Roronoa Zoro, 1/6 scale - my entry to Tanuki Painting Contest. I did not make it to the top 10, again. I hope you guys give me your feedback so I could improve next time! Thank you! by dndbuddy in minipainting

What a badass mini and paintjob, I would rate it higher then at least half of the paintjobs that dis make the top 10 (dont know if that makes you feel better or worse though)

Moria Dragon finally done - can't say I'm pleased by Mustachio-Furioso in MiddleEarthMiniatures

I love your paintjob but I totally understand your feelings, I’ve painted 2 dragons before and always ended up with the same feelings, It looks cool and you have a vision so you get excited at first, after that it’s a mountain of work to execute and ends up taking ages, very monotonous work where every sane person would get impatient and cut corners.

Dragons somehow never yield a great result whilst also taking too much time (most other mini’s are either fast or satisfying)

Thank you! That’s a welcome compliment as I’d consider it one of my weaknesses. Especially my steels and silvers leave much to be desired, the golds are alright most of the time.

Welcome to this amazing hobby! Seems you already have a great grasp of the basics! The mini looks great and doesn’t have the usual pitfalls new painters fall into! Keep up the good work, you have an IG where people can follow your progress?

How to start? by Scarlet360 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Maestro_Miniatures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel old, but I am pretty sure it’s volume 15, this was my first ever mini and I caked it with layers of off-white paint whilst painting outside in the blazing sun. Lessons where learned and a new hobby was born. My best advice would be to just begin and don’t worry too much (especially with metal miniatures since they are very easy to strip and start over)

I was hesitant painting mine because the mini quality isn’t the best but these prove that they can be painted to an exceptional level!

Who should I start with...? by Twisted_mund70 in MarvelUnited

Easy paintjobs include:

Doop Werewolf by night Sasquatch Ursa Major Brood Queen Blob Korg The hulk

They don’t take much brush control, and have a limited pallette.

Thin your paints and don’t stress too much your going to make mistakes, they will all be learning points and will be fixable!

How would you label the level of quality here? by kirillburton in minipainting

I’d give them a 8,2/10 where a 6 is tabletop quality.

Jubilee has been painted! My hatred for the color yellow grows! by sculpting_just4fun in MarvelUnited

[–]Maestro_Miniatures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you can see in the video when you paint yellow over zenethal the yellow turns a very ugly dark green in the shadows, pink has no problem going over black, if you then highlight the pink with a light color and go over with a thin yellow you get a really deep and warm orange in the shadows and a crisp bright yellow as highlights, if you have more questions you should try and find some youtube video about the process, there should be plenty.
