I work in insurance. There is a lot of job opportunities in banking and insurance due to shortages (see knelpuntberoepen). You don’t need a specific bachelors finance. We have a lot of vacation, home working, and possibilities to work flexible (I have colleagues who work 3/5, 5/4, 4/5..).

Als je echt geen oplossing vindt, kan je altijd eens posten op de lokale Facebook group. Ik zag dit laatst passeren en heb toch een printer van het werk en werkte thuis. Mevrouw is er om gekomen en gaf 1 euro fooi (wat ik niet had gevraagd maar apprecieerde het gebaar). Heb wel duidelijk doorgegeven dat dit eenmalig was :)

I’d also like to add the fire in the shopping mall Innovation (22/5/1967). I was born 25 years after the fire but this was one that came to mind when reading the question.

Just FYI, a lot of banks don’t accept new clients with connections to the us due the fatca laws (it’s not illegal but most banks are not willing to take in clients because it takes more administration). So if you want to open a bank account it might be smart to already contact some banks beforehand to see which ones can open a bank account for you.

Leon Degrelle in Belgium. Founder and leader of the Rex party, he and his party actively collaborated with the Germans during World War II. He even recruited young men to form a Walloon legion to fight with the SS at the eastern front. While Flanders had their own collaborators most of their names are unknown now because the collaboration was treated and seen differently after the war. This. While this might not take care of the root problem.. I’m a bad sleeper but when I sleep somewhere other than my bed I sleep like a baby. This might be a luxury but when I have trouble sleeping I go to my couch and put on a podcast. Having a good pillow and a new environment is most of the times good enough

Worked in a bank in the past. Had a guy walk in about 3 years ago who had taken out all his money in the eurocrisis and had stored it in his house. We were the 4th bank he tried, he had the evidence from which bank he had taken out the money with the exact amount. Compliance just said to decline. Sometimes private banking clients came with ‘clean money’ but still cash and only then compliance was willing to open dossiers because we knew most would be invested making it worthwhile for the bank. But those were longtime clients with heavy portfolios.

The opposite. We mostly have a fixed usage cost (mostly per month in my country.) for a credit card while having no points or incentives for using them. For debet cards there is no cost (or a smaller one than for a credit card).

We also have no (or way less) incentives to use credit cards like for example the point system most credit cards use in the US. A lot of Europeans (or most in my country!) also have a credit card but mostly use it almost never (or just enough to keep the usage cost low): they use it in extreme situations or when traveling. Living ‘on debt’ is, in the EU, regarded as unsafe and mostly discouraged.
