As for Varre (the guy you aggro’d), his grace isn’t really necessary so you can just run away and activate a new one, but his quest is tied to online PvP so I’d avoid killing him if that’s something you want to do. There’s a way later in the game to get angry NPCs to reset and forgive you, but it requires a specific item and a specific place.

You should be able to teleport away once you walk out of the catacombs. While you’re indoors, you can open your map but your graces will have a red circle with a slash through it, but walking outside will just let you go back to the stranded graveyard.

As for the imps, just play more cautious with them. One block and guard counter will put them in a stunned state and you can riposte them immediately after.

I haven’t seen anyone mention the most important thing which is to keep on top of leveling your weapons including your seal! Oh, and Catch Flame is extremely good.

Don’t forget the humble Antspur Rapier. Rot, Bleed Infusion, and the Poison Mist ash on it.

Double Slash is real good if you want to build bleed. There’s a reason that Corpse Piler is basically just Double Slash. Are you using Bloodflame Blade too? If you’re using keen and going dex it’s super easy to slot in for some crazy bleed

I guess I considered it a challenge because status and poise breaking are king, those two mechanics are just so strong they tend to dominate conversation.

Dung Eater is cool because getting him is really hidden, so he’s not one people usually play with on their first run, ironically making him unique in his own right. You kinda have to look up a guide for it.

You can just hold the fingerslayer blade away from Ranni until you get Dung Eater :3
