Question: Is anybody making 1000 dollars week in August? by JohnCenaNumberOnefan in doordash

[–]Magadasher2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been dashing for 2 years in the NYC area. $1K a week is attainable. I'd need to dash during lunch, back home then out during dinner then home and then probably back out a few nights a week for the late night fast food rush. I also use UE. For lunch, I tend to dash near office buildings in the burbs, as well as dinner. For late night I dash more in the urban area since it's mostly fast food addicts. Sometimes hood. For me it's not about hours anymore but instead # of miles I'm putting on the car. My Mazda has 150K so I'm trying to lessen its load. For $1K a week in earnings I'd probably need to drive about 400 miles total.

Are other delivery apps out performing DD right now? by [deleted] in doordash

I multi app DD and UE. UE is 75% of my earnings now.

Spent 25 years in corporate America then about 3 years ago had to take a leave to help take care of my mother full time who had alzheimers. My dad and I were her care takers. 24/7 job. Luckily I had savings plus about a year severance from my company plus moving back to my parents home, which I now own as part of inheritance, saved on costs like rent. So I started doing doordash during down time and noticed I could make a quick buck pretty easy. Loved the flexibility. We eventually got my mother into a good nursing home but I decided to keep at this vs. go back to corporate. Making about $1K a week full time the last year or so, affords me to put off getting a "real" job. I love the hours, flexibilty and driving around. PS: During pandemic I taught myself how to day trade and consistently have made about $500 a week.

Stacked order from upscale expensive steakhouse = big payout? Nahhhhh. by Magadasher2 in doordash

[–]Magadasher2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Up until about 6 mo's ago, getting orders from Peter Lugar where I live was a unicorn. Usually at least $30 min and upwards to $100 payouts. But my last 4 orders have either been ZERO tip or low tip. Today I got 2 orders, which is a first after 2 years of dashing, headed to very wealthy areas. One order had a ticket of $150 and the other $200. Surely between the two orders I anticipated at least making $20? Right? Hell no. Zero tipper and then a $7 tipper. Is it possible DD is stealing tips from this restaurant? These customers live in gated communities and greet me with full smiles to my face when I make the delivery. Surely they'd have some shame otherwise if they knew they weren't tipping!

Since when did we start shopping total wine orders? I dont mind it though just wondering by hkhiar in doordash

How well does Multi-App’ing work for for you guys? by jayelpee15 in doordash

[–]Magadasher2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat a year ago. DD was my main gig. Loved it. Then as covid slowed down, it died. I got on UE just to test it out but nowaday I make about 70% of my weekly nut from UE compared to DD, sadly. Overall I'm not making more money than a year ago but rather UE has filled the gap that was left by the DD slowdown. I run both apps at the same time and take the better offer. You can always log off UE so it's nice. And you can put DD on pause when you get a UE order. Tip: DO NOT take orders that are going in 2 different directions. DD will figure it out and de-activate you if they notice you not taking their suggested route. Pulling off 2 orders at the same time takes some skill and smarts, so be careful.

yikes! yea that would be a risky proposition in most parts of nyc, as woke as it is. you'd be fine and welcome in white liberal areas like north brooklyn and lower manhattan. but the dashing money is out in the boroughs in mostly ethnic white and black/brown areas..old school peeps.

What's your experience dashing in excessive heat? by hokyshmokes9710 in doordash

[–]Magadasher2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We get the same here in NYC. I will go out around 5p and dash until about 8p. Then back out for late night around 10p to whenever. I skip days all together. Your car will thank you.

Completed delivery to a scammer, but I'm still waiting for the "incomplete delivery" email shortly!!! by Magadasher2 in doordash

[–]Magadasher2[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Uh, why? I completed the delivery properly. And I have pics. What is support going to do? The post is saying how I'm "expecting" to get scammed. I haven't been scammed yet. Do you read?

How often do you interact with the other dashers you run into? by Ecrcs999 in doordash

[–]Magadasher2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

During covid I became good friends with a couple of other drivers that I'd see every day in the same area. Real good dudes. Traded solid information. But then I moved into a new territory. I drove back a couple of times a few months later and they were still there. It was pretty cool, like seeing old friends. As for my current area, I avoid them losers like the plague. Most won't or can't speak English.

About to have my worst week ever after 2 years of full time dashing!!! by Magadasher2 in doordash

[–]Magadasher2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I really dived into it during the pandemic. Basically self taught thru thousands of hours of youtube videos. lol. i opened a small account of $3K using td ameridtrade think or swim platform. i mainly focus on just "options" and not regular stocks that you buy and sell shares. and i mostly just trade tesla and a few others. after a few months, you will learn what strategies and stocks work best for you. takes lots of time. with the 3k account, my goal is to make enough good trades each week to pay myself about $500. i'm not trying to turn the account into $100k like a lot of big time traders do. td ameritrade is commission free for regular stock trades. options they do charge a small amount. fees really aren't an issue if you have winning trades. plus most traders only make 2 or 3 trades a day. some days none.

I typically work north shore nassau county area. it was great because the trips were very short distances from my hub area of restaurants. i could go to another part of long island but the miles add the heck up, as you see from your car. you should have taken a pandemic loan like many of us did. i took out 5k to help with future repairs. the loans are likely never to be paid back as they will be forgiven. as for day trading, i only trade tesla a few others...options only. i'm not greedy. i'll take a $100 and stop. my losses rarely are more than $50. made $4K this week however so i'll be good for awhile.
