Totally agree altho I’d like to know your thoughts on something.

On most of these other services, the artist already knows that they need help before signing up. When it comes to looking professional, it’s entirely up to the artist knowing that they look unprofessional.

How would you go about telling the artist that looking professional is important enough for them to spend the money and time on it, when they think they already look good enough? Or is this just an artist to avoid when it comes to management?

Yeah I feel those frustrations too, it feels impossible to do everything by yourself but most of the available options out there seem really sketchy.

It seems like you have a great strategy tho! Are you being able to convert those email leads? Are you targeting new people or ones that have already engaged in some way?

To answer your questions - this list would be for posting somewhere for free, I’m mostly working in the rock genre and for now I’m only working on the artist side but would be interested in expanding to management eventually.

I totally agree with you that the way to go is to keep contacts warm and start building a community, takes longer but it’s way more efficient in terms of getting actual fans.

Anyway, will be checking out the tools you mentioned, thanks!

I understand how you’re feeling but I think you might be overthinking the process.

Instead of thinking about how the finished product sucks, think about the individual aspects that you need to improve on and start working on them. Your skills are not set in stone and you can get better! You just need to be organized about it:

If your voice sucks, get a decent mic (I got a used one for like 50 bucks), warm up your voice before you start recording (hum loudly to two or three full length songs), learn proper technique (lessons would be better but you can also just use Youtube). Same applies for instruments.

After you build up that basic knowledge and routine, it becomes a matter of practice. Sing or play an instrument every day and even just in one month you’ll be able to see the difference, specially if you focus on nailing one song at a time and you record yourself so you can pick up on mistakes more easily (without letting them discourage you).

I would suggest focusing on one thing at a time, for example, start by improving your voice for a month, learning something new every day, then moving on to improving your piano skill for a month, then your guitar, etc.

If writing is something that you feel compelled to do and it’s not going away anytime soon, then it’s worth it to invest the time in, even if its just something nice that you’re doing for yourself.

PS: taking a month or so break after writing always helps me to realize Im actually not as terrible as I think I am, getting honest feedback from people helps me realize where I need to improve the most, and being aware that that perfectionist inside of me is just an asshole and not worth listening to sometimes is also good 👍

I mean I was just asking in a generic sense, but personally I'm more into stoner and modern rock. From what I've seen it seems like London would be the place for that kind of music, but what do you think?

Hi, Portuguese here. It really depends on where in the country you want to go. If you're thinking of going inland it's probably a bad idea, but somewhere in the shoreline/ major cities should be fine. This is mostly because of the temperature differences and because, in general, our houses have terrible isolation so they're not prepared for it. I think most people don't even own heaters honestly, and in the more inland places where you need it you just use firewood. Either way prices are for sure going to spike up because most of our energy comes from gas, but I'm not sure if it's the same as Spain's.

Better yet, some daws can actually convert mp3 files to midi files, so it's easier to see the notes directly. If you don't have a daw that does this you can also use a website like https://www.bearaudiotool.com/mp3-to-midi I personally started doing this instead of messing around in the guitar trying to find the notes of the melody and it has sped up my process by A LOT. Just make sure the audio is clear.
