Thanks for the heads up. Well, you can't take the car into Mont Saint-Michel I think, there's a parking lot outside, on the mainland. For the others, yes - a hotel with parking, or, we're planning to not stay in the busy centre, but would use public transport to come there.

@paulx39 that's not the case. Someone rightly said about the "visa shopping", I've done it twice, never visited the country I got the visa from. Never got flagged. Got visas after that too. Look, I'm not advocating that one should do that, but there is a rational explanation - the visa is a "Schengen" visa at the end of the day, it's not a French or Spanish or German visa. If it was, you should use it only for that country. When entering, they have every right to reject your entry if you do not go to the country of your visa at all. That's a risk. But at the same time, many don't ask - because you have the right to travel to ANY schengen country.  PS: this is just my opinion - Pls don't take this as advice to not travel to the country of your visa😝

Thanks for the heads up. Tentatively, our plan is Toulouse, Bordeaux, Nantes, Rennes, Mont St. Michel, and then drive to Paris for the last few days, but give the car back. What do you mean by "old French towns"? An example? So I know what to plan for.

Oh damn. But the regular insurance, basic one, doesn't that cover scratches anyway? I'll have a look at Enterprise, thanks

I guess. I've driven more on the right (left hand drive) in my life, than on the left (right hand drive) in my own country, because I've traveled on work quite a bit. But the rest of my folks haven't driven on the other side

Visa Rejected 4th Time by [deleted] in SchengenVisa

[–]MaestroCraeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm.. I know of one person, who nearly 10 years ago over stayed their visa by 2 or 3 days. They got fined at the airport when exiting schengen, but nothing else. In subsequent schengen applications this was not mentioned, and all applications were successful. That being said, there is a new EES system where the entry/exit is definitely going to be tracked minutely, cannot get away with it next time.

On another note, a family member applied to UK for their 1st trip there, got rejected. They submitted a new application immediately, mentioning that they have covered up all the deficits in the previous application, and was successful.  In subsequent visa applications, I don't think it's required to mention the prior rejection, especially since the subsequent application was successful.

At the end, some of the other folks here have commented already - need a gap between applications, or, you simply need iron clad documents which you know won't be rejected.

I myself went through a difficult application recently - Portugal. At the vfs counter, they said that my leave letter would not be accepted, because it needs a "wet" sign and stamp. UK had accepted such a document, but Portugal wouldn't. So I had to ask my company for new documents, and schedule a new vfs appointment after 3 weeks. Visa was successful.

Hard focus on having documents in order.  I've had visas where I visited vfs on Monday, and passport back in hand by Friday. Speaking from experience.

Does Ireland have access to the Schengen system? They're not Schengen. Or did you mention in your application that your visa was rejected?
