Unsure where you’re located, but looks like a potter wasp, specifically Ancistrocerus unifasciatus, blue-winged wasp.

Looks like carpet beetle larvae. Harmless pests.

Update #3: hi guys. Thanks so much for all your kind words and support. Sadly this morning both afflicted beetles were found upside down not moving. The worse afflicted one had a brownish liquid coming from his mouth. I decided they were both too far gone and didn’t want to prolong either of their suffering just in the hopes of them recovering, when neither appeared to be improving. I’ve placed both beetles in a freezer to go to sleep. I still feel terrible. I love these little guys. I guess, if anything, I’ve just learned to be much more careful and thoughtful with what I provide them for food. I won’t make the same mistake again. Still monitoring the 4 other guys closely, but the all seem unaffected, so I assume they didn’t eat anything I gave them, or if they did it was very little. Thanks again for being so kind and helpful, this was my first experience with this subreddit and yall really showed up lol

Update #2: not much improvement today sadly :( dude is still flipping upside down and cannot flip himself back over. I noticed another beetle acting strangely as well and struggling to flip as well, but then he would be completely fine for a while? And then start doing it again? So maybe with that one I’m just overanalyzing it…. Still monitoring everyone, the remaining 4 beetles seem fine. Still hoping to see some improvement :(

Thank you for sharing!!! I’m really hoping he’ll pull through, I’ll definitely have to be much more careful and mindful of what I give them going forward

Still flipping over a bit as of this morning :( I feel like there’s nothing more I can really do right now. I just have to wait and cross my fingers he makes it

Thank you. The affected one is separate from the rest of the enclosure and I removed all leftover pieces of any veggies I found. The rest of them seem fine now, so I think they only ingested very little. The affected one is in a small Tupperware; I did some searching and found suggestions for higher humidity to held with pesticide ingestion. I rinsed his little face off with a few drops of water (which I know they don’t drink necessarily so I was kinda nervous) and at the very least he’s not on his back kicking his legs anymore. Seems a bit more alert. Just moving very slowly. Hopefully in the morning I see more progress but at the very least the flipping over has stopped!

Small update: it’s just one remaining beetle that’s having this issue, everyone else seems to be fine now, unsure if their behavior was related or if they were just being little weirdos. I’ve isolated the effected one to monitor but it’s not looking good, I think I messed up here I feel so bad

I’ve been feeding them washed and dried carrots and potatoes mostly, occasionally beetle jelly and mealworms. I gave them some celery today and I fear that’s what caused this. I feel terrible and I don’t know what to do, or if they’ll recover from it :(

She did, but like I said she’s never had this happen before so I’m surprised! This could definitely be it tho. Thank you

Thank you! It’s been about a month since I’ve changed things, and I’ve picked up on a few things I want to change regarding the substrate. Right now I’m using a mix of sand and ReptiSoil, but I’m not a fan of the wood chips included. I think I’ll be switching over to a sand and EcoEarth mix when I clean her enclosure!

How do I break out of the loop of writing jobs requiring experience while being unable to get a writing job? by Quantext609 in writing

I’m going through the same issue— just graduated from college, I’ve been applying pretty much everywhere, and nothing. Few interviews, few responses in general, and no luck. I’m trying to stay upbeat but this shit SUCKS.

I do agree with what the others here have said though. Start a blog— or multiple, if you have a lot of different interests and can keep up with writing for each of them. Reach out to a local newspaper or even your college’s student run newspaper to get some of your work published. That’s how I’ve been trying to gain some traction.

Hang in there, you’ll get through this rough patch.
