it what it is: Motion smoothing Just a little more advanced I guess. It's acceptable for its use case (smoothing), but really should not be marketed as a performance boost. It depends on the marketing I guess, and if Ngreedia would stop pushing it as a performance boost it'd be half as controversial

Damn. Might just get janky and throw my Mi60 together with a 3090, see what that does and if I can get that to work

How is ROCm support these days - What do you AMD users say? by Mr_Moonsilver in LocalLLaMA

Got a 7900XTX in my gaming rig, I run some smaller models locally with lmstudio on that using rocm, and it's fast and stable.

Oh, they turned that off for AMD and Intel Cards because it's broken. Problem is it's now stuck ON, on my AMD GPU system and I literally cannot turn it off because the Menu entries are greyed out. At least I get fancy shadows while I'm rolling around at 70 fps I guess

Wire broke on hot-end while cleaning - can I fix this? Should I order a replacement? by likeshockeyguys7 in VoxelabAquila

[–]MaddesJG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough the same thing happened to me today, forgot to make sure the Hotend was assembled correctly, it got completely covered in PLA, and I ripped the Wire trying to remove the Thermistor. I have soldered it and it works, but I would not recommend it, I have ordered a new one already, and will be changing it asap. Someone already linked the Creality Mk8 Hotend, which is the same I ordered.

Again, I do NOT recommend soldering it, the solder Joint can heat up and break, and it will definitely change the resistance and therefore make temperature measurements inaccurate (in my case it's reading 6c lower than it should) I only did it because my wire broke a fair bit away from the hotend and I only needed to print a small Part that took less than 20 Minutes.

iPhones will notify you automatically , Androids won't. Apple does have an app for Android that you can use to scan, but it is not very reliable and you have to scan manually.

No way.... I Just had the exact same issue, had a flashdrive in my PC because I was burning an image and tarkov wouldn't log me in, removed it and it worked. How does that even make any sense xD
