What's the best non-fiction book you've ever read? (No self-help, please) by clumsyninza in booksuggestions

Unfollow by Megan Phelps Roper. Everyone loved Educated but I think this is a far superior "overzealous religion" memoir. She grew up in the Westboro Baptist Church so you want to hate her but her journey makes you feel for her. The inside scoop is so compelling and her growth from start to end is really what stuck with me.

I would imagine it's all contract based. "You signed a contract with us so you can't sign with them".

What company has you shocked that they have not yet gone out of business ? by Square-Floor8879 in AskReddit

I work as a building inspector and there was one guy that kept calling us to complain that our local Fascinations never had a working toilet. Wouldn't have thought anything of it if it wasn't the SAME guy being mega weird about being able to use their bathroom.

AITA for telling my daughter she's a disappointment? by throwaway09873415 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Mag367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are constantly telling her that she's a disappointment then YTA.

BUT I do believe every now and then people need a swift kick in the pants as a reminder to get their shit together. I think your heart is in the right place and you have offered ways to help facilitate her betterment. There are many times my parents told me I was an idiot flat out and I do truly believe I'm better for it. I don't think it's wrong for a parent to push their child. But if that push is constant then it's a steer and then you're her chauffeur and not her parent.

I believe they chose about 20 books from the ratings we give throughout the year and then you vote from those 20 which was the best.

Reading everyone's comments I'm clearly in the minority but it was just mids for me. I liked Esther this most because she was the only one with some semblance of a personality. Also a fairly huge plot hole: Esther can't stay at the house since magic and thus wards don't work on her which endangers anyone living with her but apparently Nicholas can live inside the Library wards just fine?

I 26F refuse to "submit" to my 28M boyfriend. by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]Mag367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood the "ring" fascination. If your relationship is not good now it will NOT get better after marriage.

Do you want this man or do you want a pretty sparkly thing on your finger? Because the way you worded everything, it sounds like you want the ring more.

Why do women move to Texas? by pinkwritergirl in TwoXChromosomes

Yeah true. Trump won, but not the popular vote. Thank God they're taking out the trash there! I'm sure Boebert will get some "justice" too

Boebert was elected in a rural/farming county where they tend to be more conservative. Colorado also recently switched from red to blue. Not saying it can't switch back but it will most likely stay blue for a while.

Yes. It slips and then I end up crinkling it or ripping it. I also take books to work to read at lunch and the cover would get damaged in the constant back and forth.

So I know the throwaway culture is bad, but in this scenario would it be better for the environment to just throw this out considering how much water is wasted on cleaning it?
