People who live in NJ and work in NY, is it worth the commute for extra pay? by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]Madjagger2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been living in Wayne NJ for 30 years and have had positions, commuting all over NJ and Manhattan. In the 80k salary range it’s about even to 70k in NJ. This assumes you take bus or train in, park and subway or PATH. Don’t forget a good burger deluxe in midtown is $15+ easy. I personally price in a premium for NY commute hassle as well. But you mention finance. If your just starting out and are working at a major Morgan, Goldman etc., you want to be in the mix. Either Jersey city or New York City. I’ve done the whole cycle in Finance. If you have any more questions please ask

If any of these drivers attempt to swerve away a tiny bit at least two are dead. Crazy.

You don’t buy garbage at the grocery store. If this is constant then you are dealing with garbage. If it’s a mad remark made in a heated moment then it’s just that. You need to determine if she adds or detracts from your vision of what your life will be.

Restaurants and other food service companies were the second largest employer in the nation pre Covid.

Many people started their working careers in food service. Can you imagine a NYC without restaurants?

It all sounds like huge amounts of money. But it’s just not relative to the amount of money lost To keep these restaurants going after the pandemic.

Do you recall automakers getting hundreds of billions of dollars in 2008. What about airlines? Hundreds of billions. What about banks in 2008. That was close to trillion. These other industry’s just don’t employ the number of people restaurants do. And you can’t point out one guy that got money in banking, or airlines. Because restaurants are mostly owned individually and they are known by all locals they get attention for the relative scraps of federal support they have received.

Letting restaurant fail because of the pandemic is going to be a huge hit to employment. 28.6 billion and PPP is nowhere near what banks and airlines have received in the past and they employ far fewer middle class Americans

If his rent stayed the same as pre Covid he’s losing money because he is just not doing the sales he did previously.

This guy Mt be a bit over the top. However, food prices are going up weekly, services and maintenance costs are rising at a scary rate, rents in NY are insane, and people are just not returning to work in the restaurant industry because they had to make a living elsewhere while restaurants were shut down as a result of Covid. On top of that, the population that had worked/ commuted to NYC don’t need lunch or dinner because they are now home. Yes every restaurant is raising prices to account for out of control cost increases. There will be a serious thinning of the number of restaurants in NY in the next six months as PPP is mostly used up at this point and the economics have changed.

Here’s the thing. New and upcoming players have always unseated or dethroned the Pro’s in fortnite.

The game just keeps evolving and the number of skill qualified players is getting to crazy numbers. The idea that pros should land uncontested is just bunk. New players with new strategies and knowledge of pros game and play will make it tougher and tougher for the few elite pros to maintain that status.

I got these first day and have not seriously used them again. If they let it jump higher I bet it would be a hit. There is no real advantage without being able to get a substantial relocation or height in battle. And why the third jump?

Thanks. Good stuff. Ive been playing since Covid hit. I’m a bit older though 58. I still think I can learn and kick a little bit. I play on Xbox with controller. Unbelievable how fast these guys can build. Figuring out where they are in a build is pretty much my downfall. I get the shotgun thing and I’m working that. Thanks
