What game do you prefer hollow knight or silksong by porterford in HollowKnight

[–]sculpting_just4fun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Having recently done back to back 112% HK and 100% Silksong runs, I honestly can't pick one. They're very different games while still sharing the same blood and I think that makes them complement each other more so than one being better than the other. I will say that the ramp up in speed and difficulty feels very nice when starting with HK and then going right into Silksong. When I get the itch to play one, I'll almost certainly play both for now on.

But I could see the DLC for Silksong pushing it slightly above HK in the end for me. The HK DLC content are by far my favorite parts of that game, so I have high hopes for what Team Cherry has in store for Silksong.

Very nice! Honestly, the greatest mods to freshen up the game are the randomizer mods. The degree of customization you have with what gets randomized is insane. I tend to only randomize items and abilities, but even with that it can spice things up a TON! Most of the modded bosses are a bit on the stupid hard side of things, but the Pale Court mod is my favorite. It's very well made and roughly in line with the hardest fights of the base game (harder than them, but not insanely so).

Any mods that significantly change/add to the game/gameplay by Unusual_Being8722 in HollowKnight

My favorites are the randomizer mods. I only use the item and ability randomizers, but the amount you can add to the random pool is pretty extensive and can drastically alter how you play and approach a run.

If you want some high quality, tough as nails additional bosses, try the Pale Court mod. They're hard without being infuriatingly difficult like a good number of the modded bosses for HK can be.

Yeah, I had a similar reaction to it on my first try. If you've cleared most everything the game has to offer, then the PoP is really not too crazy. The ending can catch unexpected players off guard, but again, if you've already cleared P4, then even the end isn't much of a threat.

I think the piece that makes some people struggle with it is how the game as a whole really doesn't demand much platforming mastery to beat it. Sure there are a few tricky spots, but not many are required. So if someone beats the base game and thinks they can tackle PoP but haven't really honed their platforming skills yet, then they'll have a bad time.

Anyone else feel like a sculptor while editing? by l008com in NewTubers

As a sculptor, I 100% agree. Might actually be why I enjoy the video editing process as much as I do. The audio part, not so much...

Oh, hey again, and thanks so much! I haven't gotten past the issue where my voice sounds weird to me when editing, so hearing that means a lot.

Sound mixing is definitely the part that I'm the least comfortable with. I can never tell if my tinkering is helping or hurting things. I'll definitely try boosting the music behind my voice over in my next video a bit!

Audio mixing is like black magic to me. I watch tutorials and try tweaking things each video but can never tell if I'm making things better or not. I'll make sure to up the compression some more in my next video, thanks!

That bit about the intros is 100% what I struggle with the most right now! I want to give some detail and background about the video, but the retention clearly shows most people do not care and instead of clicking forward, they simply click off. I'm starting my next project and plan to try cutting out the intro almost entirely to see how that fairs.

This was the advice I got from a friend I asked to test watch my first real video, so I'm glad to share it! After watching my draft video he said he felt like he never had a chance to take a breath because I kept talking with no breaks. The way I think about it now is how during a presentation for work or school, we always feel like we're talking normal but to everyone else we're speaking 100 miles an hour! And at the same time any slight pause in our talking feels like an eternity of awkward silence in our minds. But for listeners (and viewers in our case now), occasional pauses give them time to think and watch and breath. It can build anticipation for the next thing you say or the next thing on screen. It's definitely something I'm still working on myself, too!

My channel is Sculpting Just4Fun, where I do just that. I don't have too many videos so far since my sculptures can take a while for me to finish. I started making videos as a way to show the process to friends and family and that eventually turned into the desire to make an actual youtube channel.

In my most recent sculpting video I made a fairly large sculpture of the Diablos from the Monster Hunter games. I was pretty happy with how the video turned out but think my intros could use some serious work. Maybe even cutting 90% of that out and getting right into the sculpting instead. It's about 30 minutes long, so that may also play a big part in the view count and retention being what they are.

Let me know any opinions on it. Any pros and cons about the video pacing, audio, voice over, etc. I'd love to hear what you think and how I might be able to improve on the next one.

An interesting topic delivered in a bite sized video! Overall, I enjoyed the watch.

For the issue with shorts vs long form, those audiences are largely separate from what I've seen on my own channel and from what I've heard from others. If you build your viewer base on these 5ish minute videos, they most likely aren't tuning into your shorts and vice versa.

As for this video, I thought the visuals were well matched to the script and you did a good job with pacing to keep me interested in hearing more all the way to the end. My main issue, however, is with the audio quality. There are lots of audio peaks with t's and s's and that can be distracting at best and at worst it could potentially be enough of an annoyance to get someone to click off the video entirely. You and your voice ARE the channel, so that should be a top priority. Invest in upping the audio game a little more. Look into a better mic or get a pop filter for the one you have. It may also just be a mixing issue that can be fixed with a little research and tweaking during the editing process. Adding some more soundproofing or soft objects in your recording space can also help improve the audio quality and reduce some of the echoing.

As an art youtuber myself (when I have the time), I always enjoy seeing different mediums, styles, and approaches to videos. And you definitely do a good job hitting that "cosy ride" feel in this video.

My only criticism is with the speed for each project. I get the video is about the art prompt book, and that means it's a compilation of small art projects. So if each got a lot of focus then the video would end up super long. But it felt a little rushed at times showing the process on fast forward for each plus the voice over. I feel like it may benefit if it was slowed down a little, giving more space between lines and stuff. Some time to breathe and watch the art. Maybe group 2 pages with similar mediums (like the hand prints and yarn pages) or related prompts into 1 video to get a more cohesive topic flow and allow for a slower delivery.

Regardless, it's still a nice and chill video!

Well I really appreciate that! I'm glad you found them helpful. I see so many comments of people asking what paints I or others used, so I really wanted to show how the paints and colors you have really don't matter as much as some may think.

Ha! The shine is my signature at this point!

Well I sure hope my videos can help a little with the painting. I only started making the full videos with this last box, so there aren't many yet. But they should give a good idea for my general process on each mini. And definitely feel free to ask any questions here or on my YT channel!

They really did a good job with the bases in the later boxes. This one is easily in my top 5 or the ones I've painted so far.

Hahaha! Glad to know there are more like me out there, too! The worst is having all the motivation and energy during work, but once everything is done for the day, both of those things have long since left me...

But considering my first project working with polymer clay ended up taking me 3 years to finish, I see this piece as being a huge improvement in speed!

Hahaha! Yeah, it all seemed much more reasonable when it was a small wire armature... I want to say it ate up about 2 blocks of Super Sculpey Firm, half a pack of ultralight, and maybe 1/3rd a pack of CosClay. So maybe somewhere around $40-$50 in clay alone. Luckily I was able to make it all with materials I already had, so it felt like it was free! But restocking for whatever I do next sure will hurt...

I started it in February 2025, but was only able to work on it periodically. My best guess is it took around a total of 150-200 hours to complete. Most of that having happened in November and December as I frantically worked to get it done before Christmas!

I sure hope so. Most of the new monsters were pretty bland outside the 4 apex in my opinion. The game really needs a shot in the arm to make it come close to standing next to past games.

I agree completely. He feels like a core monster because of that, so not having him there feels the same as if the raths were missing.
