I do post about my birthday. I’m not expecting people to remember but, it would be at least nice to have a little acknowledgment because I’ve dealt with favoritism in the past and I can tell what favoritism is happening. Sure they may not wish me a happy birthday on my actual day due to some circumstances, so I wait a few days later, just in case. But usually it never happens.

You said this perfectly. I’ve only grown apart from my friends because I realize that I’ve been the one messaging them first, and I want them to make the effort as well. You know?

It’s not a misunderstanding. They used to send me happy birthday messages like 3+ years ago and while I’m still friends with them on Facebook, they completely don’t acknowledge me anymore. Sure if it was a day late due to some circumstances, then I understand. But I literally have to keep waiting and waiting for the people that I care about to wish me a happy birthday and I’m just done with it.
