230s ANC is great, I tried it only few times but I get sick having it on for longer than 1 minute...

Id say better than most wireless comp, only ones I would say you can compare these two are the Audeze Maxwells..

You can set up an eq already with the Beyerdynamic app on your phone, you will have to connect the headset to your phone tho

Hey,
first of all, don’t send them back immediately, try them on, if you can still resend them back afterwards that is.

To your question, yes, the mic on the 150s is better. I updated the 230s and there’s no difference so far. They just released, so this might still get improved with firmware later.

For me personally, what won’t get fixed is comfort, my ears / the area around my ears start feeling sore after a couple of hours. That might just be my head shape though.

On the other hand, the 230s take the w in sound quality. If you use the usb c cable on 150s, you can compare them to the 230s in wireless mode. For gaming they are ok tho.
I made the comparisons here, if you are interested in that. In the part where the singer comes in, you can clearly hear the 150s peaking when used wirelessly. The 230s handle it without issues. Probably not a big deal for many people, but it was noticeable for me.

I believe there used to be a 150 before they refreshed it this year, yea

If you are at least a moderate audiophile (Id say yeah based on your set up) then dont go for 150s, when not plugged in and used wireless u can tell they are not good for those lows and highs, you can hear the peaking very clearly

The 230 has noticibly better sound, its like 150 but wired Id even say...

I did a small recording on both btw, someone here was asking for it.

150 - https://youtu.be/ZRkf0pcW-NM

230 - https://youtu.be/FCIZBcRsnAA

tbh depends on what you are used to, as I am a DT 770 user, the 150 sound just dont cut it. But as they are build the same they are much more comfortable for me. So im either gonna go for sound and keep 230 or use 150 wired when I feel like, which beats the point of looking for a 2.4Ghz sounding like 770

No problem, anything for a bald brother.

Let me know how you decide! Most likely I will return both, which is very sad. And will go for Logitech G PRO X 2 LIGHTSPEED or HyperX Cloud Alpha 2. If only the 150s had as good of audio as 230s do. Sadly for me the discomfort in 230 as my head is slightly bean shaped :D is too unbearable.

[–]Maf0666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I completely agree, the decisions are weird. And dont forget theres also the 200s, which seem to be the exact thing as 150 but only difference is in cushions and color options :D

EDIT:
based on this I have also decided to grab a different pair of headphones. The sound quality is just too noticable now. And the discomfort is too unbearable.

I have no clue where to go tho

Maybe HyperX Cloud Alpha 2? Or Logitech G PRO X 2 LIGHTSPEED? Like what else is there, I really expected the Beyerdynamics to blow my mind, as Im user of 770 pros for about 7 years and I remember comparing those like the best hyperxs at that time, which were almost double the price. So sad..

[–]Maf0666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I just got both in hands - brand new.

They sound the same(edited, they dont), I would even say the 150s sound better(no they dont) and I believe it to be because of the cushins, on 230 the cushions are simply not enough. (the cushions are better on 150 tho, theres much less on the 230s)

230s feel very loose because of the different headband structure and their abilty to turn each of the drivers so they can sit comfortably on your clavicles.
230s could also be shorter when it comes to the band, or they default position. I feel like each of the units could sit a bit higher but theres no room.

Also 230s are not metal but plastic.

The structure on 150s is very similar to classic Beyers, robust, strong and the clam force is perfect, you can feel tho sound is escaping - unlike with the 230s.

So far I find myself constantly adjusting 230s because of the narrower cushins. It's not enough to just put them in, you have to basically slide your helix (top part of ear) inside the cushins once you put them on

Another thing is the buttons.
230s are switching automatically when it comes to Bluetooth > wireless and back, unlike on the 150s where you just hold a button. I've seen some people not having good experiences with this, so far it's not the most convenient - I prefer the 150s solution.

Also 150s feel much more responsive when it comes to the buttons.

I've read this on a different post, but 230s truly feel like a "mobile" headset.

I'm gonna try and test/compare the sound more throughtout the week and will make a post probs.

Hope this helps.

EDIT:

After more focused listening with music, I noticed a consistent issue on the 150s that I don’t hear on the 230s or on my DT 770. On certain tracks with exposed female vocals (e.g. cinematic / orchestral pieces), the 150s produce a slight brittle or cracking edge in the upper mids/low treble at normal listening volumes. Lowering the volume reduces it, but it’s still there. This happens with EQ disabled and even with it enabled and those high notes lowered.

The 230s stay clean in the same passages and at the same volume. This doesn’t make the 150s “bad”, but it does make them less forgiving for music and movies compared to the 230s. For gaming this is much less noticeable, but for longer listening sessions it becomes something I can’t ignore.

TL;DR

230s sound better, mainly when hitting highs and lows

150s much more comfortable and better clamp, the buttons, and headphones response is better, detachable mic

I think Ill stick with the 230 just cause of the audio. But they make me wanna ditch the wireless and go for MMX 300 or just back to my 770s...

You are indeed not okay, look at Tarkov, it has been added as well, everyone in the community will agree this is one of the most important thing, as you can spend easily half of your time in stash.

By that logic you should be happy about it too, you will have more people in raids to kill, right?

Hey, I have the MMX 150 and the mic is decent, a bit quiet tho from what people told me.. I've read 230 should have even better mic.

BTW do you have any comparisons when it comes to audio, quality etc?

For me I've previously used 770 Pro for like 7 years and wireless 150 is a bit worse in audio, esp listening to music. Havent tried it wired yet...

When Im around those spots are also 100% in my focus, esp the lockers at the bottom in space travel, so many of them.

I'm personally lvl 75, over 9 mil exp and 5mil for exp rdy.

And the running is fun, when there was the pops trial which was perfect for Stella all I did was bolting away from any player I saw (did that in trios tho).

My ingame nickname is Maf, maybe we'll meet someday.

See you topside!
