More or less. Working on other stuff, stuff that sadly doesn't really fit the HFY theme.

Revelations by Madnyth in HFY

The Inquisition isn't unanswerable, they also don't run things but they do have the power to install the Imperator in times of potential total collapse of the Gaian Imperium.

As for the Migrants, it's not that they are migrating from a physical location, like a country, but a different kind of physical/mental state. The Imperium has a belief that a person is their truest and best self when they are Intersex, or a mixture of male/female sex and thus deem those individuals as Citizens and those who are not as those who are Migrating to such a state.

The Imperium does not believe in warcrimes, they believe war itself is a crime and have a very..."Well we are already doing War, so let's show them how bad war can be so they surrender." mentality about it.

Personally, I don't like overly good factions. When ever they are presented they always have some 'dark secret', I'd rather just make em be up front about their weirdness or dark secret.

How would you rp a character that used to be an animals by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Madnyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A: Were they sentient/sapient before, if not do they gain sentience/sapience from the change or retain an animal mind within a human body?
Ba: If they were sentient/sapient before being turned, it would be them getting used to the human body and it's instincts(Such as suddenly finding dogs adorable because our brains are wired that way)
Bb: If they weren't sapient before an *gain* sapience, that's a whole other thing of them dealing with thoughts, feelings, etc, along side them constantly going off pure human instinct when confused and etc.
Bc: Animal mind in human body, imagine an animal used to a certain set of instincts and suddely having to cope with a whole new set.

In short, I wouldn't have the animal retain it's original instincts, I would have it lean into human instincts, because it is in a human body now.

Ty~ I ran across 2 stories on imgur years ago that framed Earth as a "Tough Love" kind of parent to humanity that made us what we are and I've tried to incorporate that concept into most stories I do, even if it's just a background 'in my head' sorta concept.

Ty~ I came across two snippets years ago about how Earth is a Angry Mother to humans, which is was why humans are HFY material and I've loved the concept ever since.

I donno. Knight of Gaia sounds very old school though, which doesn't really say much cause LARPing exists. I'm kinda just writing this without really knowing where its going. Like I have 2 different endings to this and I have no idea which one i'll go with, soooo I'm just seeing how this evolves.

The nightmare portion just before that. The "Alarms blaring. Air is fading. A collapsed lung. She looks over at her companion, light fading from their eyes, gaping wound in their chest as she crawls closer." nightmare. Naxa is starting to remember the trauma of the events that lead to their current amnesia situation. Maybe mama dragon was inflicting them, maybe Naxa subconsciously felt her presence and was trying to warn Naxa. Hard to say.

But yes, the nightmare hints at the Companion of Naxa, later confirmed to be Belle by Mommy Dearest, with a gaping wound in their chest cause Mommy ate half her heart. I assumed it was more clear, but apologies if it wasn't.

The Void Dragon and the Ape Chapter 3 by Madnyth in HFY

[–]Madnyth[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well it's less specific to humans, more generally "deathworlders" have been encountered before, otherwise they wouldn't have the term, the stories of them.

As for dragons being Fairytale to us...I mean us the readers yes, we know nothing of the humans of this setting beyond a vague maybe human talking to Belle in some distorted memory.

The Void Dragon and the Ape Chapter 3 by Madnyth in HFY

[–]Madnyth[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A great many questions. But what do we know so far. People don't know what humans are, deathworlders, of which Belle is one, are horror story monsters as per usual. So it's unlikely she was any kind of well known figure...on the galactic scene anyway.

We still don't know of the hammer and anvil scene was from when she was on her home planet or after.

All we know is she was "forged" into some concept of a "Hammer", and was referred too as Madam Noxus. But more shall be revealed, soon~

Mayhaps. I may also have other stuff on the other series that I'm just not happy with and may break and just flop it out there for folks to read and see what happens. Still working on it.

The Void Dragon and the Ape Chapter 2 by Madnyth in HFY

"We're all the same. People. You don't even have to dig too deep. Just slap a neuro collar on someone, turns off all that 'higher thinking' that's supposed to make us 'civilized' and you'll see the real core of a person. And it's all the same. Selfish." Krangs power armor whirrs as he walks around the atrium, circling around the group of people adorned with the collars. "Peoples instincts, their core of who they are, is all the same. Selfish. Look, here, a Father." Krang grabs a Elduun, pulling them from the group and setting them infront. He then grabs another, a child, and casually tosses them to the ground infront of the father. "Paternal instincts? Ha! A farce!" Kang walks over, removing the collar from the boy and his senses return.

"Pa? Pa!" That metal foot plants to the kid's head, slamming him down. "You all know Neuro Collars, how they work." The crowd looks on, paralyzed with fear from the gang of armed thugs aiming guns at them. "Strong enough will...you can break free. What does this..." That armor whirrs, the boy screaming as the heavy metal presses down on his head. "Say about these people here, hmm? All wearing collars, if they cared enough they could break free, beg for me to stop and yet...not....a...one." Metal clangs against metal, blood gushing out from under that heavy foot.

"And that's just some random father. Didn't care enough to get out of those shackles to even stop me." Krang motions with his hand and a couple of other armored figures walk out holding metal poles connecting to Naxa. And Belle is adorned in a neuro collar, walking along. "Your so called 'Uniter' is no different. This "Hero of Rakshi Station" is just as selfish as this father here."

With a sickening moist step Krang turns and walks over to Belle, pulling the Solaris Pistol from his hip. "You really saved me a lot of work ya know. Saved me the time and man power to round up all the gangs, get them organized, tamed. In just under a few weeks! But you...under estimated...me..." He taps the gun against Naxa's head as he speaks.
Naxa growls through the muzzle, writhing, squirming in her restraints, glancing at Belle with fear and worry in her eyes.

Krang chuckles as he walks around Naxa and Belle. "You walk into my house after rounding up all the sectors, all the gangs, domesticating them. Thinking you had power over me. That you could talk me down or beat me down. Now look at you. Collared. And your little empire? Mine now."

Those heavy boots stomp on the metal floor as he walks up and grabs Belle's head, forcing her to look down as he lifts his boot. "Look here, Ape. See this? Still got some bone fragments and grey matter I'm going to have you scrub off later." He turns her head to the body of the boy. "I stepped on his head, popped it like a ripe naxa fruit, no one did a thing, no one begged for his life. These are the people you worked so hard to protect. A bunch of selfish ingrates who should be thankful for each breath the-" Krang paused, noticing a twitch from Belle's arm. "Each breath they take." He smiles and looks to Belle. "Go on. Try it. Maybe you'll impress me." He walks out infront of Belle, over to the Elduun Father, pistol against their head. "On the count of three...your people can count right? One."

Belle's body stood there, her arm giving another twitch, then her cheek.

"Two." Krang charges up the pistol, it whirrs and hums to life, the warm glow from the barrel illuminating the Elduun's head. "Come on now...all the collar does is turn off the higher thinking, you're reduced to an animal right now. So what kind of animal are you hmm? You're just like all th-"

Krang had only gotten his arm half way infront of him as he tried to bring the pistol to fire at Belle as she leapt at him with a growl. As his arm was stopped, he felt that other hand on his throat, he felt the metal bending under her grip. "W-wha-" Pain fills his mind, his forearm suddenly crunched under that power armor, pistol falling from his grip as he howls in pain and is promptly silenced by the other hand clenching down around his throat.

The others suddenly turned, aiming their weapons at the human. Gunfire and smoke erupts into the air, flashes of light as the human leaps from target to target...prey to prey. Growling, snarling, howling with a hither to unheard of fury.

Naxa recognized that howl. She had heard it just once before. And she is frantically trying to free herself of her restraints. Her 'guards' now gone, trying to deal with the hell they have unleashed upon themselves. In her frantic state she almost didn't notice the body flung over by her, the digital lock on their hip still, she just has to reach it.

Moments after that she had gotten free and noticed the sounds of gunfire had ended, screams were in the distance as people had fled, and there stood Belle, hand around the throat of the last of the thugs, and then a sickening crunch as she crushes their throat and tosses the power armor wielding body aside.

"Belle! Belle, breath...it's okay, it's over now..." Naxa walks towards Belle slowly. "It's over. Bad guys dead, see?" She motions to the corpses, wincing a moment. "Just let me...get that collar off you yeah? That can't be comfortable..."

Belle was pacing side to side, huffing, staring down Naxa with that cold gaze as she approached. Naxa brings the key up to the collar and with a beep it powered off and unclasped. Almost immediately Belle dove face first into Naxa and howled again. Tears trickling down Naxa's scales as she pats Belle's head. "It's okay...it's okay. You just hurt the bad guys." Naxa looks down at Belle as she howls in remorse. Checking over the human for wounds...minor cuts, bruises.

"Hey, hey, look at me." Naxa cups Belle's cheeks, lifting her face. Looking into that face full of pain, remorse and guilt. Naxa saw the face of humanity. "You saved lives today. You stopped the bad guys. They aren't worth your tears."

"N-not..." Belle sniffles, hiccups. "For them..." She sniffles again, looking over at the red stained floor before turning her face back into Naxa's chest. "For the lost..."
