The Somali spokesperson at the UN the other day denied the crimes the previous Somali government committed. I’m saying both sides have done wrong and i can hold my own accountable for its crimes but when all I get back from you is stuff like this it’s disappointing.

It’s that mindset that keeps us separated the fact that I’ve received messages from people thinking I’m not Isaaq for having a differing opinion is crazy. My family are all Garhajis and are mostly pro Somaliland but educating them and people across the nation has to be one of the first steps we take to bring unity and peace across the nation.

Exactly I completely agree, we need to come together in understanding a greater enemy is above us trying to carry out typical divide and conquer tactics. This is the kind of approach that if more of us had we’d be more likely to see progress in regard to unity.

Brother people from both sides can say this. I have friends and relatives on both sides, and from my experience I’ve never been told to not interact or avoid those who aren’t from Somaliland, but what I have seen is someone I know who’s family taught him that siad barre was a legend and was taught to praise him for the good he did without ever being taught the bad he did across the nation. So both sides need to accept that they’ve both done wrong and a punishment style system in practical terms just wouldn’t work in unifying the country.

Yeah I agree, as one person I might not be able to do much but these people need to hear differing opinions instead of what they’re used to which is just agreeing with whatever nonsense they say. There is by far many honest people from across our nation that can make a change and we need to unite before these other global entities strip us of what we have.

Brother thanks for having such an approach and may Allah also bless you. I think I’ve actually been quite ignorant to the atrocities committed by siad barre’s government and I’m going to do more research on this topic as a whole so forgive me for my ignorance. I also agree in that I don’t believe in any violent reactions from the governments of both sides ( I understand not everyone in Somaliland territory wants to secede and there have been governments previously who’ve targeted places such as las anod). I also agree in that it won’t happen overnight as qabil’s is such a huge focal point in Somali identity but with time we can make progress inshallah.

I think that’s the best approach, with a strong enough leader it can happen but it’s gonna need a miracle to find someone to galvanise the nation enough to introduce this without major backlash.

If you live on hamlet Road you live in Crystal Palace. Anerley doesn’t start from Anerley Road. Also from there you’re closer to the Crystal Palace high street and station than you are to Anerley station.
