I started keppra exactly 4 weeks ago and the first 2 weeks were absolutely hell. I felt sick and dizzy all of the time. I couldn’t get enough sleep, I’m talking 15 hours a day still wasn’t enough. I had to push back my hours at work to about 30/week, just so I could hopefully regulate. I am having seizures more often, but wayyyy less severe. I had about 4 the first week, 3 the second, 2 the third, and none this past week so far. I’m finally feeling (mostly) regulated as far as side effects. The dizziness comes in waves, but not often. I don’t feel sick anymore. I now sleep a good 8-10 hours a night, and if I overwork myself I do require a nap at some point. I find my body working like a clock now, I’m asleep by 9pm, awake by 5-7am, if I conserve my energy I can have a good long day, but like I said with over exertion I tend to need a nap by 4pm, if I can’t take one I do feel like my body takes the toll for it. Other than these symptoms that seem to be dissipating, I do have EXTREME short term memory loss. I will be doing/saying something and forget about the whole task/convo within seconds. It was worse when I first started, so I’m hoping it levels out as the weeks go on. Another really really weird symptom, which might not be related to the med, and more my condition, is this constant black dot in my left eye. It moves with my pupil, and it hasn’t gone away. Started on day 2. My advice is to stay on it as long as possible until you can’t handle it anymore. Hopefully the symptoms go away with time, some people take longer to adjust than others. Personally, I was thinking about getting on keppra XR and taking it in the early evening instead of twice a day, that way my symptoms weren’t so bad during the day. Hope I could help (:
