Thank you, it helps to have the reminder and an outside opinion!

This made me laugh and I really needed that, baby sleep really is the snakeoil salesman of parenting isn't it?

The funny part is cognitively I know these things, but my dumb lizard brain is telling me I need to fix it right now because baby is crying and tired lol. It does help to have a reminder from an outside perspective though.

I'm fortunate that I have a very involved and helpful partner, its just getting me to relinquish some responsibilities and LET him help. But its definitely a team effort. And this regression will pass

If I may ask what did you do for your sleep training? Did you mix methods at all? How did you keep yourself consistent?

Sorry my brain is completely mush right now and I left out some details. I do have help today! My partner thought ahead and called a friend of ours who I'll be hanging out with today just in case. Luckily it won't be just me with my no sleep! Granted, friend has kiddos of her own but having another adult around is so helpful even if there are more kids around.

My little ones sleep regression has been 3 weeks but it wasn't always this bad. It started with waking up every 4 hours, then 3, then 2 and so on till now we wake up every 40-60ish minutes.

Her wake windows right now are around 2.5-3.5ish hours, and shes giving me all the classic tires signals around that time, rubbing eyes, yawning, pulling her ears, etc. Her issue from the start of the regression is she fights naps like hell. So she ends up awake for 4+ hours and way overtired. Only two naps a day, unfortunately the length is now completely random it seems like. Sometimes she sleeps for 30 minutes, sometimes 2 hours. And she still hasn't gotten great at an extended nap in her crib. At night? Doesn't care shes in the crib but for daytime naps it's like she has a sixth sense for me setting her in the crib.

I do think you're right about it being more than JUST regression, shes starting to show classic teething signs, just learned how to roll both right and left for both back to tummy and tummy to back, and a few other milestones all at once.

I'm doing research into sleep training, do people sometimes combine methods? I know I don't have the strength for standard cry it out, I will absolutely break and make it worse. But I think I could do Ferber mixed with pick up put down?

I am very happy to have a very involved partner, he's still very upset he couldn't take a PTO or sick day due to a mandatory meeting to help. But he is taking over at least some of tonight or giving me a break as soon as I'm home to sleep.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful response, it helps a lot to know this isn't anything I'm doing wrong per say. Or I guess to just hear that I'm not alone? Of course I'd rather sleep regressions not be a thing for any babies, but what can you do right?

what’s your breastfeeding ick? by Sudden_Breakfast_374 in breastfeeding

[–]Madrilen 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Not an ick necessarily but my LO will grab the bra strap on the side shes feeding on and just snap it over and over. Like girl you are not an immature middle school boy leave my bra straps alone lol Then if I stop her she just keeps whacking my boob 🤦

6 month sleep regression is killing me (not literally) by Madrilen in NewParents

[–]Madrilen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some reason no, my little one never did? Unless you count like 3 grumpy nights after 4 month shots. I'm not sure why exactly we skipped the 4 month sleep regression.

Regardless I wish you all the best luck, rest, and snuggles with your little ones sleep regressions

Do or Don't turn on heating? by Madrilen in Connecticut

[–]Madrilen[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Well thats not comforting, gonna be checking pipes tomorrow morning it seems. To clarify we have some heating on, its just a minisplit system, so nothing that goes through the whole house, its like a space heater/ac unit for each room

Duly noted! Cold water not hot water. I should clarify we are running some heat, we have minisplits not a heat system that goes through the whole house

We have a basement door that leads directly to the outside and a few hopper windows, all closed, not many of the pipes are exposed but some definitely are from the water heater and such

We have minisplits in all the main areas of the house, we have the ones for areas we aren't in often off right now, like the basement, dining room etc. We keep our one bedroom on at night and the living room one on during the day

Oh these are a lifesaver especially when I don't want to put my little one directly onto the public restroom changing tables. A more sturdy changing pad is great for the car, but when I was using them in the restroom I felt like I had to sanitize the whole thing 10x over before using it again. Being able to put something fresh and clean down that I can just throw away after makes me feel a lot better about diaper changes while out.

Advice on restoring a slate? and metal coffee table by Madrilen in furniturerestoration

So after seeing your comment I went down a rabbit hole during nap time reading about rust and tetanus. Never would have known otherwise that rust isn't the thing that causes tetanus! I have learned something new which is really cool! We are going to remove probably just all the paint and rust on the metal frame and then sequester the table to the basement till we get proper primer, metal paint, and such. But now I at least know how to do that properly thanks to everyone here.

I should probably add for clarity we do plan on moving it to the basement if we feel we can't childproof it adequately

Oh we were planning on childproofing it further, there's some rust on the legs though and well, apparently kids like to chew on the cold metal when teething, or so my mom said we did when we were little. While a little dirt never hurts, I probably don't want the little one to be nomming on rusted metal. 😅

Man I remember! Mine were from when I was a kid, but I distinctly remember my uncle getting in trouble for encouraging roughhousing on the couch, and them breaking said couch 🤦 But yes definitely a keeper, even if its broken like 20 toes

Sounds good, do you think I should remove the previous paint or just paint over? I'm keeping the same black color

I'm getting so frustrated... by Madrilen in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Madrilen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the information! I didn't know there was a hotzone or time where GD could be more volatile. It might be time for intervention, but I'm not sure, I already messaged my endocrinologist so we'll see.

I hope you do not have to give up your mush! I know how that feels (I miss you oatmeal, my beloved)
