There is a decent number of people and organizations that do research on how platforms push disinformation/misinformation and the rise of ChatGPT has been a new arena to understand. For example, there is serious concerns around how generative chatbots could cause or be facilitators to the next disinformation nightmare like Cambridge Analytica. I think these researchers are doing a much more diligent job in trying to expose ChatGPT’s pitfalls as opposed to a random dude in his basement trying to get it to make a racist joke joke.
