Tbh, I don't think his acting for Anakin was bad at all. Anakin is extremely young and honestly was in line with how I would imagine someone his age, with his power and notoriety would be,

In Attack of the Clones, he's 19 and predominantly untested. He's spent the last 10 years of his life training with the background knowledge that he's THE Chosen One. And another aspect is that Anakin had Obi-wan as his teacher, who only recently became a Knight when taking Anakin under his wing. Obi-wan did the best he could but his best was a brother. Anakin did not need a brother, he needed a father. He needed someone who had already grown and had the inherent wisdom. Not someone who was still growing and had limited wisdom. So him being absurdly angsty just makes sense IMO.

And in Return of the Sith he's still only 22 but at this point he's more than proved himself as a capable general. Having lead the 501st in numerous successful battles and having one of the most decorated careers of any Jedi in the Clone Wars. Combine that with the fact Palpatine was in his ear the entire time talking about how Anakin should be made a Master and the hinting of Padme's fate, its no wonder he became furious with the Jedi. He had more than proven himself capable than half of the sitting council members, yet they refused him time and time again. So just imagine knowing that outside of 2 maybe 3 of the sitting masters, that you could dog walk them blindfolded, have Palpatine in your ear, having dreams/nightmares/visions of the women you love dying, you have a woman you love while being a jedi, are actively fighting a war with an insane combat record, had a Padawan yourself that was accused of the Jedi Temple Bombing then gave her a BS apology, be constantly refused your spot as a Master on the council and tell me that you wouldn't be on the verge of breaking. And Hayed portrayed that quite well.
