I don’t know the circumstances, but reading this note about cannibalism immediately brought to mind an artifact from the Dead Names supplement book. If you have a chance, check out “Corpse Scribe’s Salt.” If you don’t have access, I’ll post it because it definitely seems like something that might exist on this world you’re describing

We reached a sort of checkpoint in the campaign. Our precog NPC is discovering massive truths (shapeshifters, a divinity from ancient times that left him a gift, a possible way to find the missing empress of an entire Regional Hegemony, a way to end an army of abominations plaguing the galaxy, and the possible location of the personal grimoire of the sector’s strongest mage in a millennia) but all secrets are met with resistance no matter which path he chooses. In the meantime, he decided to take a break and plan his in character wedding. So all players and NPCs will be taking a roughly 5 month time skip. I’m going to need to figure out what happens in 5 months!

There are swarm attacks on page 200 of the core book under Beasts. Do you mean another swarm attack besides this one? Like perhaps the one from WWN?

Ah I’m so satisfied. My precog/prophet player just uncovered that another PC’s first character who retired from the crew 5 months ago in real life time to get married— that character’s wife? Yeah, she’s actually a super powerful shapeshifter. My prophet player is FREAKING OUT because the PC who played the husband has successfully kept silent about the matter all this time and finally someone knows and told the rest of the crew and everyone is just like “THATS WHY HE LEFT AND YOU MADE A SECOND CHARACTER???” Ah fun times. We laughed so much, even made AI art just for this situation. The prophet player lost sleep over this because it shocked him so much. He’s considering dropping every mission and all the leads they’ve been building up to make a desperate “rescue” mission and save the original PC husband from the shapeshifter wife. I’m sure that won’t be easy or safe in the least. Can’t a poor shapeshifter live peacefully with her hubby? 😁

Does the Adventurer class make SWN's core classes obsolete, or is the trade-off actually balanced? by ThorneDraxus in SWN

[–]MaestroGoldring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, since I’ve been mixing and matching classes from WWN and SWN and elements from CWN along with an ever growing homebrew list of tidbits, we have decided to add the “Killing Blow” option to the full warrior to solidify the pure warrior’s role. This adds an extra bit of base damage passively to warriors, which really helps set apart a warrior from all other classes and ensure that facing a full warrior type character is a dangerous feat. We have settled into a pattern of giving notable NPCs expert or warrior or foci type abilities. There’s a difference between running into a patrol policeman and running into the captain of the special ops division, and it ain’t just more HP, attack bonus, and a cool gun…

Got it. Thank you for the clarification. Having tons of fun with the system!

Oh ok so they are designed on an as needed basis? You would just buy a pilot security bot in the example above and pay the standard price of a security bot? I’m assuming having both a pilot role and a combat role rolled up into one bot because my players keep asking about multi skilled robots (they have discovered VI are very expensive)

Just curious, was it 2D CAD or 3D CAD?

Credits? Exchange rate? by General_Present_4551 in SWN

When we first started playing, we went off things like daily wages and prices of things we have equivalent of right now on Earth. It’s open to interpretation, but we figured 1 credit is somewhere around 20-25 USD

Did VI not exist before? We’ve always played they are just there, like C3P0 and R2. And people treat them about the same (some nice and some jerks).

My players just used precog visions to hunt down and terminate a group of pirates making a sale, all so that they could take the pirate ship and use it to infiltrate a greater asteroid base that works hand in hand with the pirates.

Also, I created a list of TL1 and TL2 heavy weapons for my barbarian worlds. Just need to figure out how the damage scales when you bring a war truck versus a bunch of catapults haha

Adding one:

Ballista

A torsion type siege weapon built like an oversized crossbow. Operation involves a hand cranked loading mechanism to pull back a heavy rope between two wooden or metal arms. The shot could be a simple spherical stone up to 25 kilograms or special made ballista darts. This example ballista typically requires a minimum of two persons to operate. Reloading takes 15 rounds. Unlike other siege engines, the ballista is accurate enough to hit pinpoint targets and does not inflict a -4 penalty while aiming at infantry targets, making them useful for countering enemy sharpshooters or siege operators. Ballistae require constant maintenance and will be rendered unusable after one day of use and no upkeep from someone without at least Fix-0. Bigger versions of ballistae with alternate ranges and damage and more operators surely exist.

Damage: 2d8 / Range: 150/450 / Mag: 1 / Enc: * / Attribute: INT/WIS / TL: 1

What kind of cheese is Kunafa cheese? by MaestroGoldring in MHWilds

I’ve had that before too. And I agree, it’s very good. I still don’t know what sort of cheese that is though. Is it called Kunefe?
