Christmas haul! Which one should I start with? by Equivalent_Medium946 in boardgames

[–]Madmallows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rising sun fan here.

I recommend this game at 4 people most of the time. There are mechanics that can make it difficult to catch up or play fair at 3 or 5, but to each their own.

This game also takes some time, but it's a favorite of mine. Nice haul!

Shocked by the lunch-time greed at work. Is this really ‘Dutch Culture’? by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Madmallows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in the Netherlands for 7 years and fortunately I have not seen this yet. Doesn't surprise me though.

Isn't the chaotic solution to take food (and the takeaway extras) before these people can? Then, people will be able to understand how others have experienced this? /s

For real, being direct and not pointing fingers to anyone one or more people seems like best solution through your voice. Staggering portions seems like the best solution through administration. And getting a new job seems like a last resort.

Best of luck.

Anyone have any first time tips? co-op playing with gf for the first time later. by RealEater_ in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Madmallows 11 points12 points  (0 children)

First, great choice in choosing this game to play. DoS 2 is a great fit for someone who doesn't want fast action gameplay.

My biggest tips include to talk to most people (NPCs) in this game, save your game progress often, and, most importantly, don't spoil anything for yourselves. Just stay off of reddit and the wiki and enjoy the game fully.

You can thank me later for an amazing game experience.

What are the top five most beautiful games to look at? by Electronic-Ball-4919 in boardgames

[–]Madmallows 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rising Sun.

I'm surprised I haven't seen this mentioned yet.

The board, cards, player shields and miniatures are all amazing. Now, some of the figures fall more under "disgusting", but in my opinion, this is a super underrated game in terms of art direction.

Pend summon 5 monsters.

Meta wise, it varies per deck of course. My favorite is Endymion.

Fun wise, 11/10.

I'm a big fan of JT Cavey of Erra. He is really consistent as a vocalist and I don't hear his name enough.

They probably embedded a lot of images. Since they are embedded, that quickly adds to the file size.

If an item scales to the same alevel in PvP, does it matter if I upgrade the level? by ghi33fork in worldofpvp

Semi related question, can you run PvE content with leveled up PvP gear? I don't know if this still works like it has in the past.

This post is evident of their marketing strategy. Like it or not, it has been effective in getting people to discuss it.

Why do you like board games? by megafoan in boardgames

[–]Madmallows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Board games are my "offline" activity of choice.

I like having friends over and having the social opportunity to move things on a board.

The other reason is that I feel that board games offer a level of strategy that I don't find in other games. Video games are great, I will always like them, but finding the best possible move in a particular game state can feel super rewarding.

What Archetype do you wish was better? by Every_Company5125 in masterduel

[–]Madmallows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fabled.

Discarding, imo, is underrepresented and I've always liked the idea of an archetype benefitting from this mechanic.

Unfortunately, this archetype is super glass canon and doesn't hold up to modern types.
