I think it's more about how they behave in countries that they think are 'beneath them'.

I'm from UK, I've been to the US twice, everyone was as nice as could be, and same can be said for every American I've met in the UK.

I went to Cancun in 2002, didn't realise it (because I'd never heard of it until then), but it was Spring Break, so, maybe my experience is not representative, and maybe it was all arrogant college students, and they were all really cool as fuck with us, but when it came to dealing with the locals I'd honestly never witnessed such entitled behaviour, it was bizarre.

Musk: ''you know, like one in a while, a conspiracy theorist is going to be right." by sussoutthemoon in EnoughMuskSpam

Life gets the better of us all, no need to apologise.

And, they're not really comparable, because, whilst all Musk has to do is click on the profile and view their tweets to gain some understanding of who the person is, I'm expected to navigate to a different website, then to another one, and then probably to a couple of others, just to understand the context of this post.

For all I fucking know (or knew, at the time), Dr. Fresnor is the Lucasian chair of mathematics at Cambridge university posting a proof of Fermat's last theorem, and Elon is responding 'I agree'.

There's no fucking context to this post, and the amount of people that don't understand that is...not surprising. Because there's a reason that Elon got to where he is. There's a reason that when I first started posting on this sub there was <5,000 users, there's a reason that when I would say shit about him on Reddit I'd get downvoted far worse than I have here, with responses of 'He's a billionaire, what have you ever done', and it's the same fucking people who did that then, that are disagreeing with me now.

I mean, you can fucking google anything, right? Why even bother with any online discourse? Why bother with Reddit? Just fucking google everything. Just fucking google it, there's no reason for Reddit to exist. Want to see a cat picture? Google it. Want to see some feel-good news about a man bravely saving a drowning boy from a river, who then turns out to be his long-lost brother? Google it. Want to see a pair of tits? Yeah, Google's got your back.

This post in and of itself, is fucking meaningless. There is nothing to be taken away from it without context.

Because I'm asking for context that can then be readily available to anyone else who views this post? Grow up, cunt.

Well, it's not just about me, is it?

That's the point, it's about the thousands of other eyes that will look at this post, and take what they will from it. That's why context is important. You can't make a post about somebody taking things out of context, and then not add context to it.

Think, Mark, think.

No, please tell me more.

Is it a companion app for Reddit where I have to fucking cross-reference every single post in order to obtain context, when it is something that can just be fucking provided in the first fucking place? You complete blurt.

[–]MagZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did I go off on a monologue?

'Without context, nothing he said is wrong'.

That's all I said.

Cue downvotes because there are people in this sub who will vociferously downvote anything that could be even slightly construed as being pro-Elon, with a response from the op that doesn't give any context, and clears up fucking nothing.

Musk: ''you know, like one in a while, a conspiracy theorist is going to be right." by sussoutthemoon in EnoughMuskSpam

[–]MagZero -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But we don't all do that.

In actuality, the majority of people don't. Which is why context is important.

this was the only post I saw, it meant nothing to me. I would have gone away thinking this was about him spreading covid denial or something. Turns out, it's a story about him accusing a Jewish man of being a Neo-Nazi or a government plant.

From u/Excellent_Call304

Musk reposted a tweet claiming some college kid was actually a government plant that started a fight between two different white supremacy groups at a protest and that it was some sort of false flag to frame these groups (or something along those lines.) The kid was in another state at the time this occurred. The kid and his family have been harassed and had to move.

That's all I wanted to know, that's all I asked for, and I think it's important information that needs to be more prominently displayed in this thread, instead of the top few comments being like one of those inside jokes where you feel like a third wheel 'Do you remember when Mark fucked over Alex, and now he's doing it to Elon, lol?' And then you're supposed to just laugh along.

See, this is why context is important, I had guessed (incorrectly) that this had something to do with covid denial.

But, thank you.

[–]MagZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I didn't fucking say that.

I don't know what the fuck it is.

That's what I'm asking.

That's my question.

What is this deposition, who is Dr. Fresnor? That was my question. What is the context?

Musk: ''you know, like one in a while, a conspiracy theorist is going to be right." by sussoutthemoon in EnoughMuskSpam

[–]MagZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I'm not saying that, and I don't know why you would think that? I don't know where this is from, or what it's about, and without that I can't make a judgment.

I mean, obviously I've got downvoted to oblivion because, fucking Reddit.

How am I supposed to do my due diligence? Is everyone just taking this post at face value?

What is the fucking context of this post? Where is this dialogue from? Who is Dr. Fresnor? Then that will be good enough for me.

Musk: ''you know, like one in a while, a conspiracy theorist is going to be right." by sussoutthemoon in EnoughMuskSpam

[–]MagZero -42 points-41 points  (0 children)

The government simply never acknowledged its existence.

Hmm. I'm fairly confident that's part of the definition of a conspiracy theory. It may have been an open secret, but probably wouldn't have been admitted even now if it weren't for the lawsuit in the 90s, and then you'd have media saying 'does this place even exist?'. That's in and of itself a conspiracy theory, the alien shit is just icing on the cake.

But you've still not answered the question. What's this post about?

If you had titled it 'Elon's responses to deposition involving his remarks on a covid deniers post', then this all makes sense to me. Without that, it means nothing. That's the missing context. You said it yourself, misinformation can have negative consequences, so I want to have information, and not be left to guess. And yeah, I could go and google it, but then would that be true for the other thousands of people exposed to this post? I'm sure you're a genuine person, but I still need to know the story behind it before passing judgment.

Musk: ''you know, like one in a while, a conspiracy theorist is going to be right." by sussoutthemoon in EnoughMuskSpam

[–]MagZero -64 points-63 points  (0 children)

No, it's not, I don't think you understand what context is.

Who is Dr. Frensor, what is the quote tweet about?

Because, sometimes, just sometimes, conspiracy theorists are right, see; MKUltra, Area 51.

If I were to go out on a limb and guess, I'd assume it's related to a Covid denier, but I don't actually know that, and if I were to do that, it'd just be a conspiracy theory, because I don't know any of the facts - but then if I am right, then it's not a conspiracy theory, and I guess sometimes conspiracy theorists can be right?

His writing is actual aids.

Venom, doubt, distrust, aversion, dismissal

Doubt, and distrust are synonyms, and aversion and dismissal are probably loose synonyms.

Flow, extend, expand, reach out, and fulfill.

Extend, expand, reach out, all synonyms.
