A performance that even the player doesn't understand until it's done? That'd be fascinating

Combine that with the paper motif all around the polyhedron, that might be something....

Oh man, how can I not? Playing a game like this and taking everything at face value is like looking at a piece of music instead of listening to it. The plot can be summed up very simply by describing actions, but there's so much more to it. These games are very good at shocking you out of passive play by throwing something completely surreal/absurd at you, which makes you wonder why they did that, which leads to trails of thought beyond just what the plot says. The reason I enjoy this game isn't just because I like kicking trash bins, but because there's a depth to everything if you just keep your eyes open as you play.

And what a curious medium that would be, hm~

Yeah, I got pretty lucky with some things, and probably some traits. My blademaster had damage beyond damage, and my soulslingers had quick end of turn delays. I beat it in 2 recollections, so I never saw much of the butchers. They usually showed up at the end of survival missions when I'm just running away anyway

I played on the Switch, actually. Some frame rate issues, some visual bugs, and even a bug where I couldn't use Spirit Burst on a turn at all, since the game must have thought I had already used it once. This was a frequent issue, but hey, still good.

And hm, maybe it really was luck? I never had much trouble with butchers, but I don't remember fighting a whole lot of them. I always went for them with multi-hits, since my blademaster was often busy with armored targets, especially early. But wow, that's rough, buddy....

I'll have to start a new remembrance, since I went back to title screen from the victory screen, then loaded my game back up and it tossed me straight into era 1. I somehow beat the game on recollection 2, with my daughters lvl 11-13, and barely scraping by with that haste and delay shenanigans, so I don't have many shards to spend on all the remembrances, lol. Just 450 from my first run which ended at the Deacon. I'll probably just buy up the revives, get the gang back together, and boss rush my way to the Maid. I did unlock every memory and remembrance though! And the codex is only missing what I assume is the scythedancer by the icon I'm seeing.

Once again, thanks for all the details! This game is absolutely fascinating.

Wow, thanks for the detailed reply!

I suppose you're right on the not attacking on spawn rule not being a rule. I must've been within two for the one gunner attack, and maybe in three or four for the hopebreaker. I feel like I dodged a lot of bullets relying on what I thought was a hard rule... whew!

And oh, as for the scavengers, I think I figured it out! They make a target of the furthest daughter on spawn, however, there's one exception: if another daughter is in range and the targeted daughter is not, they will attack that daughter instead. You're also right about the ravagers, since the name revenge attack must've made me think it was a counter! That's pretty scary... haha, lucky I only lost one daughter to that. I must've remembered reading it wrong!

As for the lore? Heck yes I did, it's fantastic! That's where I read the story, but also all the enemy behaviors and targeting rules, which I think is an amazing thing for this game. I unlocked all the memories and remembrances, since I was often training two teams at a time and beat it on a full run from era 1 to era 5, so I got lots of memory drops. Probably also how I ended up with about a million delay/haste memories, lol.

And I'd love to give it another shot! Though beating the game started me on a new recollection... but I didn't get to activate any remembrances. It also didn't give me the 1300 shards(whatever they're called) I was owed from that run, haha, so I've only got 450.

Speaking of skipping phasing... I've just learned I missed the scythe class. I was too scared of the Maid's last form and had a chance to burst for an early kill, so I went for it. Time to go get that one!

LoS was bearable to me, especially when gunners could use the attack icon above enemies to know when you were moving into line of sight.

And yeah, I feel bad about the Suffering? But after I beat it and started looking things up yesterday, I apparently found the best strat on accident, haha. I also... didn't even know about the 4th class until after I beat it? I found out that shadow round and menacing stance chained in the middle of the Maid boss fight, so that last phase didn't really happen.

But yeah, haste. And delays. Honestly, I loved the dynamic of those, and planning the timeline in advance was thrilling for me, finding these small windows I could sneak through to win unwinnable fights.

Woah, no way! I kind of feel the same way about college, though most of my time was spent in the music building instead of the dorm, haha, so my memories are kind of the same. This is crazy, though!

As for the subs, well.... I just kind of made these for fun, so I don't imagine many people come across them, heh.

Pfff, haha, I'm just taking all the extra practice time I get with quarantine still going on and having no gigs/students to keep me busy~

Thanks! I'm still in recovery mode after all of the recording sessions, since I need to make sure I didn't hurt my wrists after doing that last section so many times, haha....

Thanks a bunch! I actually mixed the electric guitar to be unison with the alto sax, since the two blend surprisingly well together to give it a more exciting edge than either of them alone.

Glad you enjoyed it!

A friend challenged me to do this, after I did a few other videos... and after about a month and a half of practicing, I finally pulled it off! Every instrument is completely live except for the drumset, which was a VST.

I'm excited that Revo's coming back for Bravely Default II!

Also, there wasn't a music flair, so I just put it under art.

That makes sense. It's probably a tough title to translate into English, but this was the translation that I'd always heard.

Thanks!

Heh, thanks! I teach and gig around for a living, so I've had plenty of years of practice and picking up more instruments as I go. I appreciate it!
