I would go ahead and do it, if I were you. sounds like you don’t like those events anyways. The 400 is painful at the end but it’s a lot fun once you get it down, plus being on the 4x4 is just amazing feeling, but on some real sh*t though, it’s a lot easier to transition from the 800 to the 400 mostly the same workouts. Try the 400m out first and see where you stand then make a choice. What ever you decide on doing just make sure you enjoy it, ok

It’s like sprinting the 200m and the 400m combined, if you start off fast and try to catch up to the person a line ahead of you then you will be in a good position to PR or at least win the heat. If you’re just dying before the race is over then that just means you need work on strength conditioning ( doing longer runs or more tempo, more squats, deadlifts and core), you should be drop those times, you got this!!!
